Any suggestions for videos welcome. I am currently working on a few more tank videos: - How to create push fit attachments with sprues to avoid using magnets (save ££) - Tank weathering techniques. Cheers
Any suggestions on how to make transports like the chimeras feel lived in and also unique within regiments? I run a mechanized infantry style Cadian regiment and aside from tamiya brand stowage additions like tarps and bags I can’t find how to make the individual transports for my squads feel like a bunch of seasoned soldiers have been living in these for a while on extended campaign. Though maybe kitbashing might be the solution
@@TheGreatArtichoke must have missed this comment somehow. I'm doing a weathering video next and this has something along these lines. I've used a mud effect to show where the troops would be clambering over the tank to the hatches. There's a used shovel etc on the tank too.
Even in the 40k universe I would question the logic behind putting sponsons on tanks, they would be easy to penetrate, have pathetic fields of fire and would likely ground-out on hilly or difficult terrain. Automated guns exist in some capacity in RL, though the in-game logic suggests there's actually people manning these weapons... In short, do GW need a rethink on sponsons?
I love the 3rd design The engine exhaust being used as a smoker / grill idea is/was awesome IG at the BBQ between battles , and very realistic to what military guys do .
Love the diarama feel of that last one. Really brings life to what would otherwise be just a standard vehicle. I imagine you might have heard this elsewhere, but instead of using plastic rods to pin bits together, you can pin using lengths of paperclip. It requires superglue rather than plastic glue, but it's just as strong, if not stronger. And you don't need to mangle a perfectly good voxcaster backpack.
Thankyou, I try to give my models a bit of a diarama feel whilst keeping them usable in games. Yes I have used that before on metal models. I find the plastic rods give a strong bond but like you say it probably dosent make much difference. I could actually do with a few vox for my squads since the rules have changed too
Good idea, You could use the cult models and it would look more fitting to the army. At the moment I think there's just a few logos in the kit that distinguish it from the regular russ
Maybe having some Guardsmen just standing really close to the tank, holding a heavy weapon of your choice? Two or three on each side, like they are supporting the tank, could that work? I did something like that years ago for my Orkz.
Yeah, that could work for a heavy weapons team too.An advancing stance HWT. Thanks for the thought, will have to give something like this a go on the next tank ( hopefully the new Rogal dorn tank)
I don't play yet... But I'm very into the lore. Also for me 40k vehicles was my reintroduction into making models. Tanks and other armor at relatively easy to build. I like to paint and weather.
@@marksoares1610 I've only just got back into playing again and only had 2 games of 9th. They are such good kits. I have a weathering video coming up which aims to use stuff that you would likely already have in the hobby draw.
An idea for an Ork version: add the platform at the back with guns, the guns on the turret hatch, the sponsons and replace the front bolt gun with another main weapon.
Please, allow me be your excuse to expand your army. There should be a new Guard tank coming out soonish too along with some Kasrkin and some sort of ruff riders.
Imagine actually buying from GW. Don't support a company that is literally just trying to milk you for every penny and gives zero shits about its community.
@@theluckyscav3487 I get where your frustrations come from, I really do. But, I like the models a lot and enjoy kitbashing them, painting them and occasionally using them to play. Secondly, the high perceived cost is relative. I am fortunate enough not to consider the cost of this hobby too high when contrasted between my enjoyment of it and my resources. This of course is relative to all people and so may matter more to some who have more difficulty. In addition, if we sought to never purchase from any evil corporation out to exploit the customer base for their own needs, we would have the worst time acquiring anything. No shopping at walmart, no new phones, no phone plans, no computers or computer components, we definitely wouldnt ever see a marvel film or watch a new disney cartoon with our kids. @@TheGreatArtichoke I never said anything about the price. Just that you shouldn't support GW. I'm not talking about just not liking companies, I'm talking about GWs consistent disregard for their fans solely so they can make the most amount of money possible. I don't mind paying a high premium for something I like, but I do mind having that company try to take me for all I'm worth. You have to draw the line somewhere. If you live your life thinking "Well everyone sucks anyway, so why should I care if THIS person sucks?" You'll literally never stand for anything. Do you know what would happen if I bought computer parts from a company and they started doing a bunch of horrible shit I didn't like? I'd find a new place to buy computer parts. What about if a film company started demeaning the people that liked their movies and threatened to sue anyone who made free fan content about their IP? You guessed it, I'd stop paying for their movies. You are confusing me saying not to support GW with saying you shouldn't paint and build miniatures. Instead of buying a Leman Russ from GW, 3d print it. Instead of buying a Guardsman squad, kitbash your own custom squad from Anvil Miniatures. Instead of buying Citadel paints, choose one of the 5 billion other miniature paints out there. 3d printing is really not that hard with the right settings and you can find pretty much anything you want when it comes to Warhammer content. If enough people actually gave a damn about where they spent their money, maybe, JUST MAYBE, companies like GW would start losing money and they'd actually change.
