Whenever I need a refresher for the Invisible Ribbed Bind-Off, I always come back to your video! It's the most instructive and SLOW video! I like the fact that it's slow. We're hear to learn, not to see someone's skill at knitting fast! Thanks for your video!
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Augustus Gregory I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I just heard and saw YOU in the first few seconds of YOUR KNIT FORMULA tv interview .........WOW! YOU have inspired me in the last few years with your nurturing safe grounded energy......your incredible passion to teach through knitting about LIFE!!!!!!!!! you take my breath away :)
That is the neatest, prettiest bind off ever! The top edge is smooth and not flared out, also very stretchy. Your video (as always) explains this so very well!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. Now just need one for a 2X 2 rib so it looks as pretty.
Thank you!! Yours is the first video I have seen that is clear about what is meant by "knit from behind". I have been struggling to bind off the neckline of my sweater and now I can. Thanks again so much!
Clear instructions for a rib bind off. You saved my sweater project!! I had to ripout some length on my cardigan and pick up the ribbing down, and I needed a really nice stretchy bind off.. this is it.. Thanks for your videos.. I'm a fan.
Excellent tutorial with careful demonstration of each step, warning of potential mistakes, and enough repeats to give viewer a chance to practice. Thank you!
You saved me!I finally cast off my final sleeve of a vest which I have started like more than 4years ago, didn't know what that kind of cast off is called, and I have forgotten how to cast off the same method I have used many years back. Now I know, it's invisible cast off. Thanks a million, I finally finished the vest, now my hubby can use it for our coming Paris trip
Somewhere else on YT this technique is called "tubular bindoff" because it looks like tubular cast on. You can't tell which is which unless you made it yourself. It looks very neat. Good tutorial.
This tutorial was invaluable in learning to do this across a sweater ribbed in 1x1. The only thing I would add is that it needs to start with a purl otherwise the steps don't work on flat knitting.
I agree. I pulled a knot on my first knit stitch so I could start with a purl. I also thought about working the first 2 stitches together, but not until half way through did it occur to me. What did you end up doing?
I just want to say that this bind off is my new favorite. I used it to finish the neck on two sweaters yesterday and it looks so neat and professional. It's got just the right stretch for my projects. It's also very easy to remember, or get into the rhythm as you describe it, easy to fix any mistakes and I bet if I had to undo it, it shouldn't be hard either. Great work. I'll link my project to you on ravelry except I don't know how to do that!
Extremely useful. You have no idea. My mom is diabetic (and the recipient of said socks) and I'm always worried about being the reason her feet are amputated (OK, so I'm overreacting). Seriously, you are such an excellent teacher. Thank you so much. I just watched about eight videos in a row.
I cannot thank you enough for this most excellent video! I used this information to bind off my 1 X 1 ribbing for a sweater knit top down. Hurray, no break between beginning and ending of the bind off!
Haha ... I was one of the last to comment and I am now binding off another pair of socks. I just wish I could memorize how to do this so I don't have to watch the video every time. I love this bind off. Thanks for sharing it !!!
This is SO great. I started a yoke sweater with your invisible cast-on and want to bind off in the same fashion. I have a book that has a tubular bind-off in it but this is SO much easier to follow! Thank you!
I have a jumper that I needed to use this technique for and have struggled to find a video this is amazing I will now get my jumper from the top of the wardrobe ( where I threw it) and finish it.
Thanks soooooo much for your videos! They've really helped me understand the confusing parts of my knitting. Don't know where I would be if it weren't for UA-cam. Self-taught knitter. I just finished my first sock, thanks to your video.
Thanks so very much for this video -- it is very clear and easy to follow. This bind-off made all the difference in the finished look of the leg warmers I made.
That's great. Your explanations are very clear. For a long time I was looking for this binding off method! A Video is better than book to understand. My english is bad because I'm French ! Thanks a lot.
Thank you do much for this. I am making a cardigan and the normal bind off looked so ugly so I searched and tried and searched and tried only ending up in a mess until I came across your videos for invisible bind off and at last I got it and am nearly finished casing off close on 450 stitches.
Oh my gosh congratulations! Good on your for continuing to search. Bind-offs can make a big difference in the finished look of your projects. I have an entire video course: knitfreedom.com/shop/bind-offs. Cheers!
Thank you so much for your video! I was looking everywhere for a nice bind off for a baby hat and after 4 bad trials, I found your video and the result is amazing! Finaly a bind off that is stretchy bud not too much :D
@cathyh1223 Hi Cathy! The invisible ribbed bind-off for 2x2 rib is a little different, and I don't have a video of it yet. It's on my list! There is a great illustrated tutorial in the Fall 2008 Interweave Knits if you happen to have back-issues of that magazine. There are other stretchy bind-offs that you can do, but none of them are invisible like this one. I'm sorry I don't have a video for you!
Thanks for the tip Merrilee! Will definitely try next time we're doing the ribbed bind-off. If you ever need more helpful tips, give us a visit at www.KnitFreedom.com :)
I used this video to bind off the neckline of my sweater last night. It was SO CLEAR and easy to follow. Thanks for this great resource :-) Do you know how to do a 2x2 tubular bind off??
I louve your tutorial and the very clear repetitions you demonstrate! Thank you!! I want to BO my sweater which is in a 3 x 1 rib. I'm wondering if your directions can translate..
Sure! When you come to the end of the round, do a p2tog with the last p1 and the first k stitch. Then you will be able to start with a k1, p1 and you'll have an even number of stitches.
I just finished my socks last night and didn't watch this before I bound off because I am out of town :( Boooooo !!! I did a regular bind because that's all I know ... Now I have to tink which I don't mind ... because ... because for me ... tinking is part of knitting !!!
I just finished the Toe Up Two at a time, fingerling wt socks. I'm not wild about the looks of the Feggle heel. It worked up fine but it just looks weird.
So, conceptually this is the kitchener stitch, but instead of grafting two pieces together, we're grafting the column of knits to the column of purls. Is that right?
I just finished my first pair of two-at-a-time toe up socks, except to bind off. I just found your video and I want to do this for my socks....but my sock ribbing is 2X2 ribs (knit 2, purl 2). Do I bind off the same way?
When you are going through steps 1-4 you say that you go PW into st #2 but the instructions say #3. So does 2 & 3 need to be switched? Thanks. This is for the invisible BO.
This certainly looks better than any of the so-called stretchy bind offs. I think they look ugly. That being said, next to learn is your 2 x 2 ribbed bind off!
Excellent, steps broken down into bite sized, repeated slowly enough to pick it up, but not too slow. Thank you!

@Augustus Gregory it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
@Adriel Bode Happy to help :)

you take my breath away :)
Thank you! That was by far the BEST explanaition on youtube. I love your voice too, you sound like a caring older sister. Thank you!
Yay! Thank you so much. I DO care. Hugs to you!!
The best bind off tutorial I have found of this kind.
That is the neatest, prettiest bind off ever! The top edge is smooth and not flared out, also very stretchy. Your video (as always) explains this so very well!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. Now just need one for a 2X 2 rib so it looks as pretty.

I really love the looks of the invisible bind off. It is a bit involved, but leaves you with an awesome looking finish to the 1x1 ribbing.
You saved me!I finally cast off my final sleeve of a vest which I have started like more than 4years ago, didn't know what that kind of cast off is called, and I have forgotten how to cast off the same method I have used many years back. Have watched many videos on this technique. This video is the best and really explains what you need to know to get started.

You are my go-to tutorial lexicon 🙏
Thank you from Malmo Sweden 🇸🇪 👋

This is a great bind off! Fantastic tutorial. Very easy to follow. Thanks!
The Kitchener stitch? Thank you Liat. You are wonderful!
Thank you so much for your video! I was looking everywhere for a nice bind off for a baby hat and after 4 bad trials, I found your video and the result is amazing! Finaly a bind off that is stretchy bud not too much :D
Thank you, thank you Liat! This is such a good-looking and functional bind-off.
Awww, thank you!
I hope you get an opportunity to try the socks. Let us know how they turn out. :)
Thank you:) Really clear and well explained ~ and super stretchy which is what I needed for a babies poncho neckline.
I loved the picot edging n invisible bind off..
Thank you..
Its a great edge
From now on all my k1p1 will be bindoff like this. This is a lot of fun. Thank you very much Liat.
Thank you! best bind off I ever used. It's like magic :)
as cool a bind off as the super stretchy cast on I learned on YT - great stuff! and no more curling!
I'm so glad your baby hat turned out so wonderfully. :)
This is wonderful!! Can't wait to make some socks so I can use this!!
You are so welcome. I'm glad to hear you're a fan. :)
Beautiful end result incredable Stretchy Bind off for my knit swirl sweater.
You are an amazing knittng teacher! Thank you for all your videos

Cool trick, place locking stitch marker on the first k stitch and first purl stitch to make it easy to find the stitches when you come back around
Thanks for this great resource :-)
Do you know how to do a 2x2 tubular bind off??
what a great method!! thank you for teaching us this beautiful bind-off :)
Thank you so much for this video the instructions were so clear! 😊
Absolutely! Try it! I use it to bind off cable projects a lot.
KnitFreedom
Great.
Where do I find the blocking of these socks? 🙌
@evey274 You're welcome! This is an awesome bind-off and I'm so glad you learned how to do it for your socks. Thanks for watching!
I louve your tutorial and the very clear repetitions you demonstrate! Thank you!! I want to BO my sweater which is in a 3 x 1 rib. I'm wondering if your directions can translate..
Dear AMAzinG WOMAN! WOW! YOU Make my HEART SOAR! I"M gonna write you MORE
Great video. Very clear and informative. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this video; use the technique for a professional finish on my sweaters.
That's so awesome! I'm so glad that I could help.
great instructions!!! it would be nice if the video was a little less blurry though!! thanks so much for the detailed instructions
Amazing teacher!!! Thank you so much !
Thank you!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
THANKS! This is very interesting. Can't wait to try it!
So helpful! It's almost identical to kitchener. :-)
Thanks you for taking time
Sure! When you come to the end of the round, do a p2tog with the last p1 and the first k stitch. Then you will be able to start with a k1, p1 and you'll have an even number of stitches.
Thanks. Glad you like it!
I absolutely love your videos! They are simple and straightforward. Thank you! Will this invisible bind-off work for a 2x2 ribbing the same way?
Thank you for showing us this and for bing so real about it!
@FuzukiTuT You are so welcome! Happy Knitting. :)
I just finished my socks last night and didn't watch this before I bound off because I am out of town :( Boooooo !!! I did a regular bind because that's all I know ... Now I have to tink which I don't mind ... because ... because for me ... tinking is part of knitting !!!
It would be nice if you would give us a really good view of the finished edge!
Reminds me of a Kitchener stitch.
How can I get the brochure. I learn better that way and really like this bind off.
Hi, really enjoyed watching this video! Wondering if this can somehow be used in a 2/1 ribbing. Thanks!
I just finished the Toe Up Two at a time, fingerling wt socks. I'm not wild about the looks of the Feggle heel. It worked up fine but it just looks weird.
Thanks, finally got it!!
If I am correct, this is Kitchener done off one needle.
Thank you
Do you have a pattern for these sock? I love the stitch pattern.
Definitely does NOT take 6 times length to do this bind off, that is much too much. I do 3 times the circum and it is plenty.
That is awesome - way to go!
How cool! Does this work for 2x2 ribbing as well?
@Sewmakeone Thank you! 2x2 is on my list of videos to make! :)
Did you use one or two circular needles while making two socks at once.
Did you do the slip the purls and knit the knits 2 set up rows before you bind off.
Very good. I just wish I had the written instructions.
So, conceptually this is the kitchener stitch, but instead of grafting two pieces together, we're grafting the column of knits to the column of purls. Is that right?
Thanks - great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Visit us at www.KnitFreedom.com for more helpful knitting videos
I just finished my first pair of two-at-a-time toe up socks, except to bind off. I just found your video and I want to do this for my socks....but my sock ribbing is 2X2 ribs (knit 2, purl 2). Do I bind off the same way?
How works the tubular bind off if the first stitch is a purl stitch?
Give it a try! If it works for you, then yes. :)
Would this be the best cast off the a super bulky roll collar on a zippered vest? I want it stretchy so it lays around the collar....
I think it would be a lovely option for a rolled collar! Try it out and see if you like the effect :)
When you are going through steps 1-4 you say that you go PW into st #2 but the instructions say #3. So does 2 & 3 need to be switched? Thanks. This is for the invisible BO.
very useful, thank you :)
This certainly looks better than any of the so-called stretchy bind offs. I think they look ugly. That being said, next to learn is your 2 x 2 ribbed bind off!
Glad this video was helpful! If you're looking for more bind-off videos, including a whole course on them, visit us at www.KnitFreedom.com
Where do I get the "handout" that you're talking about?
Merci beaucoup 😍😍😍😍😍
