And the shiny diploma, of course, lol. Not everyone gets out of uni with that character development, tho.

I have a friend in my program that went to Yale for undergrad. He’s naturally intelligent, and we’re physicists now in grad school at another Ivy. Grad school tho? I found undergrad harder than grad school, not cause of the material, cause dear GOD this shit is painful and no one can help you at this level, but it’s easier in terms of dealing with it. The discipline that these schools teach you, whether you’re a double Ivy like some of my colleagues, or like me who’s just now being trained by the most prestigious people, the support required to keep you SANE because of the difficulty is insane. Luckily, if you don’t wanna drown you need to collaborate, so whereas undergrad was constant competition, grad school is collaboration
This is how i felt during my undergrad..i studied computer science at university of Toronto, it may not be as impressive as Harvard, yale, Cambridge etc but it was one of the top Schools in Canada so getting into the major, and trying to keep up with one of the most intense programs at the school and trying to graduate was certainly stressful. Everyone of my classmates were very intelligent and very much talented as well. Graduating felt like a huge accomplishment in one of the most competitive schools and programs within the school. Except now that im 30 i still struggle to find my passion :( which im working on now. Super glad to hear film found her and now shes happy with where she's at. I hope to be in that spot too one day.
My experience was by accident and hopefully you can see the light for yourself. Don’t stress..I was a single mom, working as an assistant without a degree. I accidentally fell in love with my bosses career. She made it seem so easy, she had swag, she respected everyone and made sure to help those who needed it. I, have the same talent surprisingly and only found out by being exposed to this career…This motivated me to finish my bachelors degree in what I wanted. I’m graduating soon and I’ll be inviting her, I already told her. Perhaps opening your heart and switch careers. Look at what you’re naturally good at, maybe a career in which you feel like you can help. Become someone’s assistant. Volunteer and you’ll be surprised how much that can influence your path in life. I volunteer on skid row in LA-anyone who lives here knows it’s damn crazy of me to do it, but I’ve been able to learn a lot!

You can still do that but you’ll lose a marketing avenue that can help you find an audience. That’s the hardest part you’re going to have is finding someone who will buy your art. Unless you have a patron of some kind no one’s going to pay you to just make art. You gotta sell yourself all the time and learn to connect with people or else your art just isn’t going to stand out from the sea of others also trying to make art. You don’t need to be Jake Paul but you do need to have a healthy appreciation for marketing of which being an influencer is part of the deal.
I'm in one of the most prestegious highschool in my country, some even call it the most prestegious, and I got humbled fast. Everyone's very clever, and talented, you can literally tell who's good at what, and there's me, a jack of all trades but a master of none. but it comes with it's benefits, one of my very very intelligent friend asked me how I know stuff in a lot of different fields and topics, and I just go like, Google. 😂

I know people who went to other Ivy leagues (Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Cornell, Columbia, brown) and they said it was easy AF (generally speaking). But those people really deserved to be there. The bottom 50% of Ivy leagues are just smart people whereas the next 25% are very smart and the top 25% are border line geniuses.
Yale is boring as hell. Its in a rinky dink city next to a ghetto section of New Haven. If you have to pick an Ivy, I recommend Harvard instead of Yale. But if you do choose Yale, head to my favorite boba shop there. Its called “Loose Leaf”. Just some thoughts from an Alumnus (Class of 2020).
On average, 6-8 years of premed and medical school and then 5 years residency and then 3 years additional training to work independently. Thats 16 years after high school. To goes by quickly though 😅
The startup I was at 23 years ago hired someone out of Yale, MS Compsci. Poor girl couldn't write a page of C code to save her own life. Either she lied on her resume, or certain departments at Yale are sketchy, or just teach all theory and no practice.

I’ve met the smartest people in special projects in the military. Submariners, Seals, CBRN, EOD guys are crazy, First Recon Marines and Rangers are crazy and scary too. Swcc Air-force Intelligence. Signal intelligence for each branch
To be honest, you’ll feel like you’re not all that at any college or anywhere you go. Even at a state school, I was quickly humbled by super intelligent people who were also pre-med. it made it more intimidating for sure.

Definitely shadow a ton if you are pre med bc there is so much more to being a doctor than what gets portrayed. Also I always asked the doctors I shadowed: if you had the option to do it all again, would you? If you were my age what advice would you give yourself? Lots of doctors said that they would have chosen a different path.

@@microbees2437 it's spread out through Downton new haven. basically the campus is in the middle of the city, not in a secluded space. but it's not like a nice college town.. the area where Yale is has its nice parts but it's extremely busy and there is lots of homeless people and druggies. not very safe. you should visit before deciding to go there, and I don't just mean a tour they provide because they definitely will only show you the good parts, I mean go explore the area of downtown new haven. and you will constantly hear ambulances and sirens all the time. Yale is awesome and has its good parts but location is a big deal breaker for people

News flash at 99% of universities across North America students are are smart. On a side note I met lots of Ivy League students or alumni and most of them seemed as sharp as a bag of marbles.

I worked with Ivy league grads my entire life. Not impressed. Perhaps coming from HS working with the top 10% performers consistently is a different pace.

Just because your kid is a little bright does not mean they can be doctor. If you were a little smart and didnt need to study much in highschool you will fail pre med.
Bio/chem aka pre med and engineering are by far the hardest nost competitive majors.

I hate when people act so confident and smart like this. I never give myself the confidence to act like I could have been something like a surgeon when I’m not. She wants to say she’s so smart and could have been a surgeon when in reality she switched her major after the first hard STEM class. And doctors look down on nurses, at least the nurse took anatomy
Good, because if I had a surgeon who was a little bit into eastern medicine or being a hippy, I'd find another doctor.
