RC Boat Vector SR65 - simple review and first run

  • This is the Vector SR65. They also make an SR30, SR48, and an SR80 and I think the number relate to the length in cms.
    This is the brushless version ARTR (almost read to run) which means it has everything but the battery and charger. If you want that get RTR. They is also PNP (Plug and Play) which means you'll need radio gear as well. The prices vary accordingly. Depends what you already have. Brushed versions are slower, so be careful of that too.
    The boat self-rights although this characteristic varies depending on the size and location of the battery. It also water-cools the motor and ESC (electronic speed controller). People seem to recommend a 3S 2200mAh LiPo such as an Overlander for example (35C).
    Mixture of metal and plastic parts at the rear, so this is part hobby grade. In the video I show how I help to keep the receiver dry. I also add some vinal stickers.
    They claim the boat does 55kph but I suspect 45kph is more likely which would = 28mph (on 3S). I reckon on 4S it might do quite a few mph more. Still it is fast and a lot of fun. Really enjoyed myself with this one. Might not be the prettiest boat I have but it is fast enough for me right now.
    Music is Popcorn by M&H band and also Lost Beats by Prodigy.

      @@elcamalotecamalote2422 I used a little plastic container for gloves used for hair colour. You may be able to find something similar in an art store or online. Or look in a Range or Wilco for a plastic box container for something else. Maybe something that holds a selection of screws for example.

      Maybe on TV? I do model railways - Hornby A Model World, and the Great Model Railway Challenge, and also years ago did Robot Wars. Or maybe other UA-cam videos?

      Thanks David. I'm not trying to sell it just giving a review lol. But I was impressed by it when I drove it. Thankfully this keeps my reflexes on the limit as I get older. Probably good practice.

    On the 4th 4S run the ESC went. My friend said he found the same thing happened with his Atomic. So I am upgrading to a water-proof 40A version rather than the 20A. Nov 2021.

      Does the stock motor support 4S battery? I have a 40A 4S ESC and i want to put it on the boat.

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  27 днів тому

      @@Desdinova666 I'm not sure how long the stock motor would last. When I tried 4S it lasted 5 runs before the ESC burnt out and I had to replace it. I now run 3S. But it did go faster and was great fun. As fast as the larger version SR80 when we drag raced them.

    Hello,this is Wayne from Pennsylvania, i have an sr65 like yours the esc burnt-out so i got a 40 amp seaking esc it works but it cuts out at full throttle sporadically?? Weird. Didnt try it in the water yet it was just bench testing, but esc tends to get hot quickly and connections at motor? Is 40 amp to much or should i go back to stock 30 amp esc? Using stock batteries. 😮 thanks Wayne.!

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  11 місяців тому

      Are you using 3S? Then I'd buy a replacement ESC. It should go fine on 3S I myself have a Shark 40Amp and that cuts out also but only on 4S and it is fine on 3S so I just use 3S now.

    My engine doesn’t turn on. I have a other yellow red and maroon cable. Do I plug that into the transmitter right now in my transmitter I have black red and white my Rutter turns but the engine prop does not spin. Please help.

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  4 місяці тому

      It's a bit hard to say exactly what's wrong from your description. If the rudder turns then you seem to be getting signal. The transmitter should go on first, then plug in power, it should beep after a couple of seconds, then everything should go. Maybe someone else can say?

      @@Calvertfilm thank you I end up figuring it out. It was the little connector wasn’t connected. The Rutter was connected, but the actual propeller wasn’t.
      On another note, I have a smaller boat and that controller interferes with this is there anyway to change the frequencies of the controllers

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  4 місяці тому

      @@StephenOrmsby-xt1pw Good glad you sorted it. Regarding your question I do not know if the on-board stuff can change as such. My understanding is that the way this 2.4Meg system works is the frequency constantly changes between transmitter and receiver, very quickly, so that helps keep things operating in case of a dodgy frequency. Just going on what I've been told about 2.4Meg. For other advice such as when I replaced my receiver, I went to my local model shop.

    Hi! I just got this boat…on a fully charged battery, it only runs fast for about 2 mins then will automatically slow down for about 2 mins then repeat that for the entire 20 min run time. Very frustrating…what is happening, it has happened on 2 separate boats

    should i get this or the arrow, i know you have both . looking for speed and to be able to get the most aftermarket/upgrade parts. i was looking tyraxxx because tyhey are the bigger brand but i really like the arrow for some reson but this thing looks quick.....ugly..but quick. great videos

    • @Calvertfilm
      @Calvertfilm  Рік тому

      Yes you are right the Arrow is the nicer one in terms of looks and does 22 mph. But the SR65 Vector does 25 mph and rides the water better, and is the one I tend to use the most, so the one I'd go for out of these two. Either are great fun machines. Depends on the size of your water too. This pond is an oval about 180x100ft.
