When you work on a car like that it's easy to get frustrated. Everything is jammed in the so tight you almost have to take apart 15 things before you can get to the part you need to replace. You just have to keep on keepin on. You da man dude 😎👍✌️
How about that a mark 8 that fights back what a concept I couldn't tell you how many I've worked on back in the day but once they are running right they do run good that's the thing about the 32 valve 4.6 is you really have to be on top of the maintenance and a well maintained one will run for a long time. Back in the day they had a recall on guides and chains so I've done a lot of them back then. Best of luck and it sounds like it maybe ready to go home. As always be safe 👍 and awesome job as always.
mine had over 230 k when i let it go, but i can say that for their time they were an awesome sleeper and the epitome of style and performance. one of the quietest cars i ever owned, sure do miss it
Congrats, success at last! I pulled one from a 1998 lsc and installed it in my 99 Mustang had some engine harness rewiring to do but it runs like a top. Soon to do a C head swap and supercharge it. Its been said those aluminum teksid blocks can handle up 1500 horse power. Piece of cake, peace!
Awesome update! Thank you Craig for bringing Lucore a project that keeps giving more content lol Seriously though, this is what it's like sometimes. Most projects don't just snap themselves smoothly together (as much as we want them to). Great job rolling with challenges and working through to the solutions 🎯
was into Mark 8's!! Always wanted to do a 5.4 navigator swap.. definitely advanced wrenching with Mark 8th, but wow.. that engine is great! 27MPG on the highway w/93 octane.. 22MPG and figity on 87, The coyote prototype..
Incredible motors with wild potential hiding under the total sleeper styling of a Lincoln. Especially the early gens, huge HUGE power potential. Unfortunately they are also not very fun to work on at all! A whole lot of what Ford learned in these went into the Terminator Cobra then into the Coyote development you are correct!
We spotted that too and it took forever to figure out, it's a light flickering through a fan and off the alternator pulley. Good catch though! It drove us nuts trying to figure out what that was! 🤪
Damned Gremlins and scrap yard motors🙄 been there done my fair share i pass the baton to you younger fellas 😆 can still do it but the want to is in short supply these days🙄😂😂 good job btw👍✌
It's a great car, it's a GREAT motor. Just an absolute nightmare together! And yes there were multiple very impressive messes in this process. And LOTS of cursing 🤬
Immediate click on the "Like", no hesitation. Yep, hear the fuel pump run a 2nd time after cranking? Fords normally do that. I noticed that wasn't happening before during the 1st attempt. She's fighting you every step of the way....
These things are really a challenge to work on, and for a "big car" there isn't much room to work with that 32v V8! We appreciate the continued support!
My 96 does this shit ,all I have to do is touch or push the crank shaft position sensor and cranks every time ,I think I should replace the pig tail aka plug
When I was a young man back in 1972 I went to work for a Ford Dealership and did very well until the Fiesta came out. Electronics were just getting started good and the California smog systems started driving everyone crazy. I quit and started working on Heavy equipment for a lot more money and the ease of working on it. I LOVE hot rods and old school mechanics but! There is NO amount of money on this earth that would make me work on this garbage of today! Be Safe and have a Great Day!
“This garbage of today” is from 25 years ago. Have you seen the actually modern cars with canbus2 and how complex and annoying they are to work on? Compared to actually modern cars, this Lincoln is a dream to work on. Granted the stuff you are talking about (pre smog & computers) is probably even easier. But I have not had the chance to work on anything pre computer. However these Mark8s are what I consider to be the last reasonably simple cars to work on (I have 2). Being in my 30s, I’m just glad that I am able to wrench on something without needing the fancy dealer computer tools. These cars are not garbage, it’s the last mostly USA made cars before the 2000s where most components went overseas.
This one certainly has. Most want to give you little challenges here and there, unfortunately with how this thing is shoehorned together a little challenge can become a BIG problem. But we're winning the war!
Like, hard to grasp it nightmare. Americans typically didn't squeeze things so tight in an engine bay. And if you're a pre 96, so OBD1... whew super fun for troubleshooting!
Honestly, that's a lot of mistakes to be making. I mean, if you know you're putting a dipstick, and/or dipstick tube, in a motor that came in a different chasis, that's something that shoild be checked prior. Lol, he didn't even pull it out before running it, so now there's shavings in the oil pan. When they noticed it rubbing the dipstick should have been pulled, and if there's damage, motor out time, or at least drop the pan and get the metal out of there. It's hardened steel being slung around the crankcase, and sucked up by the pump. He knows the ignition system, but didn't double check the wiring before firing it up? The oil filter gasket, has options, and coolant running through it. Maybe Google before we mix oil and coolant, then pump it into the oil galleys? Also, having HID headlights on while cranking is really bad for them. It's bad for any headlight, but really bad for those. Maybe I missed something. Is this meant to be a comedy channel?
@@garyjones2582 we actually have 3 C10s that you'll be seeing in the next couple weeks, two of which are currently in the shop right now. Another Code 504 swap would be great, if we can find someone looking to do one!
I like those, but I would rather have a mk 7. To go along with my coupe DeVille! You're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Not a freight train from hell!
Exactly, that light is flickering brighter and whiter. Just a few more challenges! The potential out of this 32v V8 is crazy... there may be more fun down the line for it 🤪
Once weather breaks here in Minnesota I will be up to my @ss in house work , race car , muscle cars etc… And I won’t be first anymore but I will still watch one of my favorite channels !
Should you have to remove a sub frame to repair a tranny line I would say no. You said the car was hard to work on, really just a pain in the ass, it's called FORD. I'm old now and I have owned one Ford, a 65 Mustang and that's the only Ford I would ever have
This car is squeezed together like... like idk what. Just not something you typically see in a "Big American Car". Those DOHC V8s are really really wide up top makes for some very interesting challenges.
We thought the same thing and honestly, not sure what the heck that the camera is catching. There's no visible lightning that we can see up there. Great eye though!
Oh we are for a SURE going to be happy seeing it go out the door for the final time! The odd thing is, the owner of this car is actually SUPER particular about maintenance. That's what made the whole story go sideways a couple episodes back
Is this Nightmare FINALLY over? Will it FINALLY go away!? Stay tuned next week!
These cars are consistent nightmares. There's just something about them that keeps us sucked in.

Good luck. I got a Lincoln LS V8 and it's even more of a maintenance pig than the MKVIIIs, because of the Jaguar powertrain
Had a 97. Thank goodness for coil-over-plug technology
You guys going to be glad to get that out of the shop
Oh you have no idea. Even just having the lift back after all these months would be AWESOME 👌
You're alright buddy. Didn't give up and let it beat you. No use crying, just keep plugging along till you win.
Hello Mr Lucore, nice to see progress being made in this Lincoln, it definitely had its issues!
The relief we felt when this thing fired back up could be measured in buckets. Finally on the brighter side of it!

Markviii has an oil pan that is unique to that chassis. Has an additional kickout and unique dipstick.

There is an arc unde alternator by thermostat Housing
We are still trying to sort out just what the camera is seeing. We were seeing it too but there's no arc visible by the eye
It's the shop lights reflecting off the cooling fan.
Not all cars go back together and run smoothly.. Sometimes theirs the ones that fight you tooth and nail. 😂 It’s alive!
Awesome video 📸
Thanks Richard! We appreciate the support!

Maybe barber college !!!
Yes indeed! Months and months of headaches and frustrations but we just keep working the problems... even when you just want to walk away and torch it
What is that sparking light under the intake manifold? Seems like arching
Good catch we did have a spark jumping issue.
