Amazing degree of damage in your area. Some were spared, others virtually destroyed! Your video takes it all in. Thanks again Capt. Tom for another professional tour.
Love the Regal 260 XO. Best of both worlds with a cabin and an outboard. Been going to Fort Myers Beach for past decade during winter and even stayed in Cape Coral one time. A new subscriber and love watching your journey's.
Thanks for showing what the waterways look like after Hurricane Milton. Poor Matlacha was hit by a tornado right at the bridge I believe. Your boat just glides across the water.
Happy to see y’all’s area fared better than what was forecasted. Now you have to watch for all the new tree trunks that went back into the , ICW , bay, lagoon,as you approach those islands. We found that out today going to the spoil islands. Sandbars moved , depth in the Sebastian River has changed quite a bit in places. It was a great day to get back on the water, but very sad to see the amount of destruction on your coast as well as ours. Thanks for sharing!
Great video. I live in Texas now but I grew up in Fort Myers and Cape Coral back in the 80's and 90's. Always good to see videos from that area. Stay safe.
We did a delivery of a 62ft yacht from Norfolk, VA to Sarasota, FL back in January. Had a hard time finding a dock in the Fort Myers area but ended up at the Pink Shell on Fort Myers beach. Glad to see that it survived, thanks for the video...
From Kuwait, we share with the United States of America our condolences and sincere sympathy for the government and the friendly American people, as well as for the families of the victims, due to Hurricane Milton that swept through the state of Florida, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.

Thank you for taking us on this wonderful tour I'm way up in Minnesota so we just don't get to see fuse like this the news just doesn't cover it it's so nice that people like you take your time and make videos and then post them on UA-cam and then people get to see really the damage that hurricanes do we knew it's bad but don't know how bad because most of them we don't get to see this stuff really appreciate you doing a tour for us glad you made it through the storm okay.
I so enjoyed this video ! My heart goes out to each boat owner and business on one side as making a living and trying to make ends meet ! I also pray for the individual people and families that are so gravely hit with more than some can take ! May your channel grow as I have been bought into the area by video and concern all though I live right on the water in Stamford Ct. God Bless .
Thank you for the wonderful tour and preview of all of my basic coastal points of interest that I like boating to and around! I'd be curious to see how more points further north along the ICW were affected as well, like The Green Flash on Captiva, Barnacles on North Captiva Island, Cabbage Key, the The Boca Grande Marina area including Eagle Grill, and Cayo Costa. All regular spots for us. Maybe you can do a northern tour next time out. I'm back in the barn at Hinckley Sweetwater now, and I'll probably stick to staying upriver for now and stick with Boathouse 31 and The Launch in Labelle for a while. Upriver boating in glass is actually quite charming and is all very deep, however, it is not nearly as fun and interesting navigationally. Boating brackish rather than salt is also easier on the boat and makes it easier to clean. Thanks for the video, my man. If you've never been, you should try to take a ride out to The Launch for lunch sometime. It's a great spot with great food! If you ever choose to do so, let me know, and we'll meet you there!
My cousin lives right in your area ! He is the owner of big tiki FMB ! A father if two and a beautiful family . His name is Captain Jon Cassidy ! He stayed at the house but his family went to friends for safety of them ! He saved is boat s at 3:00am as the tide was going out ! Always great to know people that are living the life in your tight community ! Thanks for the great video ! Subscribed now and will follow your channel along with Dave Lockwood . I just saw as I was texting this you showed his boat coming out of the channel ! How wild is this ! Best of luck in all your recovery ! God Bless !
Excellent video..gives us peons a look at how your world is. Of course I'm jealous. If only I hadn't aged out, I would be down there, hurricanes or not. I was surprised that your neighborhood canals had zero activity. I mean nobody was doing what you're doing, cruising and checking things out. I know you did the same after Ian and that was definitely worse. So glad y'all did well this time. @12:00 really liked the gentle throttle-up to git goin'; boat sounds and looks great. Thanks for this post hurricane cruise.
Thanks so much for the great overview!! Very helpful…good to see less damage than Ian. Our place off of Pelican in the Yacht Club area faired well this time. Really appreciate your great videos and commentary 👍🏽
Captain, thanks again for your update. I followed you on my Navionic charts. I guess retiring in the Pacific NW, I have earthquakes and wildfire but not that type of destruction. You were prepared but many not so much. Continued good travels.
Beautiful area Captain Tom. Really good to see minimal damage done to the area. Show us more of the footage of the Tiki Pub Fort Myers barge that you worked briefly for. Lol.
Thanks for the video. Love Venture Out. Sad the screech owls aren’t there anymore. One died after Ian. I think the other left after it lost its partner. 😭
Good video. Damage wasn't as bad as Ian, but we cant survive a succession of Ians and Miltons (specially the barrier islands) (@22:20 the bayside of Bowditch Point was all clean and ready to go before Milton)
Well, i am scared to move to FLorida now!! I actually live in Switzerland 🇨🇭 but my mom lives in Sarasota. I don’t know if it’s a good idea to move hahaha. Sarasota is devastated. I like your video showing us how it is after the hurricane. And i love seeing your dog so happy boating with you. But he looks so happy haha. I am glad that you and your family are safe. I was visiting my mom when Ian came, was terrible!! Regards from Switzerland..🇨🇭
I had in-laws on a canal in Punta Gorda. Spent a lot of time boating. I really do not understand the attraction to living in Florida. Even watching your video makes me NOT miss it at all. Besides hurricanes, tornadoes, horrible heat and humidity, alligators, snakes, red ants, and high prices, there is nothing in FL that sounds great. Good luck and glad you are ok. Love your dog...I have an Aussie too.
I wondered how those islands fared, haven’t been out since before Ian. I’m really amazed picnic island lagoon survived. The Monroe Canal Marina is where I usually put in at. It’s a small ramp, but the folks there are pretty nice.
The mangroves got torn up pretty bad from Ian. They are coming back but as mentioned by the captain here they are slow growers. Due to wind direction the lee sides of islands fared better. You can still see debris several yards back in places where the surge carried it. I noticed the mangroves seem to regrow from the top down, so you’ll see lots of dead wood at the base but the tops have green leaves again.
My neighbors in Massachusetts lost their Florida condo in Hurricane Ian of September 2022. It is still not rebuilt as of October 2024. You can imagine every contractor and carpenter under enormous pressure to get the jobs done. It must be very chaotic now with Milton and Helene.
Won’t more mangroves instead of building help with the hurricanes. I don’t know 🤷♀️ just my idea. Thanks for the update and glad you guys made out ok !! Just rain up here in Jax.
That first pool enclosure would probably have survived if it had guy wires. I thought all the new enclosures were supposed to have those. The house on the corner into Cape Harbour was up for sale last time I went past it. Shame about his new enclosure. I want to check out the massive house just up the spreader from the lock - his new enclosure must have cost $300k, maybe more, so hopefully that was money well spent!
The first one got pushed in. That needs a brace inside. The house for sale sold for 7million I heard. I haven’t seen the big house through lock yet. That’s supposed to be the most expensive house in the Cape. Rumored to be owned by the guy who invented the super soaker. Lol
What was the popular seafood restaurant from back in the day, the one under the bridge? You could bring your catch for the day and they would prep and cook it for you. Hope they’re doing ok.

Thank you for posting this video!! Whenever I see aftermath videos of houses that cost in the neighborhood of 1 Million dollars, It's always funny seeing the stuff that could have been done to better protect damage, and damage to your neighbors property from flying debris.. Bimini Top on boat -- Homeowner Couldn't be bothered?, Want's a new one anyway? If the owner is up north and couldn't come down, couldn't they call someone to secure their crap? Of course they could!! We all know the demographic that lives there. Of course, they will not be asking for Federal or State relief.
Florida weather and flooding is going to get worse, so all Florida residents need to build homes that can withstand cat 8 hurricanes and be elevated at least 30 feet high.

This is so interesting for this Arizonan! Thank you. Very tough to see the marine damage...and the (seemingly) abandoned derelicts from previous storms. Unsure why the sunken wrecks haven't been towed away? Seems like a no-brainer to do that. And now that we know that the bad actors doing geo-engineering (weather modification) are responsible for this and other damaging weather phenomena, a close look at 'next steps' sure is in order. Best wishes to all those affected.
