It's nice to hear the impressions from a rider of his caliber.
Neat Guy for sure with lots of experience under his belt! A traditionalist when it comes to motorcycling and he was impressed, as most are when they first take it for a ride.
I purchased the 2022 model last year with only 1224 miles on the clock, and I love this machine! After not riding for 44 years and finally getting my kids through college and on their own, I’m back in the saddle again!! No friction zones and shift timing to worry about, just situational awareness and enjoy the ride! Awesome review, thanks! 👏👍
Best review so far. You spoke about the manual option when most don't know or understand how it works. I have a Honda CTX650 DCT and looking to "upgrade" to the Rebel CMX 1100. The transmission is smooth as silk, using the paddle shifter when I want - it just doesn't get much better. And starting off at a stop - I just smoke my husband's HD Street Glide since the computer shifting is faster than a human hand. What you missed is the handling on this bike. The lean on it is sweet and since I ride mostly twisty and sweeps (yep, I ride in Santa Cruz Mountains, CA) it will handle beautifully. Of course, riding in sports mode is the best at handling those roads too!
Sweet real world reply, thank you! I (kyle) grew up in Fremont so my favorite ride is down the 17 up over into Santa Cruise. Get a chowder at the pier then head up Hwy 1 and then cross over Higwhay 9 or 35... and across a bridge back home. Miss those costal rides!
I bought my Honda Rebel DCT 1 month ago and I love it.
That's what we love to hear!
Does the bike has vibrations?
Nope. Super Smooth!
@@Andrea-go4ly No not mine.
I'm actually in the process of getting a Honda Rebel 500, but after seeing videos about the DCT I'm actually considering weather or not I should opt for the 1100 just for that. I mean i like how the DCT will shift in lower RPMs when in city conditions and the like to avoid any kind of jerkiness and it helps new riders avoid accidental "newbie" stuff when it comes to shifting such as having to shift up or down while in a curve. BUT when on the highways and at higher speeds it will shift in higher RPMs to allow the bike to speed up faster and be more what you would expect and need in highway conditions. Plus it helps new riders to concentrate on simply driving safely and not having to worry about the clutch or shifting, which is always a good thing. I think that a new rider might be better off learning on something like this and then once they feel comfortable on a bike they could then go to riding one and shifting it on their own. This thing with its DCT AND ABS, id say takes about 60% of the worry that new riders have about riding a bike out of the equation.
Go with the 1100 and don't look back!
If you get the 1100 I'd consider a course on a crash-bar equipped bike first.
Had the 300 and 500 nice bikes, but the 1100 dct does it all. I ❤ it. Just 100lb more though, but no big deal unless you are in even dirt road is bit harder to push around.
Wife just got one. We both rode it and I have to say it is pretty awesome. She loves it. I highly suggest it especially if you live in high traffic areas.
Right on! No more sore cramping clutch hand!
Girlfriend is a first time rider , and absolutely LOVES hers. Wish I'd gotten one. Maybe next bike ;-)
Right on! Since this date I have ridden it three times... and I love it more and more each time. I owned the initial DCT in the Africa Twin years ago and this new revision of the DCT trans is SO MUCH BETTER! It's the 11th version I believe... and it is noticeably different.
Great review, answered all the questions I had about the rebel 1100, thank you!!
Across the pond we also get the NT1100, a pretty decent tourer that sits nicely between the Goldwing and the NC750.
I bought the first one that came into central Florida (I got the red one) and I love it. I swapped out the muffler for a Two brothers Racing and a few other mods, like handlebar raisers and headlight cowling, and saddlebag. And I ride that thing almost every day.
I have the User Mode dialed in for the way I ride and it's really nice.
Right on! That is what we love to hear! We have ridden three different units now and LOVE it more and more each time!
I got the first one delivered to Southern Nevada and pretty much have done the same thing. I put on the Vance & Hines muffler, factory cowl, sleeker mirrors, a Sargent saddle (custom order), tail rack and left saddlebag. Slow and easy or fast through some twisties, it’s simply a great bike to ride!
Killer set-up!
Where did you buy it? Im in Orlando
On my short list, thanks for the great review and great feedback in the comments 🍻
No problem 👍 Thank you for watching!
Good stuff, more videos like this! 😎👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks! There is more to come for sure... Thanks for watching Tango. Oh... Why were you not in SubD's Smokin' Hot Wing Challenge? Are you afraid of the heat?
Standard mode also does not provide as much power, as well as changing shift points as mentioned, according to the indicator bar when selecting different modes.
The weirdest thing is having no clutch to feather at < 5mph speeds, and no idle creep. On my CB500 coming out of my garage I'd give it a tiny bit of gas & ride the clutch till I was onto the road proper - on my Africa Twin DCT that amount of throttle does nothing. A little more & it's taking off like WHOAH. You have to ride the back brake, put it under tension & use brake control like you'd use the clutch, while remembering to keep the throttle open enough that the DCT wants to deliver *some* power. Misjudge it & you'll drop it. I'll get used to it though - I've ridden it once so far, just waiting for a day when it's not battering down with rain to get on it again.
I ride a 2018 Goldwing DCT love it
WoooHoooo!
Yesir, had mine for a couple months. Not many notice the dct. Cruises nice
Awesome. The DCT is a really nice offering from Honda. So simple and easy to function. And the bike is sooooo smooth!
Thinking about purchasing the Rebel 1100 DCT for the wife. She has always wanted to ride a motorcycle but is afraid of the manual transmission and going downhill. The DCT answers my question, but as far as going downhill from the mountains, does the DCT downshift to lower gears to slow the rider down?
Yes Sir. It really is amazing technology. As you back off the throttle the computer senses the inputs and automatically makes the gear selection... if you she wants it to be in a lower gear... she can just touch the "-" button and it will downshift again for increased engine braking. Just fantastic.
The computer can/will adjust to the rider over time. Suggest she ride in sport mode as it keeps the bike in lower gears especially for mtn and hill rides. Don't forget she can always use the paddle shifter to drop a gear or two as well.
Yes in user mode you can dial it up to be have high engine breakin or almost no engine breaking is a riders dream. I love the indian chief, but i rode the 1100 dct and it was juat the kooks over confor and relaxing, i chose relaxing cruse and sport at the same time, Rebell won me over.
Looks like a great all around bike but if you prefer a bike with low-maintenance shaft drive and more unique/custom looks, spend another grand and get a Fury instead.
Totally agree!
Thinking of getting one🤔
.....si dice che Honda sta per lanciare sul mercato altri modelli con il cambio DCT.
È vero? Chi sa qualcosa?
I need to learn how to ride, been wanting a motorcycle since i was a young boy.
Just go buy one...make it happen
It’s restricted in the U.S. here in the U.K. we get the full power, in fact I think the rest of the world does😂
Well that is a bunch of BUNK! How fast do your unrestricted Rebel 1100's go? I have not seen this anywhere!
Wait what???? Are you serious? So in every other country is not capped at 100mph??
The ECU is electronically speed-governed. The engine is not putting out less power. That, btw, is exactly the way my Rebel 1100 acts: it pulls 4th, 5th or 6th gear hard to 99 or so and then you can feel the electronics keep the motor below any higher speeds. When a tuner or re-flash is available that removes the speed limiter, I’m not sure I’ll spend much time doing triple digits, it is a cruiser, after all; but, it’s a shame to limit the bike from an occasional speed blast. I suspect the front end starts getting pretty light at higher speeds and the insurance considerations outweighed offering a 120 mph cruiser.
Yeah... our minds are blown too!
My original rebel 500 did just over 100 (about 105 I think), I took mine to 110 and shut it down but it had more to give
Are they having these kind of demos in Ontario Canada at all?
What is the o.t.d. price for this unit?
Did you ever experience the front end wiggle / shimmy? My 1100 does after 64mph
Nope! thank goodness... Check the head bearings and stiffen the rear pre-load. Oh... and check tire pressures.
@@MotoCityTV will do thank you
Simple fix add more turns to the rear shock and dont get dunlops, get Tires
-Metzeler tires Cruise Tecs,
F=130/70 B18
For the front it is better with honda.
Where is the direction light?
Left hand side handlebar.
Had anyone got this bike? If yes, could you please give me an estimate on how much the bike would be? Thank youuuuuuu
Give us a call!
Does the bike has vibrations?
Zero None. SUPER SMOOTH!
Awful colour schemes
Wrap it ;)
The reality of the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT ***BIG SCOOTER W/FEW GEARS***. For people with Arthritis and disabilities. Right to the point. God bless USA 🇺🇸.
#ShiftOrDie is what you are saying? Scooters are not motorcycles and this falls into the scooter category?
He's just an idiot. He also called it a bike for females. He's been adding that same comment on all the rebel dct vids and probably every other Honda DCT. Apparently he thinks he's cool or more of a man riding only manual shift bikes even though millions of people know how to shift manual?
It’s really weird how you post this in literally every video about the new rebel
These scooter is better than my Farvoy harley who inkove but is no match, i got a chief and is more power thsn the 1100 but not good on my back. I am drawn to drive the 1100 more and more, proud schooter driver. Grow up, high school is not for ever you know. 😂
