@John doue Quebec It's because jobs for those people are mostly government or non-profit jobs. Think tanks, NGOs, journalism, or directly into politics are the ones that make the most sense and all of those are not hugely well paid. The more profitable option is probably to do public policy for a corporation, or go to law school.
@John doue Quebec Well, they aren't useless. It's a great pre-law major and a fair number of people badly want to work in politics even though it's very competitive and winner-take-all. It's just that entry level jobs are very low-paid. The people going into public sector jobs aren't the ones looking for stable, high salaries.
R lyons I think she meant after graduate school. Because she was not clear on whether he meant after undergrad or grad and he replied “or after grad school too” 🤷♀️
It depends she’s obviously planning on grad school. If she goes to med school it’ll be much higher. Most people with a bio Chem major don’t enter the work force after undergrad so it’s a pretty impossible question to answer.

He's at an expensive private college in Boston. It costs $72,000 a year to go there between tuition and room and board. me watching as a music ed major that'll make MAYBE 30k my starting years: 👁👄👁
I almost spit my drink out when that biochem major said she was gonna start out making 90k. Like.....we sittin here in the lab making 30-40k lol. You ain't gonna make anywhere even close to that just coming out of undergrad lol.
Erin, same! I was told in school, “you can start with $50-60k staring salary” for what I studied. then you earn the degree, and see on job postings the requirements you match but starting wage is like $12-16 an hour 😭🙈
“Their father can sue you.” Glorious...
-how much do you expect to earn?
Art students: nothing. Im gonna live under a bridge.
(Im an art student, please don't hurt me)
:,(
Being an art student must be amazing. And im sure you’ll find someone who loves your stuff just as much as you do ☺️ buuuut I‘m sorry, this is totally weird to say but i‘ve seen this a couple times now under different videos, where people simply ask not to be hated for their comment. I just had to say a thing because the comment section is actually such a unimportant thing yet people pick up fights and start arguments and spread hate. Over, when you really think it through, mostly nonsense, but it really bothers me that people sometimes have to be afraid to even post a simple comment. And, if it was a joke, great.👼🏻 But I just wanted to point that people nowadays get hated on because of a comment, which is really sad. 😔 we should all spread love, acceptance and respect instead of hate ✌🏻☺️♥️
I was gonna say, where my art majors at???
Art student here too yike

Lol yeah. Her nurturing vibe but also the strict take no shit mentality.
It’s because she said that her major is thought of as “easy”.
Shan Rizwan the way she told you that you were getting closer/further away from her major is very reminiscent of how my teachers used to talk to me in high school! You can tell that she is on the right career path and has got it all down pat already

@@prestonp.9473 Yeah after like 10 years
Haha good luck on getting hired!
@John doue Quebec Well, they aren't useless. It's a great pre-law major and a fair number of people badly want to work in politics even though it's very competitive and winner-take-all. It's just that entry level jobs are very low-paid. The people going into public sector jobs aren't the ones looking for stable, high salaries.

felt kinda bad for that bio chem major like she really thinks that when she graduates she'll be making 90k. she won't be making 90k. Maybe MAYBE 60k.
anything is possible

BC is a great school, avg is avg not high of range
R lyons I think she meant after graduate school. Because she was not clear on whether he meant after undergrad or grad and he replied “or after grad school too” 🤷♀️
It depends she’s obviously planning on grad school. If she goes to med school it’ll be much higher. Most people with a bio Chem major don’t enter the work force after undergrad so it’s a pretty impossible question to answer.

- Not high
- What's like a number ?
- 60k

He's at an expensive private college in Boston. It costs $72,000 a year to go there between tuition and room and board. So, while he's probably off base with his starting salary he's not wrong that it's low compared to the people he knows and their families -- probably he considers all new-grad salaries low.
That’s pretty low considering the cost of education...lmao
My first job as an accountant pays 56k (in Dallas, TX so standard of living is a little high) and it felt like I had way more money than I knew what to do with. 60k for a single person is a TON.
It’s by metropolitan. 70k is considered low-income in SF.

Whenever he asks what’s a common stereotype and they answer “it’s easy” I’m always like “ART/DESIGN/FILM MAJOR??” And then they have a book major and I’m like T.T because I’m a design/film major and everyone thinks all we do is just play all day and in class but in reality, I have never pulled so many all nighters till I switched majors to this one (I used to be psych/political science) major)
Hows film major? Haha
This reminds me of what happens in my profession when we choose a residency field. It’s basically a personality test. The jocks choose ortho. The ones with crazy eye-hand coordination become surgeons. The nerds (yeah, I know, we’re all nerds, different scale here) go into internal med subspecialties like renal or neuro. The do-gooder idealists (like me) do family medicine. The people who can watch the Lion King 50 times without getting bored go into peds. The crazy people choose psych. And so on…

more of a stereotype, not sure if it’s true haha

the athletes at my school are stereotypically kinesiology majors 😂

2:23 What is Timothée Chalamet doing in boston? lol
I don’t see how being a communications major would have an athletic stereotype around it??
I thought it was gonna be kinesiology lol
kayden Stewart same! Or physical therapy
The reason is that a lot of athletes choose communications as their major
Comm is seen as the easy major at a lot of schools. So my guess would be athletes at that school major in it because it's easy. At my school the stereotype is "failed out of their first major". Not saying I agree, just guessing.
