I use my Wiim as the preamp in my two channel setup. I feed a turntable via the line input and output into a dac and then an older Linn power amp. Impressive and automatically switches inputs when I change sources. With the volume control and eq it’s super flexible.
Long story, tens of thousands of dollars later, I have a vintage 1970 Sansui 4000 stereo receiver, with one AUX input... I had a Venus II 12th DAC, it is gone. Sounded like a wet blanket with the Sansui... My Mercury v2 streamer sounded thin... I kept hearing everyone say how great this $150 streamer is and so I bought a WiiM for shits and giggles. The WiiM simply ROCKS! The secret sauce of the WiiM Pro, is the EQ. I kept my PS Audio GainCell DAC/Analog Preamp and hooked that up to the Sansui, the WiiM Pro handles the streaming. The speakers are a pair of Zu Audio Omen Dirty Weekends... Those three pieces, $2250, all used gear, other than the WiiM... The sound is simply INCREDIBLE! I sold the Venus and other gear and had monies left over to pick up a Mofi StudioDeck TT with their MasterTracker cartridge... Not looking back. Listening to the my favorite FM radio station right now, on the tuner. ;-)
just received mine yesterday and sounds great, but they just released the pro plus WTF! lol e day later. thank got for free returns on amazon. I pulled the trigger on the pro plus which is supposed to sound better if you do not use an external DAC which is the way I hooked it to a vintage amp. I will compare and contrast and see if there is a difference.
I had a WiiM for a bit but returned it as I found my marantz with heos was a similar interface and can run 192/24 got the job done. But the versatility of the WiiM is unmatched good review
I love your taste in music! great review I just got mine and I'm hooking it to a 2000 watt carving system. lol over kill three way speakers and a 18 inch subwoofer all from the early 2000's great review!
I used to play in two rock bands, this system is a left over from my hey day. I'm so glad I didn't get rid of it. It's in my GYM so gets used daily. thanks for your response.
I just bought the Wiim Pro. I have a Yamaha Amp Techniques turntable and Bowers and Wilkins speakers. I am a UA-cam Music user. If i connect the Wiim to my Yamaha Amp and setup my home wifi. Can i Bluetooth UA-cam Music to the Wiim?
Sheesh! I’ve honestly been revisiting this comment the past few days, trying to find a budget Hi-Res streamer that supports USB thumb drives, but the cheapest one I found was $499? 🤷♂️ Not exactly budget for just a streamer…
I got mine with the remote, just for 10 bucks more its actually worth it just for the mute button I 4 presets button, voice button, previous, next source switch totally worthy!
I have a chromecast ultra connected to an hdmi audio extractor for my backyard speakers, but the audio has been pretty bad. Time for an upgrade! This is filling the void google left when they got rid of the chromecast audio. Thank you. Amazing video as always!
Hilarious intro. Excellent video. Car/fuel analogy was a bit of a blunder. The Fiesta ST benefits hugely from higher octane gas. A base model... absolutely a waste. I'm just a stickler for automotive content. If you know anyone with a Fiesta ST, or can rent one....please drive one!! The Wiim Pro is the best bang for the buck on the market for audio streaming and a digital brain/controller for audio in the home.
Nice content! Do you think this would be a good solution for the Nakamichi Dragon soundbar, or would something like the Eversolo/Zidoo be a smarter alternative? Cheers!
Hmmm…The Wiim is mostly for musical applications, whereas something like a Zidoo would be a better network streaming player, like if you have music and or movies stored on it.
I have it saved as "Until Tomorrow," but I honestly have no idea who it's by or where I got it from. I think I just picked it up from some royalty free website some years ago, but that's unfortunately all I remember...
So does this mean I could plug my record player into the Wiim Pro and then essentially cast that audio to all my Google/Nest speakers throuhout the house?
In theory, yes. Although when I tried to create a speaker group with the Wiim Pro and 2 of my Google Home minis, only the minis appeared. They are several years old now, though, so maybe I need newer Nest minis or something. 🤷♂️
Does your Peachtree have a built in DAC? I had a Peachtree DAC IT X and it died. No more Peachtree for me. I love my WIIM PRO connected to 3 different DACs. No. Not all at once silly
@@davidiiiferber2939 Eh, maybe. The Pro definitely has a better DAC and supports more features like Chromecast (if that matters to you). The Pro also has more output options, whereas the Mini only has aux and optical outputs.

Hell YES! 🤘 Yeah, That powerful EQ is simply the best part, I agree. They sure did their homework! 🎉
Wow. I have minis and did not realize I can hook up my LP Player to it. Just tried it out and was streaming it over the house. Very cool
Hooray! 🎉
If I'm not mistaken you'll need a phono preamp, but if I'm wrong, please let me know. Thank you
Ealan,
I wish you could've done the review on the Wiim Pro+... clearer audio maybe?... but then again it could be a whole new architecture..
I hope to review the Plus as well! Hopefully! 🤞🤞
Great product for the price. Have had mine for a few months. Very cool. Good review.
Enjoyed the fun of the review too.
Can you go through all the in depth settings? I've just seen the general details of this box
How do you connect the WiiM Pro Plus to a small NAS like a Synology DS120j? Do you need to install any software? Thanks
I’m not all too familiar with NAS servers, but here’s a Wiim forum post that might help? 👇👇

Great review!! A question: Does the Wiim EQ works only to analogue output, or also via digital output (to an external dac)? Thank you
As far as I know, the EQ should apply to anything that runs through the Wiim Pro 👍

could u please recommend a hi res audio player to play wav and flac files from usb, which is budget friendly. Thanks

I have two WiiM minis. Unmatched for streaming audio options on a budget. Maybe even not even when on a budget.
Can you review the Cerwin Vega 215?
Maybe? 🤷♂️

Can you change the output on the wiim remote or do you have to use the app to do this?
Yes, there is a source button on the remote.
So does this mean I could plug my record player into the Wiim Pro and then essentially cast that audio to all my Google/Nest speakers throuhout the house?
Right now I'm using a Google Home Max to do that. Had no idea this existed until now. Good to know there are alternatives and options.

Good review, so wiim is capable of running Apple Music? Some say yes and no?
I mean, I didn’t have any trouble with Apple Music… 🤷♂️
So when using rca plugs am I still getting high resolution audio? I’m also chromcasting.
Correct. 🎉
@@ealanosborne so I’m only using my WiiM Pro for my Marantz receiver. Should I just buy the mini instead?
