This tutorial will teach you how to work the Icelandic Bind off. Icelandic Bind Off is my go-to bind-off for garter stitch. I also compare it to two other bind-offs, a traditional bind-off, and a one-move bind-off.

Great! I love ist because you are coming right to the point, no unnecessary chatting and clear Instruction.❤
Thank you so much! I have other videos were I yammer on, but these videos are for getting to the point!
Love learning the Icelandic bindoff. I had to use a crochet needle because my stitching was tight...works great 👍 thank you!
Thank you for comparing the different bindoffs. I,too, had confused the one move bindoff with the Icelandic. I like the look of Icelandic bindoff much better.
Glad it was helpful!
I've been knitting for many years, and only ever used the traditional bind off, but this looks great - probably less fiddly than traditional and more elastic. Brilliant. Social media is just brilliant for this kind of thing!
I absolutely love the Icelandic bind off! The finish is so pretty. Thanks very much!!!
I like this bind off, Laura!
Thanks!
I just saved this video. I finished a sweater a few weeks ago and used the Icelandic bind-off, I thought. I used your third bind-off thinking it was the Icelandic. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
I just used this bind off on a bandana that had garter stitch border. It turned out great! Thanks for the tutorial!!
You are so welcome!
This is new to me. I can't wait to try it. Thank you for posting!
You are welcome! Enjoy!!
That is a beautiful bind off, and so simply done... thank you for teaching us this one. 😃
It really does have a gorgeous flow... doesn't it? Happy Knitting!
Great video, short and clear. I will definitely use this bind-off. Thank you
Just bound off a shawl using this bo..it is so neat & pretty & easy!
Thanks, Laura. This was perfect!

You are so welcome!
Will add this one to my arsenal for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Sure thing! Thank you!!
Fabulous info & easy to understand 😀 thank you ,I'm an instant fan.
It's fantastic 🎉 I like to start with german twisted cast on and this is exactly what I needed for 😁 Thank you 😚
You're welcome 😊
Thanks!!
Hello and thanks for this new to me technique! Does it work for other type of stitches also? I’m working on linen stitch right now and would really appreciate your input
Thank you I always wanted to learn that bindoff!
You are so welcome!!!
Great bind-off option. Thanks so much for the comparisons, too. I will certainly use this on garter stitch. Such a nicely finished edge it creates. Brand new to me.
Hi, Laura. I’m a very-beginning knitter. I’m coming from crochet and knitting is a challenge for me. I’ll be looking through your very helpful tutorials for basic instruction. 🌻 Carola on Morro Bay 🐳
Try the continental knitting style. Is has a lot in common with crochet.
Love this so much! Thanks Laura!!!
Glad you liked it!!
The Icelandic bind off is new to me. I love the finished edge! What bind off do you recommend for stockinette stitch?
I love this bind off. Very well demonstrated. Does this work to bind off 1x1 rib?
Thank you!! I’m now subscribed:)
Welcome!
thank you for sharing this. You make it look easy. My question is, is it only for garter stitch?
No, not necessarily, you can certainly use it on other fabric structures, it just matches garter stitch really well!
@@LauraNelkin thank you
Thank you sooo much, it's a great stitch!!! Please, tell me what you have for needle when you knitting a sweater.? They are so beautiful please tell me. Many greetings to you from Northern Germany from @strickrada 👋😊
Ok, so is there a matching cast-on so both ends can be even tention. The double row of stitches layering on each other would drive my ADD bonkers.
Excelent to see differences between. I've seen another type of bind off , it is knit 2 together and then put st again on left needle and knit 2 together, I don't know how it's called.
Ah, that is a lace bind off, one of my favorite bind offs for lace edges!
This is my go to bind off! I also go right to the bindoff, no first stitch. Also the last stitch I bind off is actually the first bindoff stitch I did. Otherwise it leaves a little gap that I don’t like. Then just pull the tail down thru before burying the tail. Btw, that yarn is delicious! Any deets on that?
Thanks! Great tips!!! It is Emma's Yarn DK, I think a Ooak color!
Could you please elaborate on how you handle the last stitch? (Do you mean that you just bind that one off regularly and then pull the tail through?)
Thank you so much ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
Great tutorial, but what happens with the last stitch? This is my first attempt at knitting after 50 years of crochet. A nasty start to it, but several days later I only have a few mistakes or dropped stitches. I got to the last stitch of the Icelandic bind-off, but don't know what to do with the last stitch. Do I pull it all the way through like with crochet, or is there something else that I need to do to it?
Yes, just pull it all the way through!
Merci beaucoup !
You are so welcome!!!
Help. I can’t find a stretchy stockinette bind off that doesn’t roll
See my above comment! That will help!
