Yes! Old people make me cry! You’re right. I cry every time I read A Man Called Ove and also when I read A Christmas Carol. I’m basically screaming the whole time “HE WANTS TO BE GOOD!! HE USED TO BE GOOD!! WAHHH!”

Self analysis on someone who’s favorite book is A Little Life:
You may be the type of person who finds the character building as the most compelling part of a novel.
You will not turn down a well written book just because of it being sad.
You love seeing the good, bad, & the ugly in a story.

Thank you! I'm sick of people reducing a little life to a sad book when it holds so much more than that! Ironically it was the book that made me feel the most hope for a character and left me with a need to reread

The way I found out about Perks of Being a Wallflower fits what you said. I had a computer in middle school that was just for typing because I had a hard time writing. I left it in the classroom while I left to go to the room next door and when I came back someone had typed on it "You're a wallflower. You see things and you understand." I thought it sounded like a movie quote so I looked it up and found out about Perks of Being a Wallflower. I adore both the book and the movie. I never found out who typed that on my computer but I'm so thankful for whoever did.

My favorite book (even as an adult) is " A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle. I think it has strong themes of family love but also found/adopted family. It has some lovely ideas about how science and faith can coexist, as well as the subtle fear of same-ness and lack of individuality. Logical but retaining a sense of whimsy and wonder 😀

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi is my absolute favourite book of the year so far. It really helped me remember what made me fall in love with reading in the first place.
I think me loving this books means that I was dragged, kicking and screaming, away from the childhood playing pretend phase of life. And despite the fact that I mostly love the adult life that I built for myself, there will always be a part of me that will want to gather my childhood friends and run through the park pretending to be on a grand adventure.

Mirrored by Alex Flinn is my favorite book. I actually have psychoanalyzed myself on this 😂 It's modern Snow White told from the pov of Celine (Snow) and Violet (evil stepmom). Both bullied at a young age for their looks, except Violet grew to be bitter and resentful whereas Celine was still kind and compassionate.
As someone who was bullied growing up I saw myself as both characters but the book is a reminder that I can choose who I want to be.

This sounds like the time I tried to be a fortune teller to my friends, not necessarily untrue but also very philosophical. Not you saying you’re gonna roast people. 😆
I have five favourite books. The first one (Die Insel ist zu klein für uns vier) says that I am really fcking nostalgic because that is a book I read in primary school, the second one (Stranger Than Fanfiction) says about me that I like fanfiction, I liked Glee, I wanted to become an author or actor when I read that and I like sunglasses, the third (I Wish You All The Best) says that I was a queer nonbinary teenager, the fourth (Can’t Take That Away) says that I am the queer theatre kid (or at least I aspire to be known as that one day) and my most recent favourite (A Marvellous Light) says about me that I am still queer and like complex magic systems with subtle discussions of what intelligence is and complex characters (with development). So all in all that says about me that I am a queer nonbinary nostalgic teenager with a love of theatre, fantasy, complex characters with lots of character development and a complex magic system (which a preference of contemporary or fantastical). Not too much, tbh.

I feel like your reads for my favorite books (Addie LaRue and The Raven Boys) weren’t very accurate to me, you hit on a few things especially for TRB, but in general weren’t super accurate. I think it’s because what you focused on were not the things in the books that were my favorite parts and/or the characters I related to the most. Like for Addie LaRue I related a lot more to Henry than I did to Addie so your analysis wasn’t very accurate because it related more to Addie’s character. Though there was a few things you said that I felt. Your analysis for TRB was more accurate but I feel like my love of TRB reflects my views on friendship more than anything else. And I’m not quite as adventurous as I would like to be but I am a little weird lol
