    Lol, I think I’m doing something wrong. I entered act 2 - where I am right now - after about 90 hours. But I’ve been trying to really learn the dnd part, I’ve been looting and exploring EVERYTHING. I’m constantly afraid to get tired of it, but as of 100+ hours there is ZERO fatigue. Except for my physical body, lol. It’s just soo good. Feels like l’m back in the nineties playing BG1 for the first time. I love it!
    Great review man! Spot on! 👍

    Having a blast with it. I played the original games way back along with the Icewind Dale games and as time went by, I lost interest in the genre and got more into story based shooters and RTS games. It didn't take any time at all for me to connect with BG3. Incerdible game so far

    I bought this game in early access like 3 years ago.
    I got to play early access for a couple of days before my PC died, so I was stuck waiting agonzing years before it finally dropped on XBox, and I've been loving it!

    Bro when I found out the bad ending for Karlach I legitimately felt nauseated and dizzy. This, to me, says two things. Firstly, the game has such well-developed characters that seeing something that grotesque and horrid happening to them physically affected me. The game made me care about the characters that much, and that's genuinely impressive to me. The second thing is how diverse and impactful all your decisions can be and are. I'm not at all surprised at the 17,000 possible endings and that statistic alone should show everyone how unprecedented this game is.

    • @glassmuffin4236
      @glassmuffin4236  9 місяців тому +6

      Yeah this game is amazing. I would agree with you for the ending for Karlach. Funny enough, a day or 2 after I wrote this review, they released a patch to give her a better ending. Which is nice to see they are listening to community feedback, but I was a little bummed I didnt get to see that ending. But thats what second playthroughs are for I guess.

    I never found DND interesting ever, but I was tempted to play this since I never used my pc since I bought it kind of, and omg this game is just jaw dropping man. I’m enjoying it so much and I was kinda upset because I thought they didn’t have controller support for it but they did and now my gameplay feels 10 times better

    • @glassmuffin4236
      @glassmuffin4236  9 місяців тому +2

      I personally played with M+KB and I preferred that, but the controller support is amazing. Makes the game very playable and even helps if you have a steam deck or something similar. As for getting the hang of DnD, imo this game does a great job of blending DnD with video games in a way that makes it accessible to a lot of people. Super easy to get into.

      D&D, and TTRPG's in general are basically only as good as the group. And part of this is that running the game is many hats - world building, game design (focus on encounter design), but also narrative description and knowing how much detail to give - and when to pause to wait for a prompt as to what direction to go in.
      In many ways - Baldur's Gate 3 is absolutely a phenomenal representation of how to approach the game - and not just when running your single character, but also when running a game yourself.
      Overall, i have a feeling a LOT of peoples D&D games are going to get better in the next year or so as a result of BG3 being out.

    While it is huge, I love the fact that every quest and side quest feels so complete. There are so many side quest that I actually felt like their conclusion and story were so well thought out. In most games a side quest often feels disjointed and unconnected to the game. This game is different, completing a side quest I felt like it added to my characters story and the story of the world.

    BG3 is great but has a lot of flaws. Terrible AI and the companions interactions with a custom character are lazily written as regardless of our sex and race; they react the same. Custom character animations are also all the same, so how a tall, muscular human male walks and reacts is exactly how a tiny Halfing female walks and reacts. Many scenes between you and other characters honestly can get really awkward and the dialogue choices can trap you into 3 lines of flirting and 1 just walking away. Act 3 has many bugs still ... I think Larian did a good job but the game absolutely has some glaring weak spots.

  • @Argosh
    @Argosh 9 місяців тому

    Act 1 is sadly where 70% of the polish went. The remaining 30% have been spent on Act 2 and by the time the gamebreakers turn up you're hooked hard. Doesn't change the pain from encountering those bugs, and some of the story options are just plain intolerable.
    It's a great game, especially with mods, but definitely no 10/10... If BG3 is that, then gaming as a whole is done...

    • @What_do_I_Think
      @What_do_I_Think 9 місяців тому +1

      You just see it wrong. Act 1 is more polished, because it was played already by so many people. So they had time to fix the problems.
      BG3 has so many options, that one company alone can not find all the problems with simply testing. But Larian has a history of fixing all problems -- also in Act 3. Just take some time. They already reacted very rapidly to the most pressing things in record time (1-2 weeks). Other companies are not able to fix game breaking problems in months! See the difference?
      BG3 is definitively 11/10. It hit the ball out of the park.

    • @Argosh
      @Argosh 9 місяців тому

      @@What_do_I_Think why is it wrong to correctly give this game a 9/10? Just because literally every other studio seems hellbent on churning out -10/10 titles doesn't change the fact, that this game could've used more polish in the last two acts.

    • @What_do_I_Think
      @What_do_I_Think 9 місяців тому +1

      @@Argosh You just don't want to understand? I did not criticize a 9/10, but your reasoning. Such a complex game with a non-linear story is much more difficult to flesh out than many other AAA titles which do not have such complex story lines -- but most of the times a linear story-path. The testing is much more complex. You just accuse Larian of selectively leaving out Act 3, but this is not the case. It is just much more difficult to polish a piece of game, that was not player tested! It will be player tested and Larian -- like in its other games -- will bring out a perfect version of the game, free of charge for all previous buyers.

    • @What_do_I_Think

      @@What_do_I_Think ah, yes, the "pile of stinking garbage is the new normal" argument. Luckily that's nonsense because there is a historical context. I measure games against the quality we got previously. That makes most AAA games absolute garbage and not even worth looking at as games anymore. While it also makes BG3 a quite good game just skipping perfection courtesy of them aiming for a level of complexity that makes it too hard.
