    Here's a counter to the white background theory. I search to see who else is selling the same item. If most everyone is using a white background i will use a background with color that makes my product stand out. It works for me.

    Do you think the 1:1 photo ratio is the most important tool to use to get your listings more visibility? I see lots of sellers having success with using textured wood, fluffy rugs and/or plants in their backgrounds and was thinking of switching from a white background to that.
    Great video, I definitely learned some new useful tid-bits!!

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 роки тому +6

      Hey Lucy! The one to one aspect ratio is definitely probably the most important thing to focus on right now with Ebay photos. Ebay will give you a bump and search if you use square aspect ratio photos because it’s more compatible for mobile. When it comes to your background, really the most important thing is just having a professional and clean look. Google shopping likes to pick up eBay listings that have white backgrounds, so it gives your products a little bit more visibility across the entire Internet. However, if you want to give your listings a different background to stand out above the crowd it probably wouldn’t hurt, and might actually set you apart from your competitors. I hope this helps!

      Switch to all Patagonia items and it will not matter if you film in a rainstorm at midnight on your front porch. Have dog hold the item even.
      eBay is not the Louis Vuitton catalog. Shoppers want a deal...fancy photos screams not the best deal...

    This advice is 3000,, I've been doing this for 24 years. It depends on what your photographing for your photo props. I ham it up, but I don't overdo it. Is to promote pleasant feelings when you're looking at the cool item. And people appreciate it in a more likely to click buy it now or bid. You're giving them a piece of your soul. People that are real good at it are called photographers. I usually use natural light and create subtle shadows. Peace

    When using the 1:1, does only the main photo matter for getting better searches, or should all the photos be square? There are times of course when I want to take certain angles with a regular ratio so I can crop it more freely.
    A more detailed question that I would truly appreciate your feedback is: Would it affect the algorithm if a few (or all) of my photos are regular ratio but the main one stays square?
    Thank you and your videos are so well made!

    • @williamphan5408
      @williamphan5408 Рік тому +3

      My original thought as well.
      But, I think you should keep a consistent 1:1 ratio for all images.
      Instead of worrying about not fitting in all the features of the product, just add more photos.
      Just my two cents on the algorithm appreciating consistency.

    I have one more question, hope you do not mind. Say you are listing 10 items, do you do all the drafts before inserting the picture or do you do them one at a time? I hope this question makes sense to you. Thank you so much for the help.

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 роки тому +1

      I never mind answering questions. Typically, I like to create a bunch of drafts and then do all of my photo. For me, it seems to set a better rhythm/flow to my listings sessions a(nd I can get more listed in short time period versus going back and forth between each listing). It's easier to do this method when you're listing a lot of items in the same category/type. You'll find that if you're listing items that are different, that sometimes it's easier to just focus on listing and photographingon thing at time. That being said, my biggest advice is to find a system that works best for you. But also, don't be afraid to try different methods. At the end of the day, the single biggest factor that leads to success on eBay is how much you list. The more you list (and the more items you have in your store) the more money you'll make. I can tell that you definitely have a "growth mindset" mentality, and that is going to take you far with your business!

    Just to make sure I have it correct. (1) make a draft on your computer and save it. (2) Pull up the saved draft and use Ebay app to take photo and insert. What is the brand and model of the lights you use?

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Della! Yes, that is the process that I have used for years. It seems to be the quickest and most efficient way for me to list. Taking photos on the app is great because it cuts out having to upload them on the computer. The reason why i draft listings on the computer is because its faster to type and edit than it is on the phone. The method that I use blends the best of both and really helps me get a lot of listings up. Also, these are the lights that I use. I've used them for many years and they've been great. Plus, they're affordable as well as compared to other higher end photo lights:

    Hello, I do not see the icon to remove the background like you were showing; I have only 3 options. How can get the additional option? Is it related to the iPhone model or if we are a beginner on EBay or not? What is your guess? Thanks

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Claudia! That happened to me once. The best way to "fix" the problem is to make sure that you have the latest version of the eBay app installed on your phone. I got it to work by deleting the app, and downloading it again from the app store. Typically that will solve the issue, but if it doesn't you could try contacting ebay or try some of the other help tips in this eBay help article:

    What do you think of putting Gold no1 seller badges, UK flags and that kind of imagery on the photo?

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 роки тому

      I think it's a great idea to add to photos. You'll find that a lot of corporate and large volume sellers do that a lot to add info that they want customers to see without having to look at the item description. I'd say as long as it doesn't take away or distract from the item you're listing that it would be fine.

  • @maxinef6654
    @maxinef6654 2 роки тому

    I didn’t know you could take photos in the eBay app. I normally create my listings and save the drafts, then go into the app and upload my photos from my camera roll. Where do you store your photos? My photos are using up a lot of storage on my phone.

    • @CoachCommerce
      @CoachCommerce  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Maxine! Yes, you can take photos directly from the app. I do this with every listing so I don't have to transfer or store them externally. I don't store backups of my photos because I've never really saw a need. I list all of my items good till' canceled, so the pictures are hosted by ebay until the item sells and ebay ends the listing. In the past, I've used 3rd party software (such as inkfrog and sixbit) to have backups of all of my listings. But in my 10 years of selling, I've never had any issues with ebay losing any photos so I no longer bother with that as well. Hopefully I don't ever regret that decision, but I figure the time I would spend storing photos is time that I could use better if I focused on just listing more. I hope this helps! ~ Justin
      PS: If you take photos with the ebay app, the app will save the photos to your camera roll. You can turn this off by going into your app settings > general > stored photos. When you turn the toggle off, the photos wont save to your phone.
