It's a beautiful tank! I just got one. And I did the same thing with the lid at the end of the video. They really should have developed some kind of apparatus so we can do maintenance. I ended up with a few scratches of wall paint but was able to get them out with elbow grease.
The fluval cabinet to fit this is a fair bit lower than most, some may like some not, personally I like it, it blends well height wise with my TV and furniture, not towering above.
For the blooper at the end don’t worry about it happens more common that you know. I own the 9 and the 15 gallon flex and I drop the lid over 20 times.
Why they didn't hinge it or at least add a couple of plastic "legs" to prop it on the glass with, I don't know. Sigh. I'm going to try to mod mine somehow.
@@thezenofchaos Someone is selling 3D-printed braces they designed, so that it will hold up the lid while you access the interior. Sorry, but I don't know the link offhand. Maybe check the Flex Fans group on Facebook? I think that's where I saw it, and I think the guy sold some to PeckTec, a big Fluval-fan youtuber.
Where do you place the heater please ? As I placed in the middle with pump but the flow of water in there is non existent so surely won't get a even temperature ?
They are very different looking tanks. Tbh Juwel tanks are very good quality and so are Fluval. Its really down to which you prefer the look of because quality wise they are both A* grade
The filtration area is siliconed to the glass, potentially removable, but not the easiest, and at your own risk. I've heard of a couple of people doing it on the smaller ones, but not this one yet.
I wonder what the usable capacity is given that the other two models will be much less because the filter takes up a lot of room at the back? Nice tank but I think I prefer the filter to go all the way across the back so it is all black like the smaller Flex siblings. Unfortunately, this is too big to replace my current aquarium. It is just a little bit too long. I would like to see an even smaller Flex. A Nano style one of around 5 gallons or 22L. A lot of bigger aquariums today seem to be quite boxy and we see less and less long ones in length. I think there is a market for a modern aquarium like this big Flex but one that is more stretched out in length and less boxy. Still, a decent tank and having that light does make it seem good value for money. The filter looks like it will be pretty good even though it is not as aesthetically pleasing as on the other Flex models.
The Fluval Flex 34L, or 9 gallon, only has 6.5 gallons of usable space, which frustrated the hell out of me. You can't really stock it any better than a 5 gallon (just not the space for the fish size, growth, or activity level), yet the filtration is powerful enough for a 20-30 gallon tank (meaning you have to baffle the flow for bettas, the most appropriate stock for that tank). It really doesn't make any sense for them to come out with a smaller one, because no fish would do well in a "22 L" that would actually have less than 4 gallons/4 litres of space. You could look to the SPEC series, where they have a smaller-sized range (although the smallest was discontinued as too small/challenging for proper habitat). (sorry for the imperial measurements, here in Canada we hobbyist are stuck with US dominance, and have to go against our metric natures).
I've got one for about 3 month's now, I swapped out the filter with a external one. I have put the original filter of the flex in now, but it's sucking all the water out of the filter area so to speak. Do you know how to stop it?
You'd want a different light, at least if you were looking to grow corals. This light has the proper lighting spectrum for planted tanks, while you need a much higher K value for corals. I've also seen some criticisms of Fluval marine-modified Specs, called the EVO, so you might want to check out those reviews to see where you might want to be careful with a saltwater conversion of this.
I bought this tank December 2019 and WOW! Great all round tank. Fantastic lighting and superb filter. Not lost one fish. Easy to clean. Build quality is outstanding!!!
Do not run sponge filters in any of the fluval tanks. I have the fluval 16 gallon panoramic tank. The moisture collects in the non removable fluval hoods and compromise the light. That is the only problem I've had with their tanks.
I have 1 , not nessesarily complaint. but it is notable. Less of a noob might catch it. but it claims to have a 15.5 footprint. and floorsplace thats accurate. but the box filter on the inside takes up about 3 inches. the reason I baught it was for the floorspace. my landowner wont let me go over 40, I picked this cause of the footprint. spent a lil extra, and the floorprint is only the true floor space at about 10 or 20 percent of the sides, so its not actually better for fish that can potentially get bigger then you would normally want in a typical 30 gal. I didnt notice it till it was set up. so be aware folks. also I dont like the lid. I wish it folded at half or 1/4 or something so I can drop the food in random areas, rather then one spot. I suppose u can manipulate the current to disperse it. But I like picking where I drop it. then the bully fish dont nesesarily hog it as much , but ya i suppose it will disperse. take a bit of the fun away though, and knowledge of whee to vacume potential left over food
Now, about tearing all that garbage out and adding a HOB or 2 sponge filters? I like the "idea" but rather filter my own way and utilize all that space
Personally I'm glad my Fluvals didn't come with one, I much prefer Eheims for their reliability, plus I don't use heaters in all my tanks, anyway (heat the fishroom, and have goldfish). No point in extra cost for something many of us won't use.
Everyday Aquarist the glare, and camera can’t expose on the highlight and dark filter bay. Good info as always, but it was the glare. Not meant as a negative criticism, but feedback for next time
Enjoy. Interested to see who watches the whole video
the blooper was classic!

I'm using a piece of wood that i carved a notch in. Works perfectly for me.
Wow! I would love to set one of those up as a small reef tank.
Me too!
@@EverydayAquarist They have a marine version out now.

Any idea what the actual internal water capacity is? I know for some tanks that can differ a fair amount from the labeled size.
What is the difference between the freshwater and saltwater kit?
Thanks for posting! I am looking forward to upgrading my Flex 15 to this tank.

Hi, looking at getting my first tank. I’m thinking of getting this fluval flex 123 or juwel Rio 180. What would you recommend. Cheers

Everyday Aquarist thanks for the reply. Wondering about the filtration and the difficulty of scaping.👍🏼
they need to do a 4ft one is the wier hung on the glass as in removable ? i'd run a external mod the lid if need be

Thankyou!!
The blooper made me laugh, that’s always happening to me with my 57l flex!!
would you be able to add a 3.0 LED PLant instead of the specific aquasky light? as the second light
Thank you for the review! How loud is the pump? Would you have this in your bedroom?
It has a noise to it, I would replace the pump with a quieter model
@@EverydayAquarist thank you!
Where can you put the tubing for a CO2 diffuser on this tank or a UV algae filter? I think the tank is completely sealed.

Still needs better filtration I add media baskets on mine and could do with flow changing
Where do you go to buy Fluval tanks?
I said oh shit just before you did at the end there haha. thanks so much for making this ❤
So do you get the heater and filter included with this
Filter yes heater no
Also do you need to seal the tank with aquarium sealant inside to stop leaks

You are not the first to mention this.
Did you figure it out finally ?
do you know if it is possible to run it as a marine tank? it says only for fresh water?
Yes it is

Anyone know what size aquasky light you need for this aquarium?
The Fluval Aquasky 750mm, if you purchase the Fluval Flex then one comes with the aquarium.
Is this available in America?
I would have thought so as Fluval is American company

Not really

Such a nice tank’ should have it set up better.
