Lol! We actually had initially NOT planned on doing this work for him and it went to another shop... watch a few videos back it's an all sorts of twisted story
Had the same issue on an 88' E150 once after having the bellhousing welded due to it cracking. Not sure if the cracking caused some kind of deformation in the spacer or what, but the end result was a god awful scraping noise once the AOD was reinstalled. It took somewhere between 8 and 10 attempts to get the spacer corrected for the noise to go away, and yes that means we had to reinstall and remove the AOD every one of those attempts, without the benefit of a lift. My friend and I got really good at it though, being able to do a removal or reinstall in about 10 minutes by the end.
We don't have many of them around here, unfortunately Central Ohio is a bit light on quality radio. There are really only 2 decent "rock" stations anymore. The one you are hearing in the background for most of these is 96.3
I feel your pain bro. Constant battle of fighting weird stuff that keeps going wrong. My Lincoln Aviator has the same engine. I have to replace all the lash adjusters and roller rockers.
I'm fighting with project 6.0SS currently aka the Stepchild. I'm winning 1 battle at a time down to straighten the wiring up and 1 inch taller upper ball joints. Then I'm making an appointment at Lucore Automotive for the alignment.
I feel your pain Rich back in the day fortunately it was a rare occasion I would have a day like that. The fact that you never gave up makes you the man and admitting fault makes you priceless 👌 💯 this is why I so enjoy your channel and unfortunately when you mismatch parts things are about to go wrong but you hung in and whipped its but. As many of your videos that I've watched my money is on you. God bless all and as always be safe 👍
Thanks Ray we really appreciate that! A lot of these projects are just a matter of not giving up, researching the problem(s) and tackling them one bit at a time. Sometimes ... there are lots of bits. We are certainly not afraid to show our faults and mistakes, we are humans too, and we'll admit to goofs or bonehead moves. Unfortunately in our industry honesty is a bit of a forgotten trait for man, a BIG part of why we film and share all this is for our customers to see the processes and challenges of their projects. Glad you enjoy what we do and we very much appreciate the continued support!
Was about to make this very comment lol! And Austin, I think your allowed 15 seconds of a song w/out penalty ... but don't quote me on that. Also, It don't need to be on the vid, the car just *needs* to hear it! 😁
Most people would have NO idea what is hiding under the hood of this Grampa car as the owner relaxes in big soft Lincoln seats. Really cool car but VERY glad to see this one roll out the doors and show us some taillights.
We did not specifically but with the oil pan off we were able to get our fingers on most of the bottom end to verify it was indeed a well maintained low mile unit. Have a concern?
@@LucoreAuto just seemed odd that one flexplate cleared the plate but the new one didn't. Thought maybe the crank had excessive end play and moved forward during the transmission reinstall.
Ever watch a video and it just does not have the ending you expected? I so thought one of the co workers would have hid behind the car upon start up and started tapping a wrench against a piece of metal making it sound like a knock somewhere 🤣
Lol nope no shop hijinks in this one just good old fashioned automotive issues. Two things trying trying to occupy the same space at the same time. And some randomly leaking fluids.
Well hopefully it DOES return at some point but just for regular scheduled maintenance and possible upgrades down the line. But she certainly needed LOTS of love and attention!
Yeahhhhhh this one had the air ride deleted because of similar issues. May eventually go aftermarket air suspension though but the factory setup.... good luck!
@@LucoreAuto - I wish you guys were local, I'd be there in a heart beat. My issue is they have spent zero time on the car so it's more than the car being the problem.
@@KlipschHead281 ahhhhh that doesn't sound so great ☹ we will admit to letting projects languish here and there as well but 6 months with 0 time spent is a little much. Not to get TOO specific but how far from us are you? We have cars come to us from all over the region for work.
@@LucoreAuto - I'm outside of Chicago. This isn't a project, this may have to be my daily which I can't explain here. They didn't spend zero time, they simply diagnosed it as needing ride height sensors back in November and then claimed ever since they keep getting the wrong ones. I asked them if they handled the brakes or the washer fluid pump yet, he completely forgot about it so they have to order those parts now as well and I'm sure that will take weeks upon weeks. I haven't called them in 2 weeks because I know what he is going to say so I'm calling tomorrow crossing my fingers.
@@KlipschHead281 Ugh! Sorry to hear about your situation that certainly sucks and is unfortunately not all that uncommon :( Fingers crossed for you to have a semi decent resolution!
Great job Bud 👍💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸 from Alabama 👍
Thanks Bobby, sometimes you just win by not giving up!
@@LucoreAuto yep that's Right 👍🇺🇸
Great job working through all the obstacles and getting this Hot Rid Licoln back to the eager owner!
It just had one more fight left in it fortunately so did we 😀 Now if the weather would just behave around here so he could enjoy it!
I feel your pain almost every day Rich. Seems like some car's just don't want to leave.
This one for sure was becoming a fixture around the shop... and being a MASSIVE hold up for productivity
We really need to see a road test!
Next time that customer calls don't answer the phone !! 🤣

Oh you've no idea how many prayers, AND curses were uttered over and around this car.
@@LucoreAuto hopefully the gentleman that brought it in will sell so you don't have to work on it again at least we can hope

Another fine job by Rich at Lucore!!
Thanks Billy we appreciate the support and encouragement!
One thing for SURE no Quit in Lucore Team
No QUIT, but .. WALK AWAY IN FRUSTRATION FOR A BIT ... sometimes 😉
Dang, good work! I still think you should have happy Gilmore show up and have a talk with it 😁😆😅🤣
Lol, it he wants to stop by we have plenty of projects he could talk to!
Great job on that Beast , hate that it had to be such a monster to work on ! Still enjoyed the video as always
Hey if they were all easy everyone would do this stuff right? We appreciate the watch and support!
I hate those spacer plates!!!!! The capri should have one also!!
Totally wasn't even on our radar as a potential issue. Fortunately it all worked out in the end
Just put a sensor in the oil pan and eliminate the dipstick...lol..
Lol that's certainly an option. Install an "Oil or no oil" light 😉
No oil light sounds great.. good video guys..
Problem is no Commander Cody playing Hot Rod Lincoln in back ground, just saying.
Not allowed to use that track in the videos or you best believe we would!

Having worked in a shop, we occasionally ran into vehicles that we just hated with a passion.
This one we love, we just really really hate it. The engine is great, the car is great, just the two of them make a bit of a nightmare couple.
I’m a caddy fan and owner but who wouldn’t love ❤️ a good hot rodded Lincoln Super cool guys

Have you ever seen a Pontiac 421 with 2 four barrel carburators
Sitting in line but the carburators are turned at a angle sideways ?
Did you happen to check the crank endplay?
