Frozen vegetables has become very good, my local Rema1000 has frozen red curry vegetables, which is wok vegetables with added red curry. All you need to do is add coconut milk and meat of choice, and you have a great meal, they even has a green curry version.
Just use sweetened condensed coconut with an egg and sweetened condensed milk. Don't separate the egg or whisk the whites or anything, just put it in whole to act as a binder. Use a cookie scoop to shape them like macaroons and bake at 350f for 20 minutes or so until the bottoms start to turn brown, they turn into these delicious chewier macaroon type things. It's a South American treat called Cocada. I add almond slivers and chocolate chips to make an almond joy type of cookie.
Barry please do a series on cheap healthy meals it's something a lot of us struggle with especially when living alone trying to be healthy on a budget is the hardest thing ever ❤
Awe Barry 😊 that was very sweet of you to say thank you to all of us! However I want to thank you truly because you have helped so many people in so many ways... you and your family are lovely people always respectful and kind and so much fun!❤️ I am so glad I found your channel you have noooooo idea!!!! Many blessings to you and your family and to your continued success!🙏🙏❤️🥂🍻
Since you're saying thank you to those who watch, I just want to say thank you for producing such great content WITH subtitles! Being a cochlear implant user, I prefer having subtitles to follow properly and I don't usually watch videos that have subtitles, so thank you so much!
i don't know about the uk, but in the us you can buy keebler coconut dreams at any grocery store in the country any time of the year - it's exactly the same thing as samoas, literally, because keebler is the company that makes samoas for the girl scouts
They're not exactly the same, but they're very very similar. They seem to use slightly different recipes for their versions of cookies than the Girl Scout versions. Samoas and Coconut Dreams are a lot more similar to each other than, say, Thin Mints and Grasshoppers, but there's very distinct differences between the flavor of the cookie and the chocolate. They're absolutely suitable as off-season substitutes though.
I am watching as I cook spaghetti. I am doing it with garlic butter and grated Parmesan. Yummy. Have a great day everyone. I will have to try these recipes.
that tortellini recipe looks absolutely delicious, and reminds me of some frozen microwave dishes i've had in germany, with pasta in a spinach-cream sauce. i'll have to try that, and especially with a good serving of parmesan or pecorino on top!
I wonder if you could use sweetened condensed milk instead of banana? Then use more sweetened condensed milk and turn it into caramel drizzle that over them and then drizzle the chocolate.
I save a bit of time by boiling the water in the kettle first, then pouring it in the pot to cook whatever it is I'm cooking. Love your channel & family. Keep it up!
Fyi barry. Some cameras you can get a version of the battery that is actually just a main plug adapter. So you can set it up plugged in and not have to mess around with charging and swapping batteries.
A few weeks back I made some Onion Bahjis but I used Masa Harina instead of Garam Flour (because I had some in a bag that needed using) and it made the best "fritters" I've ever had. It works far better than wheat flour does. Can recommend it as a great flour for anything frittered.
You say thank you for wherever in the world for watching, I live 15mins away on the train and I really want to meet you one day, you made me get into cooking and it’s a massive hobby of mine now, so thank you
Hey Barry! Thanks again for a new upload. These are my favourite series of yours. I'm definitely going to try dedicated coconut/banana/dark chocolate biscuits. You can't go healthier than that. Anyhow, keep uploading as always. Peace 😹
One of my favorite meals to make that’s really fast and simple is pesto tortellini. Whenever we make it at home, we pan fry chunks of chicken to mix in with it, but I’ve recently been making baked chicken instead. I just use a recipe I found where you use potato chips as the breading, and I cook them in little nuggets to mix in with the pasta after its been cooked. So good, super easy and fun to make, and delicious!!
I’m deffo gonna do the carrot frittas but I may have them as a burger. I’m not vegetarian but I love anything which allows you to eat veggies in different and interesting ways. Great video as always Basil!!!
I have one for sweet and sour meat balls that will be a stonker made with 3 ingredients. Ketchup Ginger ale And Ground beef Mix your ground beef with your favorite spices ie salt pepper garlic powder etc. Form meat balls and drop into one cup of ketchup and two cups of ginger ale. Simmer for an hour and a half and voila! I kid you not they are awesome! Cheers
hey Barry, set aside that Im enjoying your vids for quite a while now..( and you getting better and better!!) , I was intrigued by those cookies and I made them with a slight difference and they are marvelous! the difference: fresh coconut .. scrape it out , blend it coarsely and add the banana with some zest of limes... yummmmmmm ( it has a nice bite!)
a tip for the carrot fritters: carrot and garlic go REALLY well together. so maybe add garlic powder to the flour. and maybe fry them with olive oil or butter. I actually always cook carrots and garlic with butter when I don't have pasta sauce. Its amazing
If you use gram flour, grate a parsnip with the carrot and add some curry powder, they make excellent bhajis which also cook very nicely in the air fryer or an oven if you want to be 'healthy'... which I don't always feel after eating 6 of them!
I've only tried this with potato fritters so far, but I think it'd work with any kind: I omit the egg (now it's vegan) and skip the step of pressing out the moisture. Which in turn makes a nice consistency with the added flour. I just add flour until everything looks nicely cohesive, hasn't failed me yet!
Sadly I'm allergic to spinach, so I'd have to leave that part out. Mostly excited to make the carrot fritters & the milkshake! Not a fan of the cookies so not sad about it not going great. Love the video💕
Mashing a banana is easily done but for those that are a bit frail a handy tip is put it in a warm oven until skin turns dark brown/black peel and you'll find it much easier to mash up
I don't know if they're available over there in the UK, but Keebler's "Coconut Dreams" cookies are a great substitute for Samoas. They're not QUITE the same but they're really close.
The carrot fritter recipe also works well with zucchini and cheese as long as you do it as a shallow fry. And be extra thorough when you squeeze liquid out.
That banana needed a few more days so it could get browned some and the coconut needed to be sweetened. Both have more moisture plus you will get the sweetness that is needed. Lastly, they need to be flatter, a lot flatter. Def going to do the past and milkshake, though.
For the carrot fritters or the coconut things? I think for the carrot fritters they would definitely lose a lot of their crispiness, it needs a textured surface to get crispy
Hi Barry and family! Loving your videos, keep at it! No idea how far ahead you film but was wondering, would you consider doing some kind of seasonal recipe? With it being summer now, letting people know the different veggies and fruits they can get might encourage them to buy local and hopefully get more people making their own food if they know what's out there Not sure if you'll even see my comment but it's worth a shot anyway!
Caramelized the carrots first, medium pan (dry to stick to your 3 ingredients or in butter and oil if you're not) until the skin turns brown and caramelizes and shred like you would pulled pork or chicken instead of grate, they'll be sweeter and won't need a dipping sauce
Hey Barry, Can you do a budget dinner? If you have like family coming over or something you should do like a “Can I cook a meal for twenty people with just £10?” Love your videos and rly hope you like this idea 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻❤️❤️❤️
I liked this even through I’m not going to try any of the recipes because I really don’t like coconut or Nutella and not into fritters, especially carrot! Oh and not a fan of spinach! But I do like your videos and want to support you! Thanks for doing these and I’m doing my version of a Barithone, 😊

The samoas look good, but your missing the caramel. Which is fine by me since I dislike caramel. I love coconut and bananas though

Hey Barry! Love your stuff! Just a thought, make the coconut things in smaller bite sizes as a sweet Christmas treat
"Moist" and "Squelchy" are not the words I needed to hear when it's this hot today Barry....
lol ... that childish mind still tickles us grownups ikr only if we had a dirty mind
We need a book with all these 4x3 recipes in. Would be fantastic.
"I'm a novice in the kitchen" - I think you're a bit past novice now, you've been doing this channel long enough! :)
Haha yeah
@@mrbarrylewis you're a right professional foodie now!

It's quite frightening to say that I've been watching Barry since Phoebe was a babe!!! Wow, that's a long time 😬
Sausage and ham tortellini with a green pesto has and always will be a staple for me
Barry please do a series on cheap healthy meals it's something a lot of us struggle with especially when living alone trying to be healthy on a budget is the hardest thing ever ❤
No worries on the camera spots. I've made it a habit to avoid cleaning my glasses before each video. Looks perfect!
I'm cutting trees today, these videos help me sleep and help me get ready to work lol cheers
If you're not a fan of banana, you can use condensed milk to make a filling that's more like a Bounty bar.
What good timing!! I just pulled up UA-cam to find something to watch.
New Barry video posted 10 minutes ago!
Same right after grabbing some lunch and sitting down to eat
Awesome

I can't even see the carrot blob 🤣
Yay this is my favourite series hope u are having a happy Monday 😊
Thanks busy one trying to make panda bread 😂
Whenever I need a pan of boiling water, I boil it in the kettle before putting it in a pan on the hob. It saves a few minutes.
Me too! My kettle goes way faster than my burners do, and overall saves heating up the kitchen as much in this weather.
Cool idea!
frozen veg have the best quality when they go fast into the freezer after harvesting
That is true. They are fresher than raw vegetables in the grocery stores because they are flash frozen soon after harvest.
Glad to hear the Phobe liked the carrot fritters
3 ingredients chocolate moose. Whipping cream, Nutella and freshly roasted hazelnut bashed up in to crumbles
Lovely
It's always lovely to have a Phoebe cameo!

I was thinking a big ball of melted mozzarella could make it really tasty
You're welcome, Barry! I've always enjoyed watching you. It's a great pick me up on days I'm feeling down.
Bananas being squelchy is a lot like mushrooms being full of water that comes out while cooking. Mushrooms seem quite dry when raw.
Yeah I once had a vegan steak sandwiches with mushrooms as replacement with a dry texture was cool
I wonder if you could use sweetened condensed milk instead of banana? Then use more sweetened condensed milk and turn it into caramel drizzle that over them and then drizzle the chocolate.
Yep! Reckon you could
Those carrots look so good. I would make flatter, dip in ranch.
I make pesto and tortellini ALL the time! It's such a quick and easy meal.
Love your videos, it’s the highlight of my day. Side note - I recently discovered that oven cleaner like Easyoff cleans the bottom of pots and pans.
I save a bit of time by boiling the water in the kettle first, then pouring it in the pot to cook whatever it is I'm cooking. Love your channel & family. Keep it up!
