  • Buy an ARRMA Infraction: bit.ly/ARRMA-In...
After experiencing short run times with the ARRMA Infraction and not fully know what was causing it, I took the time to do a test to see if I could replicate it again when I had a temp gun and LiPo checker available. I turned off the fans so that it would be as close to what I'd been experiencing and drove it how I have been. In about 3.5 minutes it happened and I was able to verify the ESC code and check the temps.
This video is not a critique of the RC, but rather to show how hot it will get if you stay on constant throttle and do too many burnouts which really tax the ESC.
This truck is my favorite on-road car I've driven and is currently one of my top 5 that I own. I want to pull it out all the time and run it. So you will be seeing a lot more of it. 😂

We experienced the same issue when we had our hands on a demo for our first run vid. Before we even ran it we noticed there was ZERO room under that body for natural air flow and were expecting it.
We were NOT expecting it to cut off as frequently as it did tho. We couldn't tell if it was the batteries or ESC since we didn't have a temp gun or battery checker that day.
Glad your actually trouble shooting it and showing the issue. We only had the demo for a few hours so your making my life much easier for when I get my own. Lol
    Cheers!

Yeah, I think we all saw the burnouts and smoking tires and were overdoing it. 😂 When I ease up and do more straight driving, it definitely changes the temps. It's a very capable car. Just like any...we just need to watch how we drive because it does affect motor temps. I never ran my Losi Ten-SCTE for longer then 5-6 minutes at high speeds. It was geared to race and would get hot bashing it for too long

Im just getting back into rc after almost 10 a year break. I was going to jump back in to traxxas cause that was all the rage back then. I saw people raving about arrma and then I saw this mamajamma lollol I've had it two months but still haven't run it, I immediately purchased a new radio/receiver, esc, motor and some ntf fans, I installed everything but the fans. Should be ripping up some hoons in about a week or so. Yours was one of the first infraction videos I saw and I was hooked on that resto-mod design!

Good informative video. My infraction overheat 2 times and my ESC died on the second thermal shut down. Now i cut airwends into the body 2 in the rear sides and the entire front grill and the sides of the front bumper. I'm about to put a Hobbywing max 6 in it and curious how it performs. Can't wait to test it out and see what temps i get with my airwends in the body.

  • @hotrodpieper9541

When rich and I were doing the demo run on the infraction we found that there is literally almost no air flow under that body. Also the heat of that motor is going to dissipate through the motor wires. If a vent was somehow implemented into that body so the fans were actually able to pull fresh air into the esc

Super informative video for a rookie like me and anyone else honestly. I think we have the same temp gun. 😂. I think that my Granite BLX also had a thermal shut down yesterday, but it was like 20 minutes after almost non stop full speed running on dirt and grass. I noticed that my ESC also had the flashing green light. It didn't shut down completely, but it slowed down. I was done by then anyways. Motor was at like 186 F. I'm assuming that's too high right? Probably will go down a few teeth in the pinion. However, I haven’t been having the issue as I just take it easier on it. I do some hard bashing and then back down for a bit. Just like my race trucks that I know I shouldn’t go hard with for more then 6-8 minutes. Even then I have to run it like it’s on a track and not just wide open all the time.

Great vid Tony, I agree it definitely heats it up more when you bash it the way you do especially compared to just doing a couple simple speeds. Speaking of speed runs, have you tried the included optional pinion? I watched the Amain Infraction vid earlier and they were using the included optional pinion and they managed to hit 80mph even with it. I know it's not for bashing but may be interesting to see just for a quick speed test vid to see what you can get out of her with that other pinion. I'd love to see your reaction of hitting like 70-75mph with that bad boy!🤘😎🤘

One more question ton, i was watching you bash the losi i too own 5t older one. i put 36cc and your might be faster its definitely running great i had mine running really fast with cheap tuned pipe and venturi on carb but too loud for the neighbors . plus i think leaving gas in carb messed up the diaphram try run it out if going sit the ethanol is horrible. How do you like the arrmas after playing with 5t vise versa i think both have there places litterly i always liked nitro gas better just came down to money places to play good nitro kit your over a g and been that way for 20 years actually more practical now but 5th scale once price came down was homerun for me compared to nitro

  • @ShenRC
    @ShenRC 5 років тому

That's not good and don't look right 189 deg on the motor way way to hot! I think the motor may have gone bad the rotor weakened from to much heat will then cause the esc to try and give it more amperage to make it work properly then your ESC will run much hotter? I think arrma may have set this truck up wrong out of the box with much to large of a pinion gear so when guy's like you kind of just bash around and drive it like a normal RC and not just a quick speed run I think people may be blowing there motors like I stated above... To be honest if anyone gets one of these I would drop a crap load of teeth down on the pinion gear size. just looks like a classic case of over gearing the RC and components start failing, If people start complaining about problems I bet arrma will be using a much smaller pinion gear in later releases of these new cars.

I think the second run showed that normal running had the temps right in the range you'd want. The burnouts are probably the biggest culprit in the temps. IMHO

@@CCxRC Yea but that was with 2 cooling fans in a big heat sink, It should run that cool without the heat sink fan on it. arrma should have had this RC set up with a much smaller pinion gear so they don't run into these heat problems. 👍 Definitely put a smaller pinion gear on it man.

this is why Hobbywing is garbage, when you have a thermal shutdown, the esc will not reset, and it's done. I have not had this issue with any castle esc (XL or XLX2). I Did swell up my 9000 batteries with the spektrum 8s, but no shutdown.
