These south florida trips are some of my favorite videos. My 25 yr. Old son and I have talked about making this trek. Hopefully it will happen and we will catch fish, make videos and bring home memories.
Used to catch Peacock Bass when I was in the army and stationed in Panama. They had cayman, related to alligators, around when would fish, always made it more interesting.
You did alright for Loxahatchee, right down the road from me. We've had two cold snaps since then with some serious kills of the introduced fish but they always make it through. For peacocks, snakeheads and knife fish you will do better east of the Lox spillways or south. For the big peas I head down to Brazil and Colombia but our little guys on light tackle fill in the gaps between trips.
I lived about 3 miles from Loxahatchee for a few years. It’s amazing how close you can be to one of largest metropolitan areas of the country and see one of the wildest places in the country.
Awesome scenery thanks John, beautiful fish love those Peacock Bass no matter what size! Nice shot of big mamma, I counted 7 little fellas. Ever go back and want BIG bass, try Kissimmiee river or Orange Lake, Alachua county, south of Hawthourne, it won't let you down! God Bless you John, (Glen). WV.
I need to get back to South Florida. I was on the west side of Miami and had so much fun with the Peacocks, the Mayans, Jaguar Gapotes, and so many more. The canals were so full of fish. If anyone is thinking about getting their child or someone else into fishing, go to Miami. Go the canals around the Ikea and Bass Pro. By the culverts, drop a bread ball and let the new fisherperson fight some of those fish. They fight really hard and are easy to catch so the new person will be hooked (pun intended). LOL!!
The Miami Amazon baby! Biggest peacocks in the country in the canals of pinecrest and Palmetto Bay !! Look up monstermike on UA-cam so you see the monster peacocks
@@demcanes01 I watched him and several others when I learned I was going down to Miami for work. The biggest Peacock I caught was just over or under 5 pounds. I can't remember now because it was four years ago. Those things fight like no other. What a blast.
Those ditches can get a little bigger than what most folks would think right offhand, and the fish and wildlife are pretty abundant in general, of many different species of varying seriousness. 😁🎣
I lived 26 years in SW Florida. One thing I did miss was hills and mountains. I miss the warm winters.Florida is definitely flat. I truly enjoy your videos! Keep it reel 🎣🎣
That's some fun footage!! Pretty interesting to see how fish adapt to their environment i.e. turning so dark in color . Great production value on this one like the drone video etc. Appreciate all the work you put into bringing us along on your adventures!!!
Man what a beautiful day! Im grateful you were able to go out and enjoy it safely. I'm living vicariously through you brother! It was -16 degrees up here in Mass last night. Cannot wait for the warm weather.
It's amazing how many places you find to fish. You have definitely improved by leaps and bounds on the use of your drone. Amazing footage. Thanks for taking us along on your Florida trip.
You made a great point there! His use of the Drone has improved greatly, as has his use of the close-up video equipment that he uses. Seems like he's been doing some upgrading from time to time, as compared to when he first started out. The video footage, I'd say, was pretty good at first, but at times, maybe a little shaky, or a little bit wobbly...but only a little bit. Now... it's like watching a Classic Fishing Show, the likes of Roland Martin, Bill Dance, and Jimmy Houston. Brother John has proven his worth, that's for sure! He's worked very hard...and it definitely shows! My only wish, vis that he keeps on raking in the Subscribers. He's worth it!
Fished there many, many times as a kid to an adult. Believe it or not, that far west from the ocean, Snook and Tarpon can be caught there, there are so many underground springs.
Your Florida videos inspired me to plan a trip down there to visit some friends. Not quite South Florida, but looking forward to trying to catch some bass, snook, and redfish when it’s still winter up here. Thanks for the great content and the inspiration.
I'm going fishing tomorrow evening after I get off of work. Suppose to be 68 here in NW AL. Gonna hit up my favorite creek. I caught my first smallie of the year out if it last week along with some more rockbass. I would love to go fishing in south Florida. It looks amazing. 👊👍
Those last couple of hits were probably from a gar. Gar and pike will both hit multiple times. Gar are also notoriously hard to hook. Super agressive hitting but they aren't always super accurate with their attacks, haha.
Those were some beautiful fish you caught the colors were so nice it was like a painting of a sunset. I mean what else would I expect from an amazing fisherman like you. 😊
These are my favorite videos by you. In fact they inspired me to take a trip to the Everglades last March and I had an absolute blast. I know you have a significant following that watches you kayak around and catch bass and various sunfish in your home state, but doesn't hold my attention like the cichlids in Florida. That's probably because I can catch bass and sunfish where I live and they just don't get me overly excited, cichlids on the other hand, are far more exotic, and not something I can just walk out my door and catch. I can't wait to see what your next trip to Florida will produce.
I live in Palm Beach county where Loxahatchee is. Let the frog sit until the waves from the cast are gone, then give the fish 1 more second before setting the hook. I am talking strictly frog fishing. You can do whatever, but that's how I get a much higher catch %. I know they released peacock bass in 2 lakes in Palm Beach county, they mainly released them in Broward and Dade county's. I think lake Osborne and another I can't think of right now. I have caught huge Peacock bass myself out of lake Osbourne. They're some funky looking fish. You can camp at lake Osbourne and kayak, but you have to bring your own kayak, there are no rentals. I tent camp there in the winter, way too hot in the summer. At least I hate the heat, some don't care.
The canals right off of Military produce Snakehead and Peacock. But the cold put a lid on that. Got some decent Bass last week...Like I mention, live shiners produce better then artificial.. Perks in Boyton Beach for bait
Cannot get used to seeing gators. Even when my brother and I fished the Big O.. 20 years ago Ocochobee ,gators in the canals and manatees on the main lake. Felt like fishing at the zoo but inside it
Great drone footage. What an abundance of fish that they have there and Gators and snakes and iguanas and birds tropical Paradise. I know it's a great place to visit, but I still prefer your Tennessee footage. That's just my kind of scenery and water.
Welcome back to our great State John! The fishing there is a blast. I live in coastal West Central Fla., but fish down that way as often as I can, usually to and from the Keys. It’s a totally different world down there, thru Big Cypress and the Glades. A lot of it still very much wild and raw. Keep looking around like you are, and around down the Alley there are countless ‘ponded’ areas in the roadside canals like you fished. Your gear and lures are dead on, I’d suggest adding a Texas rigged plastic worm weightless, and Beetle-spins in black, yellow and chartreuse in assorted sizes to the lineup. All proven over decades ( I’m an old guy ) 😁! Best of luck on your next trip!
Man I need to go there, that's a fisherman's paradise, except for the alligators, that one that babies was huge, to bad you couldn't ride a 4 wheeler in there or a golf cart, great drone footage as far as the eye could see nothing but marsh land beautiful, it does the mind good to see things like that! 🎣👍
The fishing is as awesome as advertised, and the gators just need to be respected and given whatever space they need to not feel threatened or crowded. Avoiding a mama with babies is among the important rules. Another key one is ‘all bets about coexisting harmoniously’ go out the window after the sun goes down. Wade fishing or anything closely to it are a very bad idea. Be in a real boat.
haha you're over on the east coast John. You need to get back there and catch that SnakeHead John. Went right under that flat rock. Yep, weather has been wonky here lately. It's been cold for down here but still it's hard to beat. John, you'll have a great time any time your down here. Been watching you a while now. Always enjoy your vids.
I lived in Hialeah for many years, unfortunately you were throwing the wrong lure in the first pond. Peacock Bass are high energy fish, usually a speed worm will work or a lipless crankbait. They are not fans of halfway moving lures like jerkbaits. Pond Hoping in Miami sure is an adventure!! careful approaching banks, not so much for Gators but more like for bad venomous Snakes!! they love to hang by the shore. Welcome to Miami!! Really enjoy your video.
@@CreekFishingAdventures I forgot to say they are SUPER Picky sometimes as what can be the right lure! 🙂I wish I could show you the 9lbs Peacock my Nephew caught in Lake Worth Fl. Where he lives.
When ever I fish in south Florida I notice that the tropical fish go into deeper water and don’t feed nearly as aggressively during the winter. In the summer you basically get hit as soon as the lure hits the water.
Awesome Fishing, fishing is about to discover! no matter if it is amazon or a creek in the neighborhood! Enjoyed every catch ( and release) Certainly different species that we have here in south america
I live just a couple of miles from the entrance of the park you went to. Walking around fishing is not great as people hit it every day, I have fished a couple of dozen times and the fish just dont bite, except the Mayan Cichlid . The ponds and canals throughout Boca, Parkland, and Coral Springs have much better bites and some huge fish. The lake in my backyard I have pulled in 10,11, and 12lb bass, huge snakehead, and about 6 other varieties. You did mention next time some people will take you out on a boat, you will catch some beasts.

Watch out for the eastern rattlesnake , you just put your hands next to the prime spot with out looking 🤔. PS I love fishing at places like that in the Dismal swamp areas of North Carolina , the water looks like dark Tea and the Chain pickerel is king
Very true! I actually cringed when he did that in the video! My first thought was ‘cotton-mouth hole’! PLEASE don’t do that again John, those are serious snakes that will ruin your day for the next couple of weeks if not months. Please be aware and safe! 😉👍
