Call me crazy, but are we sure these fine ladies are actually three different people? Kinda seems like it’s one actress saying “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet” and going on to play three roles in the same reaction, with the help of a great makeup/hair team. Anyway, doesn’t matter. Love them/her.

A couple of things about this one no one has pointed out (that I could see at least), and perhaps you did not realise, is that the very start of the song is like a fantasy space ship version of dialling a telephone number, and then the ringing sound as it is heard down the line (the band logo is often depicted as a spaceship). The lyrics also start and sound as if you are listening to someone on the telephone, for the first three lines up to, "That's what I'd say", before becoming more as you expect. This effect was deliberate. Another thing about phoning in those days was that you would be calling a phone line often shared by a household (or an office). Imagine calling and you are a man calling your girlfriend and her Father or Mother or brother answers, and you have to go through them to speak to her! And another issue with the mechanics of it in those days, is that wrong numbers were common, due to either dialling mistakes, or the telephone exchange misdirecting the call to a wrong number, because the technology was not 100% reliable. So if no one answered, there was no way of even being sure you dialled or were connected to the right number, so you would try again, possibly a few times, possibly many times, before giving up. So does he actually get through when he says "Hello"? Was he practising what he would say for the first half of the song and then says what he feels when the phone is not answered? It's a bit open to interpretation by the listener.

He is actually supposed to be a very humble nan. He just loves music. He just has swag. He was a sex symbol of the day but it embarrassed him. Kind of a small man. Has been playing professionally since he was 18. He was 25 here. Just inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame this year.
