  • BJJ Half-Guard Escape into Triangle: in jiu-jitsu, a bigger partner can exert a ton of pressure from the top of half-guard. Learning to efficiently off-balance someone from the BOTTOM position can set up your underhook, which gives you both more space to work and better control of your partner.
In PART TWO of "Escaping the Half-Guard", we use the underhook to clear the pin and manage the distance. Once we can gain the advantage of head height, we have access to one of our favorite submissions from here - the triangle (sankaku). This series works well with partners of any size, but can be adapted particularly well to larger partners looking to pressure forward into us.

HIza guruma makes so much sense here. You're a genius.

Just commented on part 3. Maybe it's the hand being high that helps prevent being Darced? 🤔🤙

This is great!! Thank you! quick question:
    - Do you prefer to post on the calf with the outside leg v.s. hooking & turning out their leg with the outside hook?
    - Would it be feasible to go for a headlock from the hiza guruma if their head is below your armpit, or would the whizzer mess up the mobility?
    Many thanks!

Thanks. We usually use the kosoto hook to offset balance, as you would to sweep or double leg. Posting on the calf holds them in place while you bridge.
And if their head drops below yours, you can switch off to shoulder crunch 👊🏼
