I love daylight steam locomotives even AMTRAK
Me too 😊
Tony Lampl Thank you for the comment. In the past, I used to make more narrated videos, but for whatever reason, they didn't seem to be as popular as the ones that were not narrated. This is not to say that I won't make any more narrated videos in the future. In fact, I made one at the beginning of the summer. I also have plans to release another narrated video in the coming weeks that I am currently working on. As for the length of time to make a 10 minute long video, it really depends on what the video is about. It can take anywhere from a couple hours to several days worth of time. This particular video was filmed on 3 consecutive days, of which only about 5 to 6 hours of time were spent filming. Thanks again!
epic catch on the sp 4449 man. ;)

Hi Mike I have a video suggestion for u: trains at sunrise
Loves seeing Portland and of course the trains. What a nice surprise to see the beautiful Steam Locomotive!!! Keep up the great videos! Many thanks….
12 1/2 minutes of pure delight, thanks so much for the great footage. I subscribed :)
Ah yes. Good old Portland. God I miss when this used to be such a great railfanning location! Everyone used to want to come to Portland Oregon! Now everyone films at Vancouver Washington because they think Portland has become hell. They just don’t see the good part! It’s not all bad! We need to have railfans return to Portland Oregon!
I LOVE Portland! Not only is it close to where I live, but it's the perfect place to trainspot! It's trains GALORE in Portland. I've been to the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, where they keep 4449, and there were trains from steam locomotives to streetcars.
excellent shots of the Daylight. Nice to see its still up and running.
Once again, excellent shots Mike! Portland's definitely an awesome place to get some sweet shots!
***** Thanks Patrick!
Great video. Especially the Doppler effect with the horns!
I enjoyed this video today a lot and I love the Portland Oregon trains video with the Metra Chicago commuter trains video.
Nice video. Just wish you had some shots of the S.P.&S. 700 in it
6:21 8:46 I wish there was a railroad that operates exclusively with steam locomotives.
Great videos. Thanks for no music in background. Nice to hear just the sounds of the trains.
What shows up at 6:21 ... makes this entire video! WOW!
8:23 that P42DC's air horn sounds like a freight train such as an ES44AC
Fr
Those are called the hybird horn
4449 FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I've ridden the Cascades down to Seattle and another time to Centrailia. Lovely Ride!!
SO NICE,MAN
(9:47) That was the PW local train led by four of P&W's GP38-2 locomotives.
Actually they are GP39-2's.
An élégant selection of shots of some special trains. You must spend quite some time track side. Whatever, this time it was well worth it.
Rob Catt Thank you, as always Rob. Some videos take a while to film. This one actually wasn't as challenging as some of them for the reason that Downtown Portland has some pretty heavy train traffic. My guess would be about 5 to 6 hours total were spent filming which, given the volume of clips, isn't all that bad. Thanks again.
Rest in peace Spanish Talgo 6 ( 1998-2017 ). We’ll miss them won’t we UA-cam?
MARK and me LOVE trains !
I think your videos are awesome say by the way can you do some on the southern pacific daylight thanks
P.P.S. Visit the Doyle McCormack Train museum which holds three steam trains including the Daylight, and two Nickel Plate Diesels, plus a few cars.
Hey Mike,
As always I really enjoy your videos. Have you ever thought about narrating more of your videos (Like her comes a XZY Train, or I am at XYZ location in this shot)? Also how long does it take you to get enough footage to do a 10 plus minutes video?
Please keep up the great videos!
Sp 4449 está usando o 49's new whistle e NP z-6 challenger whistle igual a vozes da tia Malurcia & tia Alice

Thats weird. I've lived in Portland for 12 years, and still am living there, yet I havn't seen the Daylight (#4449) pull a mixed tourist passenger train except for when I ride the Holiday Express....How long were you in Portland?
Coaster you were one year apart from 4449 getting the most friendly whistles of times.
Sp 4449 celebrating 70th years old wishram steam train

I would like the city of Portland in Oregon Department of Transportation to have a regional commuter rail system proposal to run on existing freight rail lines from Portland Union Station would use Push-Pull trainsets from congestion levels.

How'd you get a shot of the Southern Pacific 4449 locomotive without an excursion?
Shadow The Hedgehog It was being moved to Union Station prior to pulling an excursion.
No..The first shot of Sothern Pacific.
I know, that's what I just said. It is stored in a roundhouse on the south side of town and they have to move it to Portland Union Station to get to the passenger cars.
Oh. Thanks. Still though, good shot of Southern Pacific 4449. Also, glad it's running again. They kinda scared me when the boiler expired. PHEW!
CoasterFan2105 not anymore. The 4449 and other Locomotives and rolling stock are located right next to omsi. The ORHC hosts them, as well does Saturday excursions with Oregon Pacific GMD-1 no. 1413. I have been trying to upload my cab ride videos made in no. 1413 and I will ( try ) and keep up to date with that stuff. If you'd like to see 1413 in action, go to my channel and look for it.
I was disappointed with photo ops of 4449 this year. It was raining and its use was restricted between Oaks Park and the Ross Island Bridge, probably owing to difficulties with the MAX line and Bus traffic. I did get on the bank about half way down where the bike trail passes under the rails but the light was poor and I could not get far enough away to get nice images. It was so cold that I ran out of stamina to try any more. It would have been nice to take photos of it in front of the Museum there, but it was only there in the dark. Bummer.
+Khadijah Brown Hopefully it will make some longer trips next year.
CoasterFan2105 Hopefully
Rare catch with the daylight 4449 and amtrak special with no cars.
Sp 4449 going to wishram

My fav is 8:45
u should make tons of dis videos
Sp 4449 high speeds fast
Most enjoyable video, makes our locos here in the UK look so small, even though we have the same track width. Most of our railways were built over 100 yrs ago and pass under many low bridges etc I'm still trying to find a book on identifying your locos; any suggestions.........................Mike in Wales...................look at...............TheMichaelWilcock..............my YT
Mike Wilcock there’s a book that I found that goes through time, with every train in the UK and the US, the book is called “The Big Book of Trains” and it has a ton of cool information, but it’s quite old, so it might be hard to find
(7.Feb.2020)
