@@JM-gh1oz ISTJ is a phlegmatic type not melancholic. (Stereotypically) they are all about organization and quiet. I think you're mistaking melancholic temperament with phlegmatic.
... we are.... we do? huh. well, i guess i have to say that while it's nice to have somebody say something nice about oneself, one also has to know the truth behind it. in simpler words, don't butter my biscuit and think i won't know it's shit... i am well aware of the smell, thanks.
INTP here. And yes, I obsess over that very much and try to correct it. Then people get pissed at me for taking that seriously something they see as so inconsequential. :-)
INFPs, once you actually talk to one enough, are super easy to type. As an ENFJ I would like to ask, why do you guys just have to be so adorable? I don't even know what it is, every INFP I've met is just so wholesome and sweet. You people just have this super loving, accepting kind of vibe and I want to hug almost every INFP I see. With my INFP friends, I feel like I can just curl up in a content little ball and fall asleep, knowing that nothing will happen to me. INFPs are a very relaxing personality type to be around. You. People. Are. So. Cute. And. I. Don't. Know. Why. :D
As an INFP, I appreciate this so much :) My friends have definitely called me cute in this way haha! I wish I was more thick skinned sometimes, but kind words like this make me more proud to be INFP.
Thank you. It's funny because before someone gets to know us, we can seem like the most aloof or arrogant type in the room, but then the mask falls off and we're basically just like the human version of a cinnamon roll.
True, infp can get along anyone just like intp by making good strategy and psycho analyzing them And infp can read between lines, People can't really convince us I mean they cannot even manipulate us 😈
It’s easy to type anyone you actually “talk” to enough, but you have to know about typology first. However, as a T, I am not shy from debating you on what I am, though I will not try to convince you that I am an F, I just couldn’t be that chaotic if I tried. I don’t deny the probability that I am an ENTP, I just have to qualify that if I should be, I am very lawful for the type and I am not competitive in the way that a typical NT would be.
[face splits into a dark evil grin] oh dear, oh dear oh dearie me... fresh meat. you're very lucky i'm old and not as open to mischief as i once was. little lost lambs like yourself are always so tempting.
EJs: Lead with Dominant Extroverted Judging (Fe or Te) -> “Leading” IPs: Lead with Dominant Introverted Judging (Fi or Ti) -> “Individualists” IJs: Lead with Dominant Introverted Perceiving (Ni or Si) -> “Observers” EPs: Lead with Dominant Extroverted Perceiving (Se or Ne) -> “Engaging”
@@Jazoniq Actually, he's right: The F and T (Fe, Fi, Te and Ti) are Judging Functions. While N and S (Ne, Ni, Se and Si) are Perceiving Funtions. So, even though i know it seems counterintuitive, IP's have Judging as Dominant and IJ'd have Perceiving as Dominant
As an INTP, I can relate being an individualist. I like working alone as no one would tell me what to do. I’ve been always talking things like “what if this” and “what if that” and the habit remains unchanged till now. Usually, I just want to do things my own way, without caring if other people wouldn’t follow my lead.
I'm an ENFJ and you guys make our lives very difficult lmao. I try to delegate tasks and the INTP of the group is like "hm, what if I just do all of it?" *No. That's my line.* 😂
As an INFP I relate to this very much. I like to do things my own way. I'm not saying that my way is necessarily different that the "normal" way, but I still follow that inner voice rather than the crowd. For example I don't care that much about rules. I never follow rules because they are rules. I follow them because I think they are the right thing to do.
As an INFP I would care if they followed my lead not because I think I am wrong but my choices may not be good for them - I actively discourage any following unless its no brainer good choices
The IxxP is so accurate. Growing up my family always tried to control my life and were pretty strict, they have their own ways and I have mine. I was very rebellious and did many things they didn’t like lol I love them but ya know doing whatever makes you happy is more important. I’ve always felt like a loner too but I don’t mind it, I actually kind of like it. -intp
I don’t go in big groups to begin with. I just sit some place and listen to music while playing super overly complicated scenarios that will never, ever happen in my head. -intp
@@altitudeiseverything3163 Not really, I usually have the same blank face when I'm mad. You wouldn't know until and stop thinking and say the first thing that comes to my mind
I think I…J’s also sometimes get leadership roles like EJ’s. Not necessarily because we want to (especially those that are really introverted like me) but because no one else steps up, we want to get the goal done, and occasionally because we think we’d be better at it. That said if someone steps up volunteering to lead and we see them as competent or at least willing to listen to others we will happily let them lead… and be the puppet master from the shadows… muhaha… ermm I mean give wise advice to the leader and help write their speeches… yeah…
As an IJ I totally agree 😅 I often prefer to even lead at some point because I know then the things will be done well because it's gonna be according to my plan 😂
As an INFP i am so independent that if people try to help me I will get annoyed because I feel like I should be able to it by myself. And if I can't then I will get upset since that is something I should be able to do.
Reminds me of my childhood when I wouldn't do something just because someone told me to, even if I had been planning on doing it before. I'm an INFP, too
As an ISFP, I can relate. Whenever someone offers help instead of "let me help you", I hear "wow you're so pathetic and unable to do anything yourself, guess I have to go out of my way to lend you a hand, because watching you hurts". And even if I do struggle with something, I'd exhaust myself, but pull through on my own. Because I can.
As an ISFJ who runs the house while homeschooling three kids, constantly trying to keep order and schedules while married to an ENFP husband... yeah... I can say this resonated with me.
@@lamendieta7209 We keep each other balanced. I keep him grounded and help him get the boring everyday stuff done and he helps me leave my comfort zone once in a while and not get stuck in a rut. It’s all about communication and setting boundaries. When we were first married, I had to teach him to call me before he brought friends over, but I also had to learn to let him have gatherings and that it was okay for me to spend that time in the bedroom if I didn’t feel up to socializing. Fortunately, we’ve brought each other more toward the middle ground; I’m more okay now with occasional parties, and he’s okay with staying in for quiet evenings more often.
@@sofiebonaparte7831 I would honestly. It sounds stereotypical af but as an INTJ I always truly admired how charming and caring people like you are despite the fact that half of the time you don't even know what planet you're living on.
Just thinking aloud: In my mind, all personalities ask the question of themselves and of the world, "What is your purpose?" Their answers: E-J: To show. (There's a different perspective you ought to see.) E-P: To know. (Let me see how far I can continue to challenge.) I-J: To find. (I want to find the connections and prove their importance, for better or for worse.) I-P: To be. (What I desire proves who I am. Not the other way around.) Even if your answer differs for or by the sake of emotion or efficiency, differ by receptiveness and consciousness, no matter your character, just know that you are human. Even worlds away, no matter how simple, there is always a point in someone which understands you. Don't forget.
@@artscience9981 In my honest opinion, personality types aren't a very good representation for personal character because people can think and feel one way one day and just change the other. I'm like that, sometimes I'm an extrovert, sometimes an ambivert sometimes an introvert, sometimes I care what people think sometimes I don't, it just depends on how I'm feeling and if I want to put in the social effort. I can't even describe myself within the bounds of these 4 types because I've always felt like I had a piece of each one. I think the best judge of character is the one you actively wish people thought that you were, not categorized. P.s I know you didn't ask, but when it comes to my description above for the types, it comes from an all-world, sort of observer of the world type view, not that I am or think that I'm good enough to be, but that just sometimes I feel like that, if that makes sense. Don't know what else to tell you :)
I wish I was consistent enough to use my bullet journal. Mine has as many doodles as useful pages. I totally love and respect you INFJ ppl. Signed an INFP
Yes, the stuff about xxxPs liking to explore and go down different paths is so true. For me, that's mainly with video games. I like finding secrets and exploring to my heart's content. Sure, it takes a while to explore every nook and cranny, but that satisfaction you get when you find those little secrets that the game developers hid for curious players is awesome.
IP's do things according to their own compass.. thats true. But what happens when they dont trust their own compass? When they live in self doubt? I think that IP's have a high degree of moral responsibility, i.e. they take responsibility for their actions even if it they were following someone else's instructions. It makes their load that much harder to bear.
I think you get a very high-strung or depressed IP at that point. INFP here, and I've done that a lot. I think i found the best way out is just to make effort to grow, learn to trust myself, and cut myself some slack when I mess up, because nobody is perfect and it's ok to make mistakes. I also have a bad habit of people-pleasing, which i think at the time will help something, but ultimately just keeps me from doing what I want/need to do. It's good to help others, but it's important not to let it get to an unhealthy level
ISTP here and I usually don’t waste my time feeling guilty, I’d rather focus on fixing my mistake if I did any, I guess it all depends on whether you are more focus on the past or future, I usually pay attention on what’s coming and what’s going on with my surroundings
EPs “Here’s what I found”- yesss and I feel like I can’t leave anything out because it’s all new & interesting and I want whomever I’m telling to be able to sift through it for themselves. Lol...which is both considerate and lazy.
IJ - Good at organizing, keep things running, making things efficient, love to teach basic, and getting people to work together. I am INFJ and I can relate to all of these. Thanks for describing this in simple way so we can understand easily. And make us understand what are our strong points. 😄👍🏻
@@nunyabusiness6450 I thought they might give a sensible/right answer myself until I got to the second sentence -_- ... yh they're no exception to what they judged other people of being in their first sentence.
Yessss, as an ISTJ I look at everything regarding how efficiently things can be completed. My motto is always: “work smarter, not harder” That will be engraved on my urn, not tombstone; tombstones cost too much and burial plots are bad for the environment...PSA from your fellow ISTJ 😂
As an INTJ, this is relatable. Even the tombstone/burial issue! Unfortunately, cremation also has environmental concerns, since it contributes to air pollution (particularly if the body has mercury amalgam dental fillings). Still seems better than standard burial.
@@ibr6193 SI is only a reference of the perceiving functions, while "if it works then don't fix it" is likely true for the ISTJ it doesn't mean they can't recognize the need for new or novel ideas and functions, although coming up with those novel things might be a challenge.
@@SentoB I think it just depend on the person, but they are not the people who are more open to a new approach even if it is more practical, useful or logical.

One thing I've never seen addressed in personality type videos is how anxiety and shyness are often seen as being synonymous with introversion. It seems like anxiety is a diagnosable, treatable condition. A preference for being is not that. I've always found people draining but have never been shy or had any type of anxiety. I enjoy being alone. I'm pretty self-confident. Maybe it's age. I think a lot of people who fashion themselves introverts are really just anxious or shy or possibly both, and if those issues were dealt with they would find they are actually extroverts. That's just me going down the rabbit hole.
@Colleen Quigley I'm the same way. I prefer to be by myself as well and I also don't speak much but not because I have anxiety or I'm shy. I think people identify with either being introverted or extroverted because of socially constructed roles and categorization of personalities. Maybe the question should be more on self-confidence and self-esteem as opposed to being either intro- or extroverted. Many blessings and be well 😊🙏💖
He does have a video about different types of introverts that might be helpful. You sound like a "restrained" introvert, who just likes their alone time.
That right there is part of why I can’t figure out my type. I’m most likely extroverted but social settings can often be draining. I’m also confused about what functions I use first but that’s a separate topic.
Hey, Frank! Why don't you make a video about the "energies" of the 4 groups (IxTx - blue, the Analysts / IxFx - green, the Amiables / ExFx - yellow, the Enthusiasts / ExTx - red, the Controllers)? I think it would be really cool!

I'm an IP type, in group projects I often take the EJ role, even if it makes me feel uncomfortable at times, because I want to finish to finish the project. +I'm also often doing half of the work
Are you an INTP? Same for me when I was in school, but this is because I like things to be done my way (the right way), work alone and think other people are stupid very often. In the University when I found my group of competent and reliable people I would let them lead and just do my part. Today at work I never take the lead, work in IT, lot of competent people, still need things to be done my way and like to do things alone. Note: it make me look like an ashole talking about the dumb people, but in school I always notice that people just did not care to have things done with quality. That always make me take the lead.
Me (INTP) in a group project: Oh God no one else is organizing it or taking initiative, does that mean I have to? -> Tries to lead but it's very draining -> No one else actually contributes much -> Does everything myself -> Eventually expected to do everything myself evey time -> complains to friends Friends: Why don't you delegate tasks to your group members? Me: Uhhh that's even worse than doing everything myself so I'll just do everything myself ._.
INTP female here. I prefer to work alone but if it has to be a teamwork and no one takes initiative or I perceived as not really capable in leadership role, I take initiative immediately to lead & delegate work in a clear direction. So far they are quite responsible even tho the quality of each individual work doesn't always meet expectations, but it's okay bcs that's teamwork at least we got the job done and I hate it if people taking advantages of me by making me do all the jobs lol. What I do is try to understand each person ability in my team, delegate the work according to that, and make some to do list/brief procedures that have to be accomplished (but be sure not to be so rigid).
@@ginotsun That sounds like a much healthier use of shadow Te-Ni! As soon as I start questioning people's competence and effort, I'll want to take on their tasks because "I can do it better myself anyway and I want an A." Guess that's a bit arrogant. 🤣
@@sadlittletroll1738 ah I see. When I was younger, I used to act that way. And the way you act I think pretty much similar with some of my intj acquaintances. (Just to give u my personal perspective) when I work with that kind of person, I don't need to try hard & can be irresponsible in my work bcs in the end they'll correct it all over again as if I'm incompetent & contribute only small part so yeah I won't give my best & just screw that. 😁 As I get older, I understand that people actually try to give their best at their work if we can trust them & know how to push them. Not only we can make them to be responsible, we can also help them to learn in their own way & give them confidence in their ability. Because I know how awful it feels when people in my team underestimate my ability & think that my work is pontless, so I try my best not gonna do the same to others.
ENTJ here- half of what you said about IJ is also true for ENTJ. Creating systems, seeing both sides, being about to clearly communicate and teach. We are the most introverted of the extroverts, so it makes sense.
I'm an ENFP and same, i think the main reason behind us being good leaders is that we are good communicators and always try to be friends with everyone else as a result we end up being the centre of the group even if we are not the leaders our actions have greater effect than anyone else. To put it simply, people listen to us and follow us simply because they like us unlike EJ group whom people listen to because they have the commanding aura whether they like them or not.
as an INTP, as a child or even now, whenever someone gets control with no logic or explanation (for example “bc i said so” or “because its like that”) these things really pissed me off and also one thing is I sometimes don’t understand how people willingly wanna get married and have kids, id rather be alone and have silence and money with me only (ofc im not saying ur opinion is wrong but im saying as a kid and even now this confused me)
The most interesting types? Thank you!!! That really means so much because I think that going in the path that many others already walked on is boring, I try different paths to see if they work, how good they are etc
People who are extremely concerned with being individualistic are anything but individualistic. The people who are most individualistic are the ones who pay no attention to what anyone else is doing and these people go their own way, a way that is typically not that same way as everyone else.
Honestly, I kind of think what he talked is related like ExxJ as choleric, ExxP as sanguine, IxxJ as melancholic and IxxP as phlegmatic but just on a generalized level
@@ACrazyCrazyGirl I feel like it could go either way on what you listed for the IxxJs and the IxxPs, but maybe that's just because I, my dad, and my closest friend are all IxxJs and phlegmatic
As an ENTP here, This is 100% true to my natural tendencies, but what’s really helped me develop my communication organization is actually getting into and finding enjoyment from writing and creating. That plus being an editor really helps enable development of a focus on organization and trying to enhance that element of communication, too.
As an INTP, I understand what you're saying here. I love when I can do what I want, even in a group project. Plus, it's already soooo hard to cooperate with other people, I (and I think the other IxxP types) love when the others group members do their work. For example, I was once working with another guy in a project and he would always make me do his part of the job and doing absolutely nothing. Then, I just secretly started another project on my own and said to him I had done my own work. That's why, please, don't make things harder than they already are for us, IxxPs.
It is really wild. I am simultaneously IJ / IP. I am very other oriented and highly empathetic, team conscious, looking for ways to systematize etc... Simultaneously I have that punk rock infj indie sensibility...maybe it varies depending on the group dynamics ?...lol Thank you for your wonderful videos ❤🌻
On the mediating people/seeing both sides thing for IxxJ it varies so much! I know an INTJ who is has great skill at seeing both sides and can even argue from both for fun, but I know an ISFJ who is incredibly rigid in that area and polarized, unable to see the other side even to analyze it. I wonder if part of that is the SFJ tends to feel the disruption of systems more, so has a hard time understanding why someone would disagree or want to, and so the desire to not rock the boat becomes more important than understanding the "why" a person might push back on a system.
In short, IxxP’s place high value on the ‘ intention behind ‘ everything they do, and what others do. Also value one’s own unique identity and authenticity that’s why we’re kind of creative in a way that is uniquely different from everyone else. The way we see how we’re self-focused, we understand that other people have their own identity inside as well..
Omg lightbulb moment! I’m FOREVER trying to streamline and organize things. And I teach/train people like that too. I didn’t even know that was an ij thing. This made it so much clearer to me. Ty!
Watching this has been really interesting. Since I figured out that I'm an INFP, I've really enjoyed figuring out what other people's types are. Normally I can have trouble connecting with people, but when I do meet that rare person, it can feel really intense and I'm drawn to them like we've known each other our whole lives. I now think that indescribable feeling is related to NF. From watching this video in particular, I realized that my best friend in college was an ENFJ. We had very similar tastes and loved having long conversations about our observations and theories, but she also had this great maternal/take-the-lead/decisive quality which was great since I'm a shy. I also fell really hard for a guy in high school that was definitely an F type. I'm less sure what his whole type was, but probably also contained NF. Having an abrasive INTJ father, it was so intoxicating to meet a guy like that. Unfortunately, I've only ever felt that spark with those two. I really enjoyed the great memories that this video brought up.
Is this related to the four humours? If so I've been asking for like a year, for Frank to make this video. If not, still suggesting Frank should do a vid on the four humours/temperaments.
@@mariannek6735 it was a Greek philosophical idea that there 4 ways people act and proceed in an overall way. Sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic, and melancholic
I was hoping he'd be talking about those as well. I'm also curious if there is any correlation between them. It's honestly something I've considered studying myself.
@@atomiccritter6492 it was an ancient scientific belief that there were four liquids in the body, phlegm, blood (sanguine), yellow bile(choler), and black bile (melancholy). Whatever liquid you had the most of would affect your personality. The four humours from these liquids are Phlegmatic, Sanguine, Choleric, and Melancholy. These four base types have super interesting descriptions, and there can be mixed types too!
IPs don't like it when others try to narrow them down. It limits who they are. They are ever-expanding beings. Also, Frank has a tendency to project himself onto others. Some people find that comforting (shared experiences, shared values) but others, who are individualists, find it irritating. Their reaction is "I am different to what you think I am" or "I don't want to be the same as you".
@@heathergrahame9647 [tilts head] only if they actually care what others are thinking of them. or if they Allow others to have that kind of power. if they truly Are an individualist, what this person or that one says makes little to no difference to them. life gets much easier when you let go of giving a shit. trust me. i'm old and have learned that people really don't care who or what other people really are. they have their own mess to sort and have very little time to Actually Care what's going on with Yours.
@@kstormgeistgem461 I completely agree that life gets easier when you don't give a shit about the opinions of others. But Frank is an INFJ and their 'me-ness' or personality is very much linked to what others feel and think. INFJs just looove symbiotic, intertwined relationships. Independent types run from that, and then the INFJ is like, "How do I get this person to like me?" and they try to charm/manipulate them all the more into some sort of inter-dependent relationship (which the INFJ enjoys but independent types hate). But it would make for an interesting romance novel, I guess. Haa

I-J: To find. (I want to find the connections and prove their importance, for better or for worse.)
I-P: To be. (What I desire proves who I am. Not the other way around.)
Even if your answer differs for or by the sake of emotion or efficiency, differ by receptiveness and consciousness, no matter your character, just know that you are human. Even worlds away, no matter how simple, there is always a point in someone which understands you. Don't forget.

-> Tries to lead but it's very draining -> No one else actually contributes much -> Does everything myself -> Eventually expected to do everything myself evey time -> complains to friends

As an INFP I relate to this completely.
Sounds about right... sort of
INTP female here.

As I get older, I understand that people actually try to give their best at their work if we can trust them & know how to push them. Not only we can make them to be responsible, we can also help them to learn in their own way & give them confidence in their ability. Because I know how awful it feels when people in my team underestimate my ability & think that my work is pontless, so I try my best not gonna do the same to others.

Oh, Frank. We love ALL of your videos.
I cannot stress enough how much I love your commercial transitions.
Spicing up these editing skills and I’m here👏🏼for👏🏼it👏🏼
Do you also have a video on the four “inner letter” types (NF, NT, SF, ST) as general personality types?
i Think this is that... not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for though...

"The INTJs are going to be mad" - so pretty much like any other day.
No. Stop the cringe.
@@riverunconfirmed there we go.
INTJs are only mad on days that end in Y.
🤭
@@PlaguedByEarth The only day that doesn't end with Y is tomorrow.
As an INFP I make that IXXP face when someone says something completely wrong about something I know a lot about
Same but I'm INTP
Seems like IxxP never angry, but they collect angers and explode one day! Just like time bomb. Boom!!
I make that face when someone says something dumb. But I smile and rise my eyebrow.
And I only do it when I am on the phone.
@@nonawinda8150 That’s accurate - INTP
On the mediating people/seeing both sides thing for IxxJ it varies so much! I know an INTJ who is has great skill at seeing both sides and can even argue from both for fun, but I know an ISFJ who is incredibly rigid in that area and polarized, unable to see the other side even to analyze it. I wonder if part of that is the SFJ tends to feel the disruption of systems more, so has a hard time understanding why someone would disagree or want to, and so the desire to not rock the boat becomes more important than understanding the "why" a person might push back on a system.
Guys it's NOT the four humours. Still a cool vid.
Ah, so it's not what I was hyped for. Well, thanks for the clarification--it does seem cool so far!
I see what you did there 😏
I’m feeling sanguine about that.
Technically it kinda is...
Ej is choleric
Ep is sanguine
Ip is phlegmatic
Ij is melancholic
In short, IxxP’s place high value on the ‘ intention behind ‘ everything they do, and what others do.
Also value one’s own unique identity and authenticity that’s why we’re kind of creative in a way that is uniquely different from everyone else.
The way we see how we’re self-focused, we understand that other people have their own identity inside as well..
IJ here. I totally feel seen.
It's so frustrating when others don't care about organization or to have things go efficiently and smoothly. 😂
Ooh, what's that? Is it related to MBTI or is it something different?
@@mariannek6735 I think the Greeks or romans believed in it so you had Choleric, Sanguine and I cannot recall the other 2
@@mariannek6735 it was a Greek philosophical idea that there 4 ways people act and proceed in an overall way.
“Oh my gosh, the INTJs, they’re gonna be mad.” 🤣🤣🤣
You're spot on about the IPs. Thanks for another cool video!
Sounds like you have some history with an IxxP
IPs don't like it when others try to narrow them down. It limits who they are. They are ever-expanding beings. Also, Frank has a tendency to project himself onto others. Some people find that comforting (shared experiences, shared values) but others, who are individualists, find it irritating. Their reaction is "I am different to what you think I am" or "I don't want to be the same as you".

trust me. i'm old and have learned that people really don't care who or what other people really are. they have their own mess to sort and have very little time to Actually Care what's going on with Yours.
@@qetfsghtd2731 Yes, and even more so to the ISFP
@@kstormgeistgem461 I completely agree that life gets easier when you don't give a shit about the opinions of others. But Frank is an INFJ and their 'me-ness' or personality is very much linked to what others feel and think. INFJs just looove symbiotic, intertwined relationships. Independent types run from that, and then the INFJ is like, "How do I get this person to like me?" and they try to charm/manipulate them all the more into some sort of inter-dependent relationship (which the INFJ enjoys but independent types hate). But it would make for an interesting romance novel, I guess. Haa
Thank you very much for making a difference for us IPs between us being self driven and egoism. ❤️
As an INTJ I am horrifically offended and this ruined my life😭
You are amazing, and as an INFJ myself, we appreciate you and your incredulous mind.
Very helpful. For the first time, after being typed by website tests and wondering if it is accurate and after hearing your description of the types in this video, I said to myself “Yes, that is me.” I am an IJ Type.
Great job at debunking the letters that are much beyond just extroversion/introversion and perceiving/judging, without referring to functions. 👏🏼

I'm INFJ. When I deal with teams for work, I'm a perfectionst (veeery mild OCD has made my depression a high-functioning one). Just got my result, I am an ENTJ and I didn't even realize what I had been doing all this time was exactly what you explained about ExxJ.
I would submit, as an IP, that what is missing is what IP’s are about, not just the way they do things. IP’s are about systems (not necessarily external and utilitarian) and principles - ITP’s, logical systems, and IFP’s, ethical systems.

Of course I would really like to help ours around me too but if I am not able to keep myself sane and understand what is going on in a situation myself, then I am unsure/lost as to how I can help others.
