    I literally just bought this bike on Saturday. It got delivered yesterday. I’ve never owned a bike. I’m keeping mine in rain mode for a long time. This bike it mad powerful. I’m taking lessons, and a few motorcycle safety classes before I’m even going to ride in the streets. Thanks for the video.

    I recently got the rebel 1100 DCT simply for the power and I have a issue with my left hand, due to an accident, so the DCT was the boost that made me get the motorcycle. I love the bike and glad they made an automatic bike for my specs

    There is a great book called "A Twist of the Wrist" by Keith Code. In the book he says that when you start learning how to ride a bike, you have 25 cents. Your attention takes up different amounts of your 25 cents. So, when you first start riding, it may take 10 cents to learn to use the clutch and shifting. As you get better, you only use 5 cents or so of your 25 cents. Braking takes 10 cents, when you first begin riding, and as you get better, you only use 5 cents of your attention. What happens to your 25 cents when learning to corner, learning traffic on a bike instead of a car, learning push/push steering or what they call counter steering and other things that take time to learn when you first learn to ride a motorcycle. They all take some CENTS out of your 25 Cents. This Honda Rebel 1100 DCT just saved you 10 cents of your attention spending. So, you can learn to ride in a much safer way. You have more CENTS to spend on other areas that need your attention. Great bike for all learners and advanced riders. Older riders with arthritic hands will appreciate no clutch on those joints.

    I am getting a motorcycle this year and I was really set to get the Rebel 500 (2021) but when I heard about the 1100 DCT it really got me interested. It's the long term for me and I am not the biggest fan of the shifting. And having the DCT option really caught my attention. And all the features this bike has with the options for mods is awesome too. I was sold before but I think your review push further towards this bike. Thanks!

    Frankly the DCT is a huge advancement in transmission technology. Most ppl have a negative thought about it but it’s because they don’t know nor understand what it is. DCT was created and used in Formula 1 so it’s main application is for performance. BMW adopted DCT in their E46 M3 which was the first sports car to have it. It’s secondary benefit is that through technology you can have it go into auto mode but companies are marketing it as the main benefit when truly it’s designed for performance first. I love my Rebel 1100 DCT I can smoke any cruiser off the line because it basically has a launch control which you get in DCT also can shift faster than any person so when riding aggressively you can keep the RPM in the power band instead of it dipping like on a manual. The fact it can go auto is just a plus but trust me it’s not a knock. The stigmatism the biker community has is based on not knowing the real potential of these transmissions.

  • @dillysgirl4ever
    @dillysgirl4ever 2 роки тому +5

    I would think that new riders can start learning in rain mode then go to a faster mode once confidence and experience are gained. This sounds like a good bike for beginners and older returning riders looking for something relatively inexpensive that can also be good in a group ride

    Great review! I just purchased the 1100 DCT a couple days ago. This is my very first bike so full on beginner. I haven't rode it yet, still waiting on insurance. I consider myself a conservative driver and went with the DCT because of nerve damage in my left hand and issues with tendons responsible for lifting my feet with pressure. Automatic was a no brainer for me and I plan on staying in rain mode for quite some time. Really enjoyed this review, helped put the butterflies to ease about getting an 1100 for my first bike. THANK YOU!!!

      @@masogasm I am glued to this bike, absolutely love it! It's been a month and I started with 0 on the odometer it has 3,500 miles on it now. Took it across the Cherohala Skyway in NC and it handles the turns great. Last week I rode it 700 mile round trip to Pensacola, FL. The only complaint I have is the seat starts hurting after awhile other than that it has been a dream.
      I was real nervous starting out and starting in rain mode was a good step. There is a FB group specifically for the Rebel 1100 with a bunch of first time riders that has been real helpful as well 😁

      Get signed up for a MSF course asap, they fill up fast where I am. Put it in rain mode and just stay around the house without traffic to get the feel of it. Whatever happens don't panic react, especially with the brake.

    I test rode an Africa Twin DCT during Sturgis rally 2 years ago. I liked it but it was a bit tall for me. Only true issue I had was muscle memory kept having me grab a hand full of clutch on stops. On the AT the clutch lever is replaced with the parking brake lever.... yeah, grabbing a hand full of front brake with the parking brake level was bad... dropped it twice before I beat my muscle memory into submission. Last time I dropped a bike was in 2004 on gravel. (800 pound VTX 1800 Retro; miss that bike)

    The mid-controls caused you discomfort, and I'm 6' with 32"inseam. I'll have to sit on a Rebel asap. Honda's NT1100 may wind up in my garage when it's available. It has the same engine in manual or DCT, and comes with luggage, heated grips, and more. It doesn't cost much more either....👍😺

  • @233kosta
    @233kosta Рік тому +1

    No manual clutch, but if you put her in neutral just before you go under the bridge I'm sure she'll rev ;)
    You've also got manual mode and selector switches on the left, so "drop a gear and disappear" is absolutely possible. In auto mode the manual selectors will still shift up and down, but a few seconds in the algorithm kicks back in and gets you into the gear it thinks you should be in. I.e. if you drop two gears and don't get right on it, it'll go back up.

    Good job on one of the better reviews I've seen on the new 1100 so far. My Uncle in California just bought the exact bike you were riding -including DC-trans and even the burgundy color. Was thinking of getting one of these for a second bike thats a little lighter and more nimble for tooling around Milwaukee, I own an 08 Harley RKC anniv. (sun-glow burgundy:-) with a full stage 1, so I've been impressed with how these new Rebels make a similar deep "meaty" sound surprisingly close to my Harley. Did you happen to test ride a Rebel with the manual? There aren't really many videos of that up yet, suppose there may not be many in dealerships for people to test ride....

    • @OneDownGeneUp
      @OneDownGeneUp  3 роки тому +1

      The dealership I went to did not have a manual one. I’ve noticed the same thing - maybe there aren’t many out yet. It was a fun bike! I'm a returning rider and I'm kind of torn between the Rebel 500 and 1100. I mostly ride short distances in urban settings but the 1100 would also address some longer rides I've done. I actually took a Vespa 250 cc from San Jose to LA, so if there's a will there's a way. The DCT really interests me.

    This is the nice thing about UK/euro licensing regs. If you want to ride unrestricted, you HAVE to take your test on a big bike, so by the time you're buying something like this you've already developed the skills to handle it.

    Honda Rebel 1100 is good in terms of speed torque and in braking as well as stability when driving! For beginners who are new to motorcycles, you have to pay attention to whether you are really experienced in riding big motorbikes because the Honda Rebel 1100 category of large machines is very risky for you if you don't have experience.
    Don't just buy a big motorbike,
    Motorcycles give you an experience that you can't get in a car. The motor can also reach extreme speeds because it is powered by a larger engine than most cars we see on the road.
    But a bike like that can be too big and heavy for beginners to handle. Moreover, research reveals that most motorcycle accidents involve new riders in their first few months on the road, driving machines that are too big for their skills.
    As a beginner, you also need to consider factors such as horsepower, fuel efficiency, brake features, and technology

    I just yesterday tried out being on motorcycle for first time 😆 and even before I tried it the Rebel 500 that I believe I was taking a tour on is the kinda bike I’ve been dreaming about getting one of those cuz it just rides SO smoothly 😆 but I hear people say a lot how quickly you want to move over to something bigger cuz I would hate to get the 500 and then want to get 1100 only for instance half a year later 😬 and for me and average size woman who’s about 5,4” and I weigh approximately 130 pounds my main concern would be the weight of bike like that cuz I would definitely keep it rain mode 100% until I knew the bike properly and feel 100% secure but I’am just a little concerned with wether or not the weight of it would be too much 😐🤔 cuz the 500 definitely felt very light even for someone my size but after sitting on an 1100 I just feel like I’d be much more comfortable on that as the seat is not as small and I think all the tech that’s in it would definitely make me feel comfortable as a beginner and make a bike I’d most likely never get rid of cuz I don’t think I’d want to play something more powerful than an 1100 anyway 😅😬
    And as now seen some others perspectives on this bike that was all from men it was nice to get a woman’s opinion on a bike like this 😊

      You may consider the manual transmission version as well, due to weight savings, cost savings, and learning to ride that way so you can easily transfer to the majority of other motorcycles out there should your tastes change down the line!

    I’d love to have that DCT. People who pride themselves on being able to shift a bike are putting quite a bit of pride into something that isn’t that difficult. I’ve driven an 18 speed semi for a lot of my life,but I think shifting gears on a bike is kind of awkward and unnecessary. They’re so small! An automatic transmission could EASILY handle all the requirements of a motorcycle.

    2. How much does it cost for you to fill it up. I want a bike to save on gas that’s my goal to save money on gas
    3. Can it go from automatic to manual ?? Or was it designed only to go automatic
    4. Is the seat comfy for you ?

    Had a rebel 110 DCT - BEWARE
    I owned a rebel 1100 DCT for a couple of months and had a major, major problem. I had my bike service at 450 miles. On my ride home I noticed that the bike DCT transmission was engaging while I was stopped. I ignored the issue hoping that it was an one off. After riding the bike for ~200 miles the DCT transmission engaged again while I was stopped and the bike transmission/power over rode the braking system (Front and Back brakes) and took off. I tried with all of my energy to stop the bike but it wouldn't hold. I ended up crashing into a wall, broke a couple of ribs and my collar bone. I do not know if this has happened to anyone else? There is no clutch to override so BEWARE and practice hitting the kill switch!

    • @OneDownGeneUp
      @OneDownGeneUp  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Paulie, only you can really be honest with yourself about whether you’ll be responsible learning by keeping it in Rain mode and lower gears/slower speeds until you gain your basic skills.
      As far as seat height goes I didn’t have any issues with it, but certainly sit on a bunch of bikes and find the one that feels right to you! You can’t try too many, after all!
      I’d say if you’re looking to “buy once cry once” the Rebel 1100 is an incredible value; however, if I could do it again, I’d still consider starting on a lower CC bike like the Rebel 300/500. Cheaper, and hurts less when you inevitably drop it! It happens to everyone, after all!
      I don’t know much about the roads or speeds in Ireland, though we do have friends there we hope to visit someday (in the band Goitse), so maybe we’ll see you on the road out there someday!
