    Anytime I see Jay doing 2jz things I count it as knowledge so I click take notes and save the video for future reference. Honestly I wish I had the experience for building a long running big hp 2jz motor. Also Jay how do you feel about the DART 2jz blocks that's soon to be if not already for the customer? Thanks 🙏💯🏁🏁🏁🏁🤙🤙

    I'm.a little surprised to see H beam rods in it. I know everyone like to use them, but technically an I beam rods is stronger, isn't it? Between my machinist and I, we have discussed this many times- I'm a mechanic and engine builder in Australia and do a lot of RB stuff for drag racing. I use I beam rods (steel) in most of my builds. I should point out that most of these engines are street/strip engines, hence the steel rods

      I don't know hopefully he'll explain it a little sometime I'm sure there's a reason he does what he does, he's pretty much one of the 2JZ wizards in the US and has had tremendous success with the platform I know and a lot of cases it's just what the customer wants but when it's your own stuff is definitely a method to his madness

    • @Alexbuilt
      @Alexbuilt Рік тому

      There are h beams that are stronger then I beams. Not all I beams are stronger just because they are I beams. Lots of good h beams on the market

    • @rcravincase
      @rcravincase Рік тому

      H beam has less deflection, especially near the ends for the crank and piston pin. Usually lighter too

    • @benistingray6097
      @benistingray6097 Рік тому

      Im no rod specialist or anything but from e mechanical point of view, if you compare an H to an I beam with the same diameter then the I beam is off course stronger than the H beam because there is more material on the same area, but its also way heavier.
      If the diameter doesnt matter; i.e. youre not space limited inside the block and can use beams with a bigger diameter, you rather take an H beam that has the same strenght as the I beam but is lighter.

      There is an adage I love. "X may be technically better. But real life has a way of not giving a dam".
      I've been in drifting for nearly 15 years. RB engines were a meme before the internet had memes.
      Yet my 400hp rb20 has been beat on by me for 5 years and was a drift car engine for at least 4 years before that.
      I've changed the oil. I've changed the spark plugs (once).
      It just works. One day it may have an oil pump or ring land issue. But it has standard pistons. Standard rods. Standard head gasket and as far as I know the last time the sump or head was off the engine was the day it was built by nissan.
      One engine doesn't make for proof of anything. But it proves that real life cares what *should* be true.

    How/why do you choose the piston pin retainers that you do? I usually prefer spiral lock rings, but notice you seem to always use spring clips...

    How hard do you think it would be to weld two 2jz together and make a straight 12... I know rotaries are pretty straightforward but could you do the same but with a straight 6 and just custom crank ect

      The problem is that no one makes a camshaft/ head/ headers that long. Also why would you do that when toyota has a v12 engine from the century. Also is there even a car that could fit a straight 12 in the engine bay?

    • @fractal4284
      @fractal4284 Рік тому

      @@liamc8085 I seen some guy who did a V12 configuration with two 2jz's a straight 12 would obviously have to be completely custom tubular chassis maybe something that resembles a 1929 Packard.
