- Hawaii's Big Island is unlike any other Hawaiian island. Imagine seeing volcanic lava everywhere (thankfully, today mostly solid lava from past eruptions). Still, very impressive. At the Big Island, you'll find one of the most active volcanoes in Hawaii and the world, the Kilauea, but that's only one of the 5 volcanos there. This scenario is even at the beaches in the Big Island, as you see volcanic rocks mixed with sand. And we went to one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii: Magic Sands beach. We were lucky we could get in, as there was sand! 😉 After starting the day trying the famous Kona Coffee, we also drove up the Kohala Coast to see the resort area, which is pretty amazing, and finished back downtown Kailua-Kona for a lovely sunset. The Big Island has to be our favourite of the Hawaiian Islands. We have the best memories from our honeymoon there. Seeing lava flowing into the ocean, black sand beach, swimming with turtles, dolphins and whales. Amazing! Would love to go back one day.

Kona is awesome...some of the bluest ocean water you'll see is in kona. Great coffee, beautiful sights and gorgeous days. Hotels are awesome too. The breweries are great too and the scenery is spectacular. Go out and enjoy kona people.

Kona is also famous for its deep-sea fishing, hosting the International Billfish Tournament (August) every year. And on land, don't forget to travel to the cooler upland slopes of town like Holualoa, where you can sample the distinctive flavors of 100% Kona coffee, which is what Kona is famous for!

Magic Sands is also known as Tragic Slams so be careful in the water there. If the locals suggest staying on the beach when there's a swell consider doing so. Get out and explore beyond the usual tourist attractions. Try and buy local to help the smaller family businesses. Too many closed for good in 2020.

Well, there is a lot to do and so much to explore and Hawaii is various islands, please see our other Hawaii videos. I would spend minimum a week to 10 days and plan to see 2 islands. That gives one enough time to hike, explore, see multiple beaches and some kayaking. The Hawaiian islands provide endless fun and they are so remote being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Note, you fly between the Hawaiian Islands.
