Me, too. Plus I put the cob in the freezer, husks and all, no wrap or baggies needed. They are pre-wrapped ❤
If done right in the microwave, the silk comes off very easily.
Even corn silk has a purpose and yes, I've tried it. Simmer in a bit of water as a home remedy for migraines. Add a pinch of powdered ginger for good measure.

Processing and freezing corn. Music to my country ears. Love off the cobb, creamed corn, fried corn. So, oh, So delicious. Shuckin’ corn sittin’ on the porch. Always went with mama, Granny, Papa to the open fields. Yes, cropped, back home with, yes, 25-30 dozen ears of corn. Process, eat some and freeze. Always had the cream of the crop, all food. I never thought we were poor, I thought we were rich and we were, God gave us all we ever needed. Good memories, love in hard work. Didn’t have a sealer those days. A meal of corn on the cobb, watermelon dessert. That’s right, final scrape. We froze it. Can’t borrow trouble about freezing corn. Can tomatoes, beans and peas, okry, green beans. Born and raised Florida, all my life. Mustard, collards, turnip roots - froze. Delicious, I can taste it. Buttery yes. Just right-no sugar, pure corn taste. Yummmmnn Fresh Corn. Praise God Shuck it, silk it. Roast on a grill in the shuck. Thank you♥️✝️♥️ Loving memories.

To help and save time shucking corn cut the end of the corn that attaches to the stalk off. Then grab the top with the silks and pull the silks and husk off together. This will result in a near clean if not clean ear of corn. Hope this helps.

❤❤❤❤❤Thank you Melissa, I was going to ask about the holder of the bag. You read my mind.
My daughter had a musician from Germany come to the Carolina Mountains.
After his concert we where able to meet and of course my daughter volunteer me to make breakfast the following day.
I asked him "what would you like to have for breakfast.?"
    He said "German Pancackes" 😮
    I said ok.
I was born in Mexico "Guadalajara" and from eggs, tortillas and beans, I didn't know what was "German Pancakes".
I didn't wanted to make a full of myself so I said "OK you got it"
I know what you are going to say but he mentioned not to forget the CORN. I said no worries.
So, I made the regular pancake mix BUT I added fresh corn. I blended all and cooked them like regular pancakes and he was so happy.
He said the last time he had them were made by his mom. Rest in peace 10 years ago.
He gave me a big hug. I was happy for him.
He only put on top fresh blueberries, strawberries and powder sugar.
Tom and Melissa, try them ok.
    Delicious❤❤❤❤

One of our favourite things to do with corn is Cajun rice. Fry diced onion, celery, garlic and green bell pepper in plenty of butter till soft, add cold cooked rice, and canned or frozen corn, and a diced tomato. Sprinkle over cajun seasoning, or make your own seasoning mix by adding half a teaspoon each of sweet paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme and black pepper. Fry for a further ten mins, adding a little water if it starts to dry out. Wonderful with fried chicken or fried fish

Thank you both… Have a blessed weekend. ❤ Scraping the cob gives you more of a cream style. I usually make two cuts then scrape the cob. I usually make a shallow cut, just cut the tips off then make a deeper cut then scrape the cob. Your way is easier. I totally enjoy this type of video. I haven't had a can of corn my whole life and I'm 75 years old. I was born in N.C. having the luxury of food from my parents huge garden, corn always my favorite. Putting up corn is a given once the supply rises in the summer, but always Silver Queen white corn, yellow if making fried corn. My grandmother always split the row of kernels and cut around the cob twice before scraping the cob. Scrape using the dull side of the knife to get the milk out. When making fried corn first we cube fat back and fry that. When it's rendered enough fat put in chopped oions and then the corn. Salting is never used until the end of cooking. Then salt and pepper. I store mine the same way - stacked flat. My two sisters never put up corn.

This reminds me of a family favorite - scalloped corn. I think you’d love it too! After you melt butter in pan, add and cook bacon, maybe 4-6 slices chopped up. Add 1/2-1 onion, diced. Cook until onion is soft and bacon is crispy. Drain off grease. Add corn. I think a bag of your corn would be perfect. Stir and cook until corn is soft and done. Add some milk or half and half to mixture. Cook until heated through and mixture has cooked down some. Enjoy your scalloped corn. Can be made all year using frozen corn too. Best with fresh corn that you have bagged. My mother in law taught me how to make this over 40 years ago. Give it a try!

Growing up to get the silk out, we always used a knife and a new toothbrush. But we tipped the corn differently. We would barely tip it from the top to the bottom in a big pot. Do that twice, then we would scrape the cob, that’s how to get the starch out. Then add a little bit of water to the pot and then let it cook down. Once the corn is cooked down, turn it off and let it cool and then put it into the ziplock bags, then freeze. This is also known as cream corn.

This brings back so many great memories! I remember helping my Mamaw cutting corn. We made cream corn with ours. Mamaw would sit in the chair with a large sharpened butcher knife & a large empty bowl in her lap. Then, with the small end of the ear facing away from her, she would cut small pieces of the corn with each slice up. She would usually get about 2-3 cuts per each lengthwise area. After getting all the kernels cut off she would scrape the cob with her knife & get all the juice. That was our cream corn. So delicious 😋. Thank you both so much!!

I do mine in the dishwasher! Have for years! Shuck & clean most of silks off lay in dishwasher cross crossing so they all get cleaned & blanched well. Run through short wash or sani rinse. It cuts 1 whole step out! You take directly out of dishwasher & cut it off or just bag it up on ears. So way much easier!! I go ahead and heat mine & add sugar, butter, salt. Don’t add pepper till I get it ready to heat n eat. Try it guys! I promise you won’t be disappointed you did!! I also use my mandolin to cut it off cob with. I can do a bushel of corn in less than an hour start to finish!! ✝️♥️✝️

I enjoyed learning about working up the corn! I may go to the farmers' market this weekend & get some corn to freeze. May even try an experiment to see if I can make the corn OFF the cob taste like Mexican Street corn. 😊
Thanks for another fun (& educational for this 3rd generation Southern California girl) video Melissa & Tom!

I'd love to see a video on canning. I've had a minimal exposure to the process, but I could sure use some additional teaching on the subject. Thanks, again for your time and efforts to share your knowledge with us.

We actually had corn on the cob yesterday for our 4th of July cook out. Had two ears uncooked that I saved for today which we had fried corn for lunch--so yummy. We put corn in the freezer also but this farm gal does it differently. Anyway it is done it tastes great in the winter. I grew up doing Silver Queen but now we also grow Peaches and Cream type. I bet your grandmother did her fried corn in a cast iron skillet.

Shuck it, de-slik it, then cut of the cob. We steam ours in large pot w/a bit of water then add a bit of butter while it cools. Finally bag it for the freezer like you do. We get ours at the weekly Farmer's Market and put up a few dozen a week during the Corn Season: like you we need far less now (in our 80s) than when the kids were home.

I love fresh corn now. As a kid, I only wanted canned corn (from the store). Didn't want it frozen and didn't want corn on the cob. I grew up and learned better. The only reluctance I have to the microwave shucking method is that I can recall more than a few times we'd get corn from a farmer that had worms/caterpillars that we didn't discover until we shucked them. Then we'd just cut away the worms and the bad part and use the good part. I'd hate to discover that post-microwave. I buy most of my fresh corn on the cob from the local grocer these days, so worms aren't really a concern, so I use the microwave method. Great video.

Thank you so much for the kind words about the video. We really appreciate that you are watching our channel. I totally get the worm in the microwave concern. We've only prepared the corn this way one time. Tuesday night. It was delicious but a worm in it might alter my opinion, too! 😢

I wanted to share this with you, my mother cut more corn off the cob than you can imagine and cook the best fried corn too. She never cut corn sd deep as you but first slice down then took her knife and turn the blade at an angle came back down and got the corn milk it makes it creamier. 😊

Loved watching how you pack corn for freezing mostly like I process it! The only thing I do different is in the blanching. We were taught to put blanched corn in ice water to stop the cooking immediately after the 3 minutes of boiling.
    Enjoy your recipes❤

Very nice and a good way to get canned corn and up the flavor a bunch! As it is just my wife and I now, we just microwave our corn like you said. Years ago, we had friends that had what they called sugar corn and we loved it. Don’t know where we would get that now but it was the best we’d ever had. Now we just get about 4 ears at a time from Walmart and nuke it. I enjoyed your corn processing video and might try the fried corn, it looked delicious with the sprinkling of sugar though I have to be careful of added sugar. It looked worth the splurge. Keep up the good cooking suggestions and recipes. I enjoy your channel.

Love the video, i laughed because even with me in a wheelchair because of a severe work-related injury(nursing) I My hubby went to farm market last Saturday. I worked up a dozen ears of corn, I always do creamed corn since it is my favorite. I also froze half a bushel of half runners. yeah it was lots of work but like you I will have good food when the snow flies. He went back and got me some as we call it, garden supper food. We had tomatoes, corn on the cob, cucumbers and I save enough green beans out to cook a small pot. no meat needed other than the little pieces of ham in the beans. (little chunks from the Christmas ham). I love to watch you guys, I miss my Kentucky family but only 30 miles from the Ohio river. over the bridge and into West Virginia. I never had seen a corn brush but i will have one in the next week. I also will find the bag holder. Thanks.

My grandmother canned a lot- her bread and butter pickles were divine. But she always froze corn, peaches and strawberries. I can remember going on vacation to Ocean City and picking up bushels of Eastern Shore corn to process- my grandparents would rent a house with a big freezer down there, and bring back big coolers of frozen corn and flounder. And nothing really beat vanilla ice cream with freshly thawed peaches in the middle of winter, after a meal of the flounder and corn. Eastern shore summer in the winter.
