I really like that you continue to show how capable these old cameras are at producing quality footage & images!
I have that 25mm with my G7 and the only downside with this kind of setup is that clients some times don't take you seriously when they don't see you using a gargantuan amount of gear, but always shut them up by delivering fast and great quality wich such a nifty setup, it's a very versatile lens.
I went from Portland and am in Texas now. I can't wait to get that going back home feeling whenever I can
What part of Texas?
New office is looking sharp.
I use the same 25mm with my GH5, and I also enjoy the 14-42 kit lens for vlog type setups. I use the Panasonic app to set focus and framing and with the RØDE VideoMicro, I have a pretty lean setup.
Your new office looks very contrasty, and i looks pretty nice!
12-35 is the biz. After buying this, I sold a lot of lenses. If only the sister 35-100 had a closer focus distance...
Nice super light setup. Love it. Many thanks Nigel!
Glad to have you back in PDX!
Couldn’t agree more! I have the zoom for my Em5 and really haven’t cared for any other lens after using it (for video, anyway)
The new office is awesome man, love that space!
Great video again!
Wow Nigel you are back in Oregon . I still have my GH3 it never get old the 14mm lens will go great with it Thanks
So glad you're back in Oregon!
Me too!
I had the Panasonic 20mm f1.7, which is a good alternative to the 25mm too.
I love your channel as it helps to reenforce the correct choice I made of going with the micro 4/3 system ever since I got the original BMPCC. I currently have the G7 as well, though I want to upgrade to the GH5. I've recently bought the 25mm f1.7 and I can't wait to use it in my next short film. I definitely want the 12-35mm too, which would replace the standard 14-42 f3.5-5.6. The only good thing about that one is the stabilisation.
I totally agree. I use the GH3 with this lens for years now and it's the finest combo for any video shooting.
Awesome scenario
That office look really inviting. I can imagine it´s a calming place to be in and edit videos. The 12-35 is a great lens. It is my go to when I do filming stuff. Beside that lens I use the Mitakon 25mm f0.9 by Zhongyi. Even in really low light I can still get usable footage.
Oh that's awesome, I've been wanted to try out some 0.95 lenses
@@NigelBarros I know the Mitakon has some flaws, but I can deal with everything in that lens. I use it for 100% of my UA-cam videos lately and always at f0.9. Sure it has some chromatic aberration, but it's something I can live with.
Love the 12-35🙌
Love the new office! For me the Sigma 16mm 1.4 is the UA-cam goat 🐐
Yeah that's lens is sick, even better on APS-C too!
The 16mm / F1.4 Sigma is essential- i still use mine even though I have S5 and pro zoom lenses - there is something magical about this lense - but for sure not as cheap as the others.
MK 2 is indeed a versatile lens 😯 didn't know u could do that much with it
I just bought the 12-40 f2.8 from Olympus for my EM1 MkII and I am testing it... let's see how it goes. Nice video! Thanks!
I love that lens! If I didn't need stabilization I would have picked that up again!
That's is a great kit. I've own all except the 12-35mm. The 14 mm 2.5 is a great sharp pancake lens and i've bought and sold at least 4 of 25mm. f1.7. Now I am pretty much rocking with the 9mm f1.7 len paired with one of my gh5s'.
Oooo the 9mm, that's one lens I have yet to try !
@@NigelBarros Best wide angle lens for MFT I've ever own to date.
Dig the new spot! Still digging your content brother! Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it!
Love you new place
It’s time for me to up my production game up, I been doing a lot of research and the GH6 is been known to be one of the best video cameras. I am thinking about the MFT because of the affordability. The main issue is the autofocus that everyone always talks about, is it really that big of a deal? I only have experience with a canon m50 mark ii, I mostly use film cameras so manual focusing doesn’t bother me.
Curious.. Was there something specific about the Olympus system that caused you to switch back to Panasonic? Thank you for the video! Tons of value shared as always.
Honestly it was just things that may seem stupid to most but like the lack of a dummy battery solution, bad 1080p and odd LOG profile just ate at me over time and made me wish i just had GH3's again haha. Still love all the images I was able to get out of that camera but felt I needed to move on if i was going to get back into freelance work
@@NigelBarros thank you for explaining this. Cause i finally get to the point when im ready to investing on olympus omd em1 mark ii for content creation shooting. And you Nigel and your videos about this camera and video that you made with this camera have been main insperation for me, cos i really like what you been able to make out with this camera. Can you share a little bit more, whats wrong with 1080? And if its bad, does shooting in 4k and delivering in 1080 solve this problem? Thank you, love you content, and you aproach to make video looks good with affordable cameras!
Wow, your image looks beautiful with a Gh3. Do you have videos of your picture profile settings and color grading process?
I have some videos on my older setting I use but right now I use Natural with -5 contrast -3 sharpening 0 saturation and -5 noise reduction. I also shoot in 1080 50mb/s instead of All-I because it gives me better noise performance. For grading I use Filmconvert nitrate with the Gh3 profile (link with discount in description) and do secondary color correction in Lumetri color for my skin tones. Hope that helps!
@@NigelBarros 💎💎💎 Thank you so much for this information
I love your tip about using a wireless remote to trigger autofocus...Do you have an affiliate link to the one you use (I have a GX85, G85 and FZ1000 v1 right now)?
I too would love this
Welcome back to the PNW! It got HOT here while you were gone.
Q: Does the Panasonic in-lens OIS system talk to Olympus camera bodies?
Hi.
I have the same Oppilas remote. How do you know the camera is rolling? When I push the button the led is on for a moment but that is not enough sometimes. I mean I can't control the camera because I am not sure it start or stop.
What do you think of the olympus M1X on video?
It's a good decision for $800 I have sony zve10 but it is somewhat fragile
Is there any particular reason yo usold your olympus em1 mkii? I really liked the image coming from that camera in your videos.
Yeah I loved the image, but sine I've decided to take on more freelance work in the future I wanted to invest in something a little more on the higher end. really loved all the content i was able to make with that E-m1 MKII though!
Can you send me the link to the wireless shutter release system? Great video.
Just updated my description with a link!
Having the 20mm f1.7 makes the 25mm feel redundant. 🤐
But that 14mm is one I wanted for a while. 😃
Yeah I love the 20mm f1.7 too but the 25mm has a bit faster focusing and a little closer close focus I think
I was disappointed by the 14mm after using the Panasonic 15mm f1.7. It is not much bigger, but by far the better lens. Focusing feels much better, build quality and image quality are very good. This is also a great gimbal lens.
@@tombergemann7202 I have the 20 so my standards are already low. 🤣
I want the 14 just because of the wide angle view and lower price. 😁
I know you had Olympus 12-40mm f2.8. What happened to that lens? Does the lens is not suitable with lumix camera based on your experience? What do you think about using the lens on GH5 or GH6? I have GH5ii and have 12-60mm f2.8-4. I am considering to buy Olympus 12-40mm or Lumix 12-35mm. I like Olympus lens as it has extra 5mm focal length, but concern how its stabilisation would effect in video. Just need your opinion about this. I had tried 12-35mm, but really love the aesthethic look of the Olympus lens as well it manual clutch.
Yeah the only reason I went with the Lumix is the stabilizer, the Olympus is a really sharp and well built lens and has that cool manual focus cutch. If you don't need the dual stabilization the Lumix offers the Olympus is also a great option if you can get it for a good price. But honestly I think having a Lumix lens on a Lumix body makes a little more sense to me
@@NigelBarros thank you for your opinion on this. Really appreciate it.
Whaaaa! No abrupt end.... 🤔😂
semi abrupt haha
@@NigelBarros 😂🤣😂👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can i use Oppilas for GH6?
I would just switch over to the GH6 at this point
Might be getting something a little different from that soon
@@NigelBarrospanasonic G9 II 😉
I love Portland but I hate Portland. Maybe you get that. I will say living somewhere near there is my goal. Just not there.
The food is excellent. Never had a bad meal in Portland.
No I totally get it, Portland isn't what it was 10 years ago that's for sure, but I was born here and its home to me. I do love being close to my mountains again for sure
@@NigelBarros Dude…the waterfalls are spectacular.
First comment. Cool office by the way
Thank you!
The 12-35 mII and 25mm,1.7 are my favorite lenses and make me lot of money in past years
