I wish all of you had the chance to experience all the genre from the 70's and early 80's. Yes, this time was hands down the very best America had to offer to the world!
Yes , those were the days. Growing up in the 60s and 70s was amazing. These newer generations have no idea what got to experience. Music was growing rapidly. And some of the most amazing bands came out. Boston, Rainbow, Judas Priest, Scorpions, 38 Special, Black Sabbath. Way more. Man I miss those days. No woke stuff
@@itsmira-j yes just stopped performing because of a muscular disease. He is now 74, and still sexy to me. We're both just older. Yes I like his voice and charisma. Basically all of his music. Watch baby 3 love your way live at a concert, you'll see women and girls drooling over him it is a sweet love song.
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. It becomes even more amazing when you realize the guitarist recorded this entire album in his basement. Tom Scholz played acoustic guitar, 12 string acoustic guitar, electric lead guitar, electric rhythm guitar, electric bass and organ. Brad Delp sang lead vocals, backup vocals, harmonies and layered his own voice. Sib played drums. You hear basically three people on this recording. The people you see playing were hired after the album was mostly recorded and taught how to play it live. They are amazing musicians. But the debut album is really Tom, Brad and Sib with tiny pieces here and there of others. The next song on the album is 'Piece of Mind' then 'Foreplay/Longtime'. This song was the first song we all heard from them. It was their debut song on their debut album. It is worth listening to this album front start to finish. There is not a bad song on it, some are legendary like 'More than a feeling' all are great. Keep sharing what you love to do and you will never work a day in your life. :)
@chrisbricky7331 You left off Clavinet . Tom plays a Hohner clavinet on several songs on this record most notably on Foreplay. This entire record was not recorded in Toms basement studio. The entire song Let Me Take You Home which was written by Brad was recorded by the band as pictured on the back of the record at The Record Plant LA. All of Brads vocals for the remaining songs were were recorded by Boylan at Capital Studios Studio C. As documented in the liner notes of every copy of this record that has been sold, Sib plays drums on all songs on this record except for one and Jim Masdea plays drums on that song. Barry plays electric rhythm guitar on Foreplay, Long Time and Let Me Take You Home. Barry plays all lead guitar solos on Long Time as well as the huge power chords. Barry plays lead and slide guitar on Let Me Take You Home. Fran plays bass on Foreplay (the entire band as pictured on the back of the record plays on Foreplay) and Let Me Take You Home and Brad plays acoustic guitar on Let Me Take You Home. In the post litigation liner notes of the Scholz (Toms pet project) 2006 remaster of the debut Boston record spell this out in more precise detail. Albeit 30 years late, it was great to see Tom finally give Brad and to a lesser extent Jim Masdea credit for all of the arrangement work they did on the songs as we hear them on the record. Tom had more help in refining these songs that he likes to let on, and so Tom finally deciding to give Brad credit where credit was most certainly due was nice to see.
You know, I've never heard anyone say a bad word about this song. No matter who you are, it just invites you in with a big friendly smile, and it's glorious. Brad Delp was the lead singer. Astonishing voice. Sadly, he suffered from depression, and in 2007 he took his own life. Such a loss. Another thing: everyone who knew him said he was a great person: friendly, kind, gentle, down to earth, a regular guy and a great neighbor (for example, he helped people mow their lawns). When he died, the band's website said "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."
Been listening to this since it's release and I never tire of hearing it and his incredible voice. Yes, it's captivating, good description. Brad's vocals are interplanetary, pretty sure he can be heard in space. This is one Iconic classic some of us will never forget. ☮️to all.
I saw Boston at the indoor Oakland Auditorium in May of 1979. The band was promoting their 2nd album 'Don't Look Back. Great show. I remember the Pipe organs pipes nearly reached the ceiling. I remember drummer Sib Hashian having a hi-hat on both sides of his kick drum!! I remember seeing the back of bassist Fran Sheehan nearly the entire concert. The band was outstanding. Most of all I remember being Gob smacked with Lead vocalists Brad Delp. I've seen nearly every Top Tier band and Vocalist from the 1960's through the 1980's. The only 2 singer I would say matched Mr. Delps live voice was the brilliant Roy Orbison and the indominable Freddie Mercury. That's great company. I would suggest "Smokin'" as a possible follow up Boston reaction. Take care Mira-J, RNB
@@0cosmic Being a teenager through most of the 1970's and living in the San Francisco Bay Area for concerts....was epic. All my friends (me included) had older brothers who drove and had their own cars. Somebody was always going to the next "Day on the Green'. We naturally tagged along. Tickets were usually available and relatively inexpensive. My first concert was George Harrison in late 1974. I was barely 15. Went with, you guessed it, my older brother and his girlfriend. The Oakland Coliseum and Oakland Auditorium were virtual Mecca's for the Greatest bands that ever were. I saw more artists than I will ever remember. It was a different and much simpler time my friend. Best wishes, RNB
Love this song so much! This is pure raw talent. No auto tune. You should check out Journey Don't Stop Believing in Houston 1981. They are another band just pure raw talent no Auto tune. Love your reaction!
I guess for time constraints my favorite verse of this song was left out and it goes " So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by, but i still recall as i wonder on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky." And of course, if you are old enough, you can certainly relate to all the cool people we once knew.
Great song, great band! Saw them at the Philly Spectrum back in June of 87. Although I’m a fan of bands improvising when live, I was amazed how similar they sounded to their studio recordings. On another note, I have a request for some older stuff…Treat Her Like a Lady by Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose (1971) and Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’ by Crazy Elephant (1969). ✌️
@@itsmira-j I'm really sorry to hear that. A couple of thoughts... Never let anyone tell you what you can enjoy. If it's not going to be popular, fair enough, don't post it but enjoy it for yourself either way. That said, it doesn't waste much disk space to record it and make the decision afterwards. Whether you do or not, I'm certainly enjoying the couple of your reactions I've found so far, so do what makes you comfortable. Good luck.
Not "lip-synced", but live video used to make a MTV video along with the studio recording minus a verse and chorus. Most music videos were to promote the album and studio recording, so that's what they contain. This was released in 1976 before MTV, so no "produced" video was made, so they took some concert footage.
No autotune. Just talent. Saw the tours for their first two albums.
You are lucky to see them live 🥹🥹
