While I see your spooky wall, I want to hear your crow fly through the scene! I guess the next level up would be animating the tree, moss, vines to blow in the wind!
Great stuff buddy, the techniques here are basically those used in textures creation for video games (when not using something like substance painter)👊, which I do a lot of so felt right at home watching this great video 👊
Thank you...mapping is so intimidating but this is GREAT. I'd love to do something on my white garage door. I do digital decoratins on it but it would be great to add more to it. I'm definitely adding this to my project list and testing it out. Thanks again🤩😃
Oh my God... this idea to us the projector and your house as a canvas to make a custom-made projection-image is so clever... why didn't I came up with this idea by myself?!? Thanks for this AWSOME inspiration. I am very skilled with Photoshop and After Effects, so I will make an animated projection in that way. Thanks again for all your tips and tricks. And Happy Halloween :-)
Yes! Projection mapping isn't a new thing but it's becoming more accessible with a few companies offering out of the box kits. Glad you are showing ways to make your own scenes to work with the existing elements like doors and windows. It really makes a difference in the quality of the projection display when there is a level of interaction with the thing being projected on.
I went to Adobe's website to download Photoshop, which your video says you're using. I discovered there are many versions and am wondering which version you used when creating your facade in this video.
That’s so cool. We always went crazy with Halloween decor on the front of the house. Every year I thought about throwing a rock or use my BB gun to shoot out the very bright street light that’s killing my haunt. Thanks for video
Outstanding tutorial Derek!! Thank you for sharing this, I've been thinking to do something like this for a while now, specifically for Christmas this year.
Awesome tutorial Derek! Such a great accessible way for people to get into projection mapping! And it’s such an easy versatile way to transform objects! Could be used on walls, tombstones, coffins, props, it’s really endless! Thanks so much for sharing and HAPPY HALLOWEEN my friend!🎃🎃🎃😍👍
I have a killer suggestion for an idea I don't think anybody has ever done that I've seen. Can you guys make a spooky Jacob Marley outdoor decoration for spooky Christmas themes? He's the ghost in the story "A Christmas Carol" which is a ghost story. I want to do a spooky christmas setup this year as my Halloween hangover last 10 months a year but have no idea how to create this. Thanks!
This was done as an image, not a video, so there's no MP4. Also, projection mapping is specific to the surface you're projecting onto. So I don't know that this would work for anyone else.
A 1200 lumen projector might be good for a small building like this one, but if you are trying to do your whole house, you really want to be in the 3500+ range for light output.
Oh…….Kay. What did I miss. Your video showed you finding images and building the final image in Illustrator or Indesign or whatever. I don’t recall you broadcasting the final image outside with your projector. I wanted to see how it actually looked. 😊
At 3:12 you're seeing the back wall of my shop. Everything from there on out is a projected image onto that wall. The door is a real door and the tree in the upper left is a real tree. It moves in the wind throughout the video.
Thanks!

Exactly. I still have a bit of research to do before I could provide instruction.

Cool, thanks!
Nice tutorial on projection scaling and good tips on PS tools to use (there are so many options as to often be overwhelming) 👍
Glad it was helpful and yes, it can get overwhelming.

Using the projector as a second screen is genus.

Absolutely brilliant my friend!

Totally agree!
For people that want a free simple software.
You can always use the paint function in Microsoft to edit an image and save it as a png.
Did you have to setup a reflective surface Derek?
Nope. The projector was about 16 feet from the wall.
Super clever method. Makes me wonder...I can probably do this with Final Cut Pro and video footage in a timeline loop mode. Love your channel!
Absolutely.

I use the most recent version of adobe creative cloud, but any version of photoshop will work.
@@VanOaksProps Thanks for your response! Is the CC version of Photoshop something I need to pay for or is it free?
Thanks again!
I believe that all of Adobe's offerings are paid now. @@stevedrake360
Happy Halloween, sir. I hope your haunt is a happy one.
Hi, I can't get photoshop to display fullscreen on my projector.. how can I do this on mac ?
If you setup your projector as a second monitor, you should be able to run it without the menu bar.
That’s so cool. We always went crazy with Halloween decor on the front of the house. Every year I thought about throwing a rock or use my BB gun to shoot out the very bright street light that’s killing my haunt. Thanks for video
Thank God I'm not the only one that wants to take it to that level.
@@brianmoeller3539 lol 😂
I am not suggesting this, however, if one had a paint ball gun.......
@@m.maclellan7147 hmmm that’s a good idea too. You got me thinking, maybe just throwing a mud ball up to block it for the season ;)
@@WhiteysWickedWorkshop or a water based paint that rain would wash away ?
Outstanding tutorial Derek!! Thank you for sharing this, I've been thinking to do something like this for a while now, specifically for Christmas this year.
For those with a budget, there are a myriad of free alternatives to PS, like Gimp and Photopea, just to name a few.
Pixelmator on Mac is an option too
Thanks for sharing these!

Oh gosh you made that look so easy
he makes it look so easy. I would be lost. I don't use photoshop. I guess I need to learn.
16 years experience. The upside is that you only need to learn a few things to do what I did in the video.
Thanks for this. I often find editing photos to be very overwhelming.
Which software(s) did you use?
Photoshop

I'm not really a Christmas or even haunted Christmas display kinda guy. But I'm sure there's someone out there that might want to tackle this one!
That's Nice!!!!! Great Video!!!!!!!! Happy Halloween!!!!! Thank You!!!!😲👍😎🎃💀😃🤘
Thanks! You too!
Wow, very cool!
Thanks!
Can we download your mp4 file ?

Agreed.
Your shed has a flat surface. How about the front of a house?
Maybe in another video, although the process would be exactly the same.
@@VanOaksProps i think mapping uneven surfaces will be a little complicated.
I want that hat. Link?
It’s a patch from Creepy Co. sewn onto a fitted baseball cap. I’m not sure if they still sell the patch, but I’d check their website.
Thanks for the files download to the files :)
You're welcome!
You’re not gonna show what it actually looks like on the real wall? Lame.
The entire video is on the real wall...
