In 2012 we had a big family spring break in Panama City Beach. Dad and i were taking a walk on the beach one beautiful morning when we stopped and talked to vendor setting up his umbrellas and chairs and jet skis. The talk turned to storms and he said he feared that this would happen. He pointed to the Gulf and said that it's temp was rising every year "and that's fuel for a storm". Lately it seems Florida is in a constant state of rebuilding.
The Gulf of Mexico is really warm and will only increase over the next few years. Coastal living will probably not have any (flood/home) insurance available in the future in FL...
I have lived here all my life and have never see the sad pretty much bury a whole house. I've seen it get deep but that is, just WOW. I'm speechless to all the devastation that these hurricanes & tornadoes caused this time around.
Have to remember the oceans are warm not cold anymore. Global warming has the amount of ocean water has risen. The Amazon and African equator rainforests are gone. All that moisture has no where to go. With erosion, high water levels and warm water is a combo for this unheard of disaster. The rainforests would hold tons of water before the breezes left Africa and a hurricane would not have so much force. Man has ruined the ecology of the planet. It’s so sad to see this. Best solution move West or North. Florida is sinking fast. I’m glad❤ u are ok. Take care love❤

????? How many times in a persons life can you experience catastrophic events like this - only to keep building & rebuilding, and have a happy&meaningful life ????? Personally you couldn't get me to live there in Florida FREE !!!!!
It’s really difficult to be sympathetic to people with the level of stupidity that leads them to build in areas like this that YOU KNOW are in the middle of a wide region prone to multiple, serious, predictable, annual hurricanes. Declarations of resilience and the intent to rebuild just compound and further illustrate the complete and utter cognitive dissonance.
I lived in Florida for over 30 years. It is so heartbreaking to see all this damage. Doesn't matter if it's stupid to build right on the beach...it's still really sad to see paradise in pieces and knowing all these people lost their homes and possessions. So very sad...I feel tremendous empathy, sympathy and compassion for everyone affected. Florida is no longer a safe place for anyone to live with the new norm of storms that are regularly hitting the entire state.
I live on the east coast and when I first moved there I figured a boat would be nice to have. But after the first hurricane and what I had to do to secure the boat, I sold it soon after. Too much of a headache.
My condolences to those affected and displaced from this storm. They permit and build these fragile structures on the coast lines and eventually we "ALL" pay the price!

What do you expect that these homes were going to withstand these hurricanes built like that??? Unbelievable!!!
Just mother nature taking what she already has , Barrier Islands are just that , thanks for the good drone captain.
Some location tags would be helpful so we know where we are looking at. I was living in Punta Gorda back in '04 when Charlie hit {Cat 4} and most all of the landmarks were lost. It was like living in Hiroshima minus the radiation.
The new normal. I guess a lot got their wish of wanting to live right on the beach. I could never understand people wanting to live in a mobile home right in a hurricane or tornado zone.
in uk we would not get any insurance for homes in a high risk area like this 😢 and unless you have money to rebuild you would have to move, unfortunately this devastation will continue to happen, i would have to move as loosing all my thing's over and over again would not be worth staying
Oh my goodness 😢 I can't believe it 😭
My thoughts are with everyone affected by this. Our home flooded after a cyclone in Far North Queensland Australia last year. We had days of torrential rain after the cyclone made landfall and the waterways just couldn't cope. But this is something else. I really feel for you all. 😢
So isn't this the same place that was destroyed by a hurricane two years ago?
Yes it is, that's not Venice and that's not from Milton!
Wow wow I feel so sorry for those people and worst thing I can't help them nothing that I can do to help all I have to do keep paying for them. Believe that God will give them the strength to endure all of that it is God's doing. From Jamaica 🇯🇲.
Religion was born when the first con man met the first sucker.
Man, these homes are packed in like sardines...why would anyone want to live like that? And lets not forget...on hurricane alley???? Is it truly worth it??
Idk why but seeing all the boats smashed up hurts my soul the most
The volume of sand is mind blowing.
Why do the flood waters look red?
@@sandydiller4828 it's the fresh water mixing with salt water
So very sad. Great capture from the drone. What kind of drone do you use?
You must be very young that you never heard of Storm Surge living in Florida your whole life. Have you ever heard of Hurricanes as well.
War
@@chodkowski01 I'm 53. I've just not seen it swallow an entire house like the one in the video. I have seen it inside garages and cover porches even a foot or two blocking the front door. Just not like this. 😳
@@V.Oakley guys research billhates hurricane control and the patents he owns! 🤔🧐
This makes me never ever want to live close to oceans, beaches, or rivers. I don't like water and sand this much
You're right, people shouldnt build next to rivers. I dont understand why they insist on it? If they do it should be wharf type buildings on poles, of a shape that wind and water flows around. We dont make rectangular planes or ships for a reason.
@anjilala this is why insurance keep going up and insurance companies want out of Florida
after spending most of my working days as a cat adjuster, these images are truly saddening.
after working Katrina, Hugo and others we can honestly say this is definitely on par with the worst I've seen .
Governor De Santis says it could have been worse. Looking at the absolute destruction I am not sure what he meant? Compared to Helene the death toll was much less. People took the evacuation mandate seriously. Is mother nature telling us some thing?
My house has been through many Florida storms but then I live 10 miles from the ocean and it’s on a higher elevation not in a flood zone and the house is kept up with the latest building codes.
@@blessingjohnchelliah4317not all Florida looks like this. Just where storm surge hits.
@@chodkowski01 Insurance companies could still raise your insurance, in order to offset the the compensation they have to pay out in claims.
@@blessingjohnchelliah4317he meant it could have been worse with the possibility it went north of Tampa and flooded Tampa bay instead of the less populated areas to the south like englewood.
Great video, thanks.
So, the rest of us are supposed to chip in and rebuild your house on the sand bar? You live on sand...you took your chances.
Insurance companies should wake up. Pay out these claims but put a clause in the settlement that if the person rebuilds there, they will no longer insure them.
I’d be thinking…..time to move out of Harms Way….Great video work….A+
Yesterday I watched an interview with a woman who lived on Sanibel Island. I remember seeing the utter devastation there after Ian so I got onto Google Earth to see what it's like now and it's pretty much wall to wall houses. These problems will persist until people accept the new reality...
The rush to move to Florida boom is over!!

Bir musluman evladi olarak rahmetliyiz isanlara saygiliyiz amarkan halkina gecmis olsun allah islah etsin
A long time ago a really famous guy cautioned us about building on sand. His words are still true.
Interesting grid pattern in that water.
Praying for all those babies, children families, disabled, elderly and the homeless, for those who have lost family members, and their animals,
You can thank Florida’s sense of “freedom” and lack of regulations concerning building these houses on Hurricane-magnet coastline. Hope everybody appreciates Florida’s sense of “freedom” when their insurance rates go up another 100%.
I was wondering if it out of State builders?
Deregulation may save you a few bucks until you are hit with a catastrophe like this. Trump dismantled the Global Response Team that had been set up by Obama, just to save a few dollars, until he was left scrambling when Covid 19 arrived.
Tell me where you live…because I bet your state has its own dangers and threats…you punk! How dare you try to shame these people that have lost their homes while you play keyboard cowboy from the comfort of your own home.
True, but if they don't change their zoning laws, eventually insurance companies will flee the state, I believe some already have
Very sorry for the people. I'll stay in Canada thanks very much!
Nature prevails over man again.
Stop building on every inch of florida and no building right by water on what is only a sandbar.
Are the opening shots Pointe Park, Englewood FL?
OMG!!! SUCH DEVISTATION!!! OMG!!!
Really?? Really??? It was supposed to be a category 5 and weakened to a category 3 so wasn’t really bad as expected. If you don’t like it, move somewhere else where hurricanes 🌀 don’t happen
Just think of all the hazardous materials that are all over the place
Im in Port Charlotte, 3 different times I walks out to see the trees takinga beating, powerful winds. around midnight or so ,the eyewall was in full force, I stepped out to witness it . Its like nothing Ive ever heard of felt. I was protected from my bedroom wall with the direction of the wind but could step out momentarily, at one point I was hugging the concrete post and thinkin ......maybe Im being stupid. But, it was an experience like none other. I feel sad for communities that lost so much.
@3:33...my heart skipped a beat...😱😱😱
That’s the risk you take for building on the beach
Stupidity is right
And yet they never learn they continue to build and live on the oceans edge at sea level.
And keep expecting government bailouts.
You sound like a real bundle of joy. I’m glad I don’t live next to you.
Build on sandbar, the insurance pays out whatever, my insurance goes up and I’m no where near the ocean
I live on the east coast and when I first moved there I figured a boat would be nice to have. But after the first hurricane and what I had to do to secure the boat, I sold it soon after. Too much of a headache.
Insurance should not cover any cars or boats owners all had notice of this storm coming leaving boats in harm's way is not an accident.
Where to go when storm covered 70% of state?
My condolences to those affected and displaced from this storm. They permit and build these fragile structures on the coast lines and eventually we "ALL" pay the price!
What if this is actually normal weather for Florida, and the century long goldilocks period was actually the anomaly? :/
True
Can you imagine if this happened every year?
@@michaelswann4318this has been happening every year since 2017 in Florida. Irma 2017, Michael 2018, Dorian 2019, Sally 2020, Elsa 2021, Ian 2022, Idalia 2023, Helene & Milton 2024. Florida keeps rebuilding using FEMA money and then getting destroyed and wondering why insurers are leaving and FEMA is broke (as they also voted for lower government spending on FEMA).
Hurricane Andrew in 92. There are periods of less destruction and some years with more.
More forward thinking and rewilding is needed with rebuilding. Our idea of the perfect view needs to change. I would love to see cities invest in helping minimize this destruction in the future. My heart goes out to everyone affected.
