I think that is a great idea! I’ve used it for projects but hadn’t thought of it for the simple textures! TFS -I’ll give it a more serious look as I have quite a bit on hand!
Question I made some texture paste and when I went to use it a month or two later, there was mold in it. I used distilled water. I did note use your recipe. How long will does yours stay. Should I made it in smaller amounts if I am not using it regularly?
How long do the quantities that you make (based on 1 part equaling 1 cup? Or how long does it take you to use up the quantities you make? Thanks for the recipes.
About 4 months for me! I looked at the date I filmed that video which was eight months ago today and I have repeated the process one time and I am getting ready to do it once again!
@@TwoOldCrowsMixedMedia I'll need to make some! I was avoiding doing some texture techniques because of having to buy stuff. Most of the ingredients I have so if I make them (thanks to your recipies!) I can make a bit and try the techniques out. Many thanks to you. P.S. I love watching your videos. Keep it up.
I'm not sure . . . I did research it a bit and I found one recipe for clear gesso that uses 1/4 Cup glue | 1/8 C water | 1 Tablespoon cornstarch . I also noticed individuals using baby powder or talcum powder for their binder where I use the plaster of paris. These would likely result in a smoother product as the plaster of paris does produce "lumps" which is why I also lightly sand my layer of gesso :-) - - I just made a new batch but think I will try the cornstarch in my next batch! Hope this helps!
The texture paste will hardened after awhile but a bit of water will reconstitute. The glue and water last a very long time. The gesso will harden if left for a long time; I actual prefer cornstarch to the plaster of Paris!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I love the idea of using the butter containers too.
Thank you, my pleasure to share!
Thank you!
You are quite welcome….you can color the texture paste with acrylic paint too!
I have been using joint compound. A little more expensive, but not much. It dries quickly and sands well.🙏🖖🤭

Great recipes and pricing. Thank you for putting this up.
Glad it was helpful, I love making my own supplies!

Mine has never molded…it lasts for several months but does start to harden. If it gets to solid, I thin with paint or water

@@susananderson8428 thank you!! I’m working on a project now with the texture paste!
Can you make clear gesso if you leave out the paint?

What type of “paint” do you use in the gesso recipe? Water base? Just from hardware store?
Yes, water base. I use a flat white acrylic from the hardware store or Walmart.
Thank you for your response.
How long do they last? Do they go bad?
