The snake was definitely a cottonmouth/ water moccasin. The big bluegill are what we call GA bull hybrids. They can get up to the 3.5 pound range
3.5 lbs. Really? Wow up here in New England 2 lbs. is a Monster. Those are Bull Gills!
In Georgia that possibly could be a cottonmouth
with that triangle-shaped head, I'm pretty sure it's a cottonmouth
Me too!
Yep. They float higher out of the water than banded water snakes too.
Looks like a white oak
It's venomous I can tell that from the triangular head shape
Venomous snakes have more of a capacity for buoyancy and can remain primarily on top of the water. Likely a cottonmouth; best to leave them ol’ boys alone. Nice video!
Looks like a water moccasin, aka cotton mouth. Those things are the devil lol. They're super mean and aggressive
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Yep
@@TreyJ. yep
Snake came to check out what all that splashin was.
I think he wanted one of those crappies haha
@@FishHawk Yup! He was like hey throw me a crappie!!
Throwing lures into random spots...that's the most exciting part for me. The unknown
Exactly, haha! Found a random culvert under a road the other day, threw a crappie jig in there, came out with a largemouth! 😂😂
@@KevinRapkochFishing exactly, and it's all Intel for yourself. If you don't get a bite fairly qui jlu you don't need to waste time and can move on
@@yep.fishing absolutely! 🤜🤛
Absolutely 🙌🏻
The crappie looks stunning. Awesome patterns and colors.
I’m from Texas and I remember the first time catching a crappie I was so confused since I had no idea what it was. Was really fun catching em, GREAT VIDEO
That's the kind of fishing I love..
Awesome job buddy! That’s interesting spot and it was indeed filled with lots of fish! New places are always filled with fish! I’d say that snake was a cottonmouth and poisonous snakes swim on top of the water!
Thanks buddy!
Had a viper shaped head as well.
Lot's of crappie today nice change of pace video that snake was pretty cool too those bluegill were massive
Thanks Randy!
I grew up in Northeast Texas, and we always pronounced it as Craw-P.
Regardless of how you say it, it still eats good.
Yeah here in the south we call it crappie like crappy. Yes, still good eating!!!
It is craw-p in KY. Northerners call them crap-ee.
In New Mexico, we say CRAH-pee…I don’t know how these fish were named, but wasn’t there any better word?
In Alabama it’s “croppie” too. Never heard anyone say crappy lol
Gotta love just fishing to catch fish. No matter what species! Good work brother
You can tell by the head shape that was a viper. Definitely a dangerous snake
After seeing that cotton mouth I'm not sure I would stick my hand in that water. Brave man FH!
YOLO haha
OH is that a Fleuger President Reel???!!!
Me no like Snakes, looked like a water moccasin. Nice Crappy 👍
Yeah, water moccasin.
If he says Crappie like that ONE more time!!! Lmao imma scream!!
We think Yankees sound funny when they say it down south. Lmao
That's the first snake you have showed us
Don’t see many fortunately haha
Thank you for the way you treat the sport of fishing resources in the outdoors I really appreciate your knowledge and care you take out what u bring again thank you wish I could meet you and fish with you
Love that type of fishing and crappie taste awesome
A joy to see you toss into the random and unknown and hook up! Happy you still make time in intro to tell of equipment(consistently) using as well. Would be fun if had time for you to do a tad of micro fishing for kicks. Enjoy that area and keep getting us hooked.
Those were the prettiest crappie. I've ever seen! The colors were beautiful.
Good idea to wear some chaps walking around these woods in warm weather. Copperheads are plentiful and some scary looking Diamond Backs.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Loved : "wonder what kind of snake that is......." Shows no doubt you're not a local Georgia boy else you'd da recognized that snake in an instant. I'd exercise a bit more caution when fishing and meandering about south Georgia swamp waters. Lots of creatures in and around those types of waters that can bite a hell of a lot worse than the bugs and mosquitos!!! Good luck.
Louisiana seconds this motion.
Alabama thirds this motion
Outstanding video….thanks for posting!!
Cotton Mouth / Water Moccasin.
Diamond shaped head is a giveaway your looking at a pit viper.
Note how it swims with the upper half of its body above the waterline.
Georgia has a good population of "Water Snakes" which look very similar to Moccasins , however they tend to swim with their body under the water and their head lifted above it.
Great video man been wanting to get out and make some fishing videos myself, really appreciate you slowing the video down and explaining everything from your gear to how you’re fishing, subscribed keep up the great work buddy
Thank you! 😃
Beautiful Crappy and my favorite eating fish, bluegills yesss sir 💯‼️
Come to witness the excitement of the fishing ... great greetings of success and always the spirit and sustainable greetings my brother
For 1st time on a spot, you did well.starting out finesse is very logical.
I HATE snakes! But I love watching your videos and listening to your commentary. Thanks for showing us your setup. Keep up the great work!
Man, this was a CRAPPIE video!!!! 😂😂😂 Good work, Fish Hawk! ✌️🎣
Thanks Kevin!
Nice ifshing there as usual. The snake was an Eastern Cottonmouth/Water Moccasin. You can tell 'em by the fact that their bodies are mostly out of the water, and diamond shaped heads. Good thing you were not down there in waders. LOL!! Nevertheless, he would have checked you out, but not swam up to you and bit you.
Yeah that was a cotttonmouth you can tell by his diamond shaped head body length and thickness ! Definitely don’t want that one to bite ya. He’s fishing too ! Maybe new nickname cottonmouth da fish slayer
That's what I was thinking.
(( 🐊 )) now that looks like alligator's territory, for sure it does. Just be careful in that surrounding area. cool snake there.
This was one really cool fish-catching video
Yep, I enjoyed watching.
Thanks Shawn! Glad I didn’t see any gators haha
@@FishHawk
You're very welcome,
At least you seen a big snake
Definitely a water moccasin.
Those bluegills were tanks
Very cool video, kind of a Forrest Gump box of chocolates trip. and that last bluegill was a tank!
Awesome bro my favorite type of fishing !
Just found your channel. This was an awesome video. Those Blue Gill were huge.
Thanks a bunch! 😎
With that bobber set up you wanna run regular earth worms
Ask your buddy about the "stumpknockers" ....... those are "good eatin"
That Snake was a Water Moccasin the only semi-aquatic snake in North America and they are highly venomous.
I wouldn't care what kind of snake it was, as long as it left me alone!
Cottonmouth Moccassin. I'd know that black look and triangular head anywhere... especially in this type of habitat. He's healthy, too.
That one crappie swam off like a flounder
Great color!
Awesome man, just AWESOME!🙂👍 Love seein new areas and the species that can be found in them. Anutha great vid bro. Kinda curious how the action would be if ya threw a fly off of a weighted float.🤔 Keep these vidz comin my friend. Peace ✌😎
What a dream spot.
Lol crAppie... its pronounced crOppie.. After eating mcdonalds i took a huge crAppie!
Awesome video brother
Them EPF swims are undefeated. They always work here in Jersey
Looks like an old cotton mouth. Used to catch the baby ones and bring them in the house and scare my momma with them lol.
That's what I was thinking.
Nice size fish hawk
The title of your video is how I picked up crabs and I don’t mean pick them up with my hands. I caught the wrong anything that bites deal on a Saturday night. Yes I did.
Cottonmouth/Mocassin is what that snake was. They’re poisonous and the meanest snakes we got down here. Most snakes will run away from ya, but those will stand their ground
That’s a stocked area with an automatic feeder so it not a stretch that you would be catching a crapload of crappie and bluegill. I doubt the choice of ultralight rig, line and bait was random, nor the location. It was a cottonmouth .
The videos are great man just ordered a fish hawk rod, a few spinners, and a shimano ultegra. I wanted to make a new trout combo, what better one.
Thank you so much! Hope you love it!
I thought that net was a baseball cap lmao~
I have that same fluegar fishhawk. For 50 bucks or whatever it is it’s hard to beat. Fish on!
True that! Fish on!
Finally someone that says crappie right.. Lol. Good content
Really. That's how how you pronounce it. I always thought it was the other way.
@@kylemarzion2814 I've always said it the way it sounds. Not sure how people get croppie out of crappie. Lol
I only use Pfluger reels. You are catching some of the best eating fish there is lol
Cool video. But I hate snakes of any kind I live in the Northeast Massachusetts. I will wrestle a grizzly bear before I mess with a garden snake. Lol
*As Joe Rogan explodes into the comments section* "DO YOU KNOW WHAT BEARS ARE CAPABLE OF!!???!!??!?"
thats how i do it fish for anything that bites great job its ice here and that suks
The snake was a Cotton Mouth very venomous. When hiking in woods of Georgia you have to watch your step.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.
Yep. Cottonmouth.
Bluegills have been nuts by me in NY
First time seeing your channel. Like it. Subscribing. My first thought on seeing that site was way too many snags to be enjoyable but that little tiny float kept that from happening. Always fun to fish new water and fun to watch.
Cotton mouth right there and they love hunting around beaver damns
Wow so good 😑👏
I think quite a few people don't realize how good crappies and bluegills are to eat.
Looks like a water snake to maybe Midland but I'm no expert lol
Triangular head, thick/heavy body and short tail = Water Moccasin aka Cottonmouth..im surprised he didnt wait for you to toss a crappie back snd dart out to catch it (had one do that to bass ).. be careful.. they will move away from you and turn back to watch you also
Wow.
Is The best.
Indeed. Do you take your kid fishing?
Definitely a cottonmouth.
I like your content great job!
Awesome video!
Man dis dude had a crappy day fishin
I like this videos,,,,love from indonesia
Great video; the adventure breeds the excitement 🎉🎉🎉
Why in the hell would you throw those crappie back? Mannnnn. You’re messing up. Loved the vid.
Having that float on may save your jig from getting the occasional snag, but it also limits the motion of the jig.
It was😮
Coppernose bluegill
Maybe a yellow perch ,not sure
Sure looks like our swamp......looks like south Georgia plantation
OMG... stop...its not CRAP-EE...its Craw--pee......lmao
What is that place a walking trail ? Would like to go there and fish and take some pics
I'd be eating crappie it's ashame to throw those vitals back
Jigs are not suppose to sit still brother lol always gotta move it.. called jigging for a reason lol
That’s a Cotton mouth- they are territorial and don’t like you fishing in they’re space.
🐟
CRAWPY not crap-E
If you can get some legal crappie culled out of there those little guys will thrive good for the ecosystem
huk fishing
Good afternoon ! Fish hawk. What are the name and size of that spinning rod and spinning reel and the name and size of that fishing line that you are used in this UA-cam video please. I love watching your UA-cam videos. May the lord bless you and your family and your UA-cam page in 2023 🙏🤙
Looks like he was using some ultralight spinning gear. LIght line, did he say 6 lb? I think so.
I thought it was Crop-E
Cotton mouth (Water Moccasin)100%
No idea what kind of snake, but i would say the type you should stay away from
I try staying away from all of them haha
Would you say is was a crappie day?
Yep for sure. Those were some nice slab bluegill at the end though.
@@jessejamesfishing My pun was not appropriated
CAUGHT A GOLD AND SILVER BLACK ONE ONCE CRAPIE
