RC boat Vector SR65 ESC Replacement

- In this video I replace the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) of the radio control SR65 Vector speedboat.
This shows how I did it. Please feel free to add comments or suggestions as I was learning as I did it. Once I replaced the ESC, the transmitter (power first, then switch on transmitter) still would not connect (bind) as the ESC wanted it to do it another way (transmitter on first, then plug in power). In the end after trying various options at Pegasus Models, I opted to buy a better controller and that replaced the receiver too, and it all then connected straight away. They did this for me in the shop. Both the ESC and transmitter wanted Transmitter on first, and then everything was happy. It does show that not all electronic items are compatible. Still I now have a spare transmitter and receiver, the original Vector ones.

Funny enough I installed the Shark ESC on my SR65 last week. Shark escs are very good quality
Yes it seems to go fine, although on 4S it did cut out I think to protect the circuits but on 3S it is quite happy. Run it several times now.
@@Calvertfilm I've changed the motor to a 2830 4000kv and get similar speeds on 2s but it chokes on 3s full throttle. As long as I'm at 2/3 throttle or less it's ok
@@redditchrc960 That's interesting. My model shop said that if I changed motor, size of prop etc that it can all have knock-on effects, as you point out here.
@@Calvertfilm The prop change is right I tried a 1.4 pitch on the stock motor and it was cutting out

Goes fast on a 4S but I might just use it on 3S from now on.
How do you get the both directions on the esc? Im looking into the shark esc
Mine was installed by my local model shop, so hopefully someone else can comment to help you.
Nice work did the motor not burn out with the 40 amp esc ?
No seems fine as the battery power is only 3S now. I did try 4S but the ESC just cuts out here and there still. So 3S it is.

ESC doesn't increase the speed. Going to a bigger battery does though.
