- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is a fun destination for all ages. And when you are at the beach in Myrtle Beach, you can even go looking for shark teeth. That's exactly how we spent the morning, as the afternoon we reserved for another favorite in town: mini golf. It was my first time golfing (or at least trying, hehe) and I loved it! Golf is huge in Myrtle Beach. There are 86 golf courses and 34 miniature golf courses here. We closed the day with a drive to North Myrtle Beach and a dinner at Barefoot Landing. We just spent 4 months in Myrtle Beach and got pretty familiar with the city. In this area, you can find some of the main South Carolina beaches.
The best time to visit Myrtle Beach though is still to come: summer. That's when you'll really be able to enjoy the beach. But visiting in the off-season has its advantages. The city was quiet, we had the resort pools to ourselves especially in January and February, and temperatures even reached the high 60s and low 70s on the warmest days. Perfect to go for a walk at the beach. In early spring, when we shot this video, you may still have some cool mornings, but the temperatures tend to rise along the day.

There are plenty of choices in Myrtle Beach when it comes to selecting accommodations for your stay. Regarding the beach rules in South Carolina: lots of people have alcohol on the beach they just do it discreetly and typically in a cup. You can wear a string bikinis on public beaches in South Carolina, but not a thong or G string. My wife when she was younger wore very small string bikinis and the bottoms with the Rio cut/style which is pretty small, but not a thong or G string. They also don’t like smoking on the beach because most people are stupid and throw the cigarette butts down and the animals like birds and sea turtles will eat them.
It gets warmer from Myrtle Beach to Charleston because before you get to Charleston it’s a different climate zone. That’s why you don’t see the big oak trees and moss in Myrtle Beach like you do as you get closer to Charleston.
We thought the rules are really "don't get out of hand" and that how can you forbid beer on a hot sunny beach day..haha.
Interesting a different climate zone yet so close to each other.
@@RenataPereiraTV The oak trees get noticeably bigger as you drive south from Myrtle Beach. When you get on the south side of Charleston especially within a few miles of the ocean there is a noticeable change in vegetation. There is a pretty big variation in migratory birds and waterfowl also.
From Charleston down to Savannah it’s called the lowcountry. Due to wind and ocean currents depending on a few miles up or down the coast or a few miles inland you can get changes in the weather. It doesn’t seem to be much difference during the summer, but it’s noticeable during the coldest months of the winter. But it doesn’t exactly get cold in Charleston unless the entire country is having a winter storm.
This just happens to be a transition area for multiple climate zones. That’s why there were more plantations as you go south. And depending on where they were located it dictated the type of crops that were grown. Rice was only grown on the coast in the Charleston and Beaufort area. Whereas in North Carolina and throughout the south once you got inland away from the coast people grew tobacco and cotton.
