I’m sooo happy you liked A Good Girls Guide To Murder!! It was the first thriller/ murder mystery I have ever read and I loved it!! The second and third books in the series are amazing too!! By the end of the trilogy you will be so attached to the characters. Holly Jackson has another book that just came out called five survive. It was good and is worth a read but compared to her other books it’s not as good in my opinion. Hope you have an amazing Valentine’s Day!!❤❤😊
The first book of a good girls guide to murder was good but not amazing for me but I was invested so I read the second and third. Those two are significantly better (and darker) I felt like pip and the side characters were a bit 1-dimensional for me but Holly Jackson really fleshed everyone out in the later books, I loved how pip developed and the way the author depicted her trauma was disturbing and devastating and I definitely understand how she ended up the way she did. OH AND I ALSO LOVE THE PARALLELS SHE MADE BETWEEN ANDIE AND SAL WITH PIP AND RAVI IN THE LATER BOOKS. one thing I didn’t like however was how random pip and ravi’s relationship felt in the first and second book, but in the third I really like the way she wrote them, I don’t know how to describe it without spoilers BUT IT WAS GOOD. the series as a whole isn’t realistic at all but it was enjoyable, a faced paced read and emotional read. Edit: Also the things that seem cliche and out of place all tie together in the second and third books which I really like.
If you want a translated novel about a cat and an owner, please please please read The Travelling Cat Chronicles. It is beautiful and emotional and definitely worth your time!
I loved good girls guide , I followed along with the audio because it has full cast and the podcast in it which brings it to life more I’m currently reading/listening to the finale of the series
I enjoyed Good Girl’s Guide to Murder but also find the criticisms very valid! There are some points when I was so mad at Pip while reading yelling at her and thinking the scenario or circumstance would NEVER happen!! But it was also a lot of fun reading and loved Pip’s notes sprinkled within it!
I can finally complement the gorgeous idea that Jesse had for his bookshelves! I know it can be weird but I'm really in love for how it turn out, like clean and solid, so him! IN LOVE 🥰✨✨
@@jessethereader yeah I know, I’ll enjoy it as long as you leave it 🥰 Hope one day you mix the naked books with books turned to see the beautiful edges :3
This video shows that how different people have different opinions and I like that idea. For me the good girls guide series was one of the best series I read last year.
I love seeing Emma here!!! I love her so much. I also have kingdom of little wounds and am very slowly making my way through it and literally all my tabs are just for "illness", "death", "weird", "gross"...... 😅 can't wait to see your opinions on all the books haha and now on to watching!
My days always get better because of your videos! Thanks for being authentic and honest, it gives me a comfort since I’ve been watching your channel for so many years
You made the last two months better for me! I have been dealing with the death of someone really close to me as well as dealing with problematic family members.
If you want to get into translated literary fiction more you should definitely try the travelling cat chronicles. Most wholesome and heartbreaking book I’ve read
The second and third books of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder go way more in depth with the characters so I really recommend reading them! I personally thought the third book was the worst out of the 3 but who knows, maybe you'll like it more than I did. What I will say though is that it gets WAY more intense later in the series
I flipped when I saw you read AGGGTM, which is maybe the first one you and I have in common! *Total honesty right now, I thought you had read it because of a UA-cam video I did RIGHT BEFORE you put it up on Goodreads, hahaha!* I feel like you and I could just gab about it and have such the same opinions!🤗
I think my least favorite was Aristotle and Dante, it SURPRISES me how many people love this? Even if you ignore the trainsphobia (for utube), which I don't, there were so many editing mistakes that kept taking me out of the story? I'm not a harsh critic when it comes to grammar and editing mistakes, but actual book critics usually are, and the combination of those and the problematic story line like jump scared me because of all the praise lmao
God I hated good girl's guide to murder, maybe because I actually read and watch a lot of crime stuff so it was so infuriating. It went down too fast, she had too much plot armour, it was just too easy for her. I just don't get why people love it.
I’ve seen this take on a few platforms before but regarding the YA classification (I have very little evidence to this so do your own research) but it seems like a lot of female/fem identifying authors r placed in the YA category when they should have been placed elsewhere.
Started watching your channel back in 2017, and you were my first booktuber whose recommendations I absolutely fell in love with, and emmie is my recent favorite. It's amazing to see you reading emmies recs. It's like I've come a full circle
i loved reding a good girls guide to murder up until abt the last 50 pages. it was relatively well written and even though it wasnt realistic it was good, but the insane amount of plot twists at the end rly annoyed me. it was like almost resolved like 15 times and then went back on what it said.
I really liked A Good Girl's Guide to Murder because the trope that you disliked (understandably so) I thought was actually done well, in like a silly goofy kind of way. It reminded me of Pretty Little Liars, so even though I'd never read it before, it had this nostalgic air already about it. Though, I haven't read the other two yet. I do have a copy of the second book though...
I tried The Kingdom of Little Wounds. I didn't make it past the first fifty pages. I didn't like how bodily it was written and it made me uncomfortable. My worst book of the year though was Fierce Fairytales by Nikita Gill. There was some good stuff in there. A handful of poems and stories. such as seven, a story from the perspectives of the seven drawfs but as sins, and through them it showed the truth of Snow White's relationship to the prince. And the poems and stories also showed all perspectives. So you would get Cinderella's and then you would get the stepmother and the stepsisters, showing how they got to where they were and why they treated Cinderella the way they did. But it did read very much like a first draft. A series of ideas and plans instead of fully realised poems and stories. And as a result the collection fell flat and unremarkable.
Amazing video as always 😍 the way you speak is so nice Please save yourself the trouble of reading the rest of the gggm trilogy.... loved the 1st books, the 2nd was meh and the 3rd was just so disappointing...

Great video Jesse 😄 I took all of the covers off of my books last year…it only lasted two days before I put them all back. I also once turned all of my books around so they were facing pages out which was difficult when I was looking for something but I kept it for a few months.

The thing with the a good girls guide to murder trilogy is that you get SO much more character growth and work in the 2nd/3rd book

For the first book it seems like it was YA solely based in character age or the author being a woman ,cause YIKES.
