    In my opinion, this video is the best of its kind and for this technique that you can find here.
    Super well explained and also filmed in such a way that you can see and understand every step very well. Thank you! 🤩🤩

    That is a GREAT finishing method for fingerless mitts which use K1, P1 ribbing at the top of the hand. I also use the Italian cast on which then looks the same at the wrist.
    HOWEVER...traditional cast on and bind off does give a piece that “hand knitted look” which is unmistakable. When you’ve knitted 100+ pairs of fingerless mitts, the cast on and bind off methods vary with the mood du jour!

It did take maybe an hour to do the whole thing (Maybe it's partially due to that it was my first time I was doing it and I didn't know how long of a tail I needed to do it), but it was so worth it. Also I was doing it for 2 socks at a time.), but it was so worth it. The instruction were crystal clear.

    Since this is not requiring use of the back needle and if you are doing Magic Loop or using two circulars or even Flexi-Flips, any of these, the back needle can hang down and is then far less likely to get caught when you are sewing on the front needle. Otherwise, the tutorial is really great and the technique is one to want to use, most definitely.

      In case someone is in the same boat, as was I, what I did was to treat the first purl and knit stitches as one and it seems to have worked fine. I'm a beginner knitter, finishing off my first ever sweater, so take my advice with a pinch of salt and mind that my wool is very fluffy, so I was betting on that helping me hide my experiment. • @TheSweaterCollective
      @TheSweaterCollective  2 роки тому

      Hi Lauren! Are you knitting in the round? If so, a really easy fix is to undo the final stitch of your final round, then slip it to the start of your bind off round. You won't notice that it's 1 round shorter than the other stitches, and it should mean that when you start binding off, you'll have a "knit, purl, knit, purl" pattern by default. Let me know if that doesn't do the trick!

      Hi Celine! I'm sorry but I haven't tried modifying this technique for k2 x p1 ribbing myself. You might be able to try changing up the order of knitwise and purlwise directions with the tapestry needle to make it work, but I think it'll need a bit of experimentation.

      Possibly not unfortunately, the patterning really aligns best with a k1, p1 sequence. There might be a way to repeat the knit stitch action twice, then work the purl action once, and continue to repeat across the rest of the bind off, but I'm not quite sure how that would work out as I haven't tried it myself. Jeny's surprisingly stretchy bind off is a nice flexible alternative though!

      It is worth emphasizing, since it is basically impossible to undo the stitches, that, you should start the pattern on a knit stitch. I missed this (foolish I know) and did a good 20 stitches wrong before noticing. Also that you will need way more bind-off yarn length then you ever thought possible. Also, tension needed to be firmly tugged along the way. Other than these initial hiccups it worked beautifully for this beginner knitter, thanks for the lovely video!
