It sucks that, even just a couple sets ago, while sucking in regards to rarity distribution, we had a run where all these side sets at least had 3 good archetypes.
Remind me when they put like 90% of Ur to Yugi and Jaden in the mcs legendary duelist set. Rarity bumping is the worst Magician's souls is a super rare in the ocg :)
They should reduce the three themes down to two and have the slots for the thire theme be reprints that are either desirable or good with the selected themes.
A little late but you should check older side sets, the rarities where only supers and a secret per pack(clearly the important secrets were shortprints cof cof invocation Nekroz or golden lord cof cof), not the rare and oooh maybe you could get an ultra of nowadays, i would love to return to that as another thing to improve over
I wanted to get into paper play and go to a locals and I was in a "fighting game mood" at the time so Vanquish Soul seemed pretty hype and they could even do the "OUR TURN" thing but....The TCG treatment of Vanquish Soul made me decide to just... not play the TCG
Honestly, just make cards available at a lower rarity as well as a higher rarity and you'll make people willing to buy even a single pack every now and then. Hell, that's what the ocg does and it works well for them!
This is all well and good but KoMoney, in the tcg is just looking to make money and they are so they don’t really care but they give us reprint sets a year later from when the cards were actually good
Its the same shit as konami always rarity bumping all the staple cards, essentially pricing most people out of competitive play, or mini engines like the adventure engine or now currently the sinful engine, i'd love to play fire kings as its one of my favourite archetypes, but to play ot effectively i'd have to drop almost $1k JUST for the sinful engine, thats not even counting the sp little knight, and you just know konami is going to make the Promethean Princess the highest rarity as well, so that will be another $200+, plus the new sinful cards are all likepy to be $200+ each too. Konami does it so much better in the ocg, i just dont understand why they have to fuck tcg players over so hard, and they have proven they can do it right with things like the rarity collection too, its just so frustrating. As for your point about why konami cant always do sets like rarity collection, i ask, why not? The rarity collection packs were more expensive than normal packs, but offered significantly better value, i dont see why konami cant do sets like rarity collection regularly, it can be a great way for konami to reprint staples and other high demand cards
I think it'd be fine as a yearly thing at least, if it means replacing the tins. It would also help if Rarity Collection was something they kept printing in circulation, like the BE structure deck.
Hot Take Warning: I think we as a community need to change our mentality when it comes to sealed product. They're not designed for players to flip around and turn into profit (That's the vendor's job). What they're made is for the people that are like: "Ooooh a new set just came out, let me see what I get. Maybe i'll get a new deck idea or two!" or collectors that are looking for cards that have interesting effects and / or artwork. I feel like the best part of opening a booster box is the anticipation of not knowing what you're gonna get and the infinite amount of combinations that come from it. Whether what you pull is actually useful or not is up to the individual. If you are buying boxes / packs in hopes of getting a few specific cards then, you are missing the point of the product entirely and should turn to the secondary market for singles (it'll always be cheaper to get singles from the secondary market vs pulling from a set and praying for RNG to be in your favor).
I would agree if boxes didn't cost a fortune. The secondary market may be cheaper but not by a wide margin. Any high value card always ends up absurdly priced because of artificial supply/demand. S:P a single staple being worth over $100. Diabellstar and the Sinful Spoils engine being $100s. When it comes to side sets, this problem extends to constructing full on decks. The actual products aren't worth their market price and it causes the game to be too expensive to engage with. I can't have fun opening cards because the absurd price point creates a forced pressure to "pull well" to get my money's worth. And I can't exactly say a single piece of cardboard is worth about the same price as the overpriced box it came in.
when i started back playing in 2018 i picked up the orcust deck and am still using it, why you ask because of that one moment when i used the link 4 to negate the effects of my opponent's 5 monsters on the field, that one play had my entire card shop in a uproar
All they need to do to sell non meta sets is make them draftable and host draft events just like how magic has done for decades. How does yugioh not have this when it's a proven success.
This ended up on my recommended… you’re spitting facts

I suppose I should say, great vid though. Nice to see some actually new arguments and ideas.
No wonder this got recommend to us.
You got a very good point. Nice content
Idk why so small yugituber got recommended to me, but i am happy to find you. Keep it going, you have a great content and voice!
My locals has complelty stopped carrying yugioh bc how much money they have lost. We still get locals tho just with lack luster packs
That's miserable
Glad you showed up randomly in my recommended. Instant subscribe!

I don’t understand why packs are $4, it makes zero sense. I haven’t bought a box since Genesis Impact but that was before I found out about TCGplayer

I can agree with this video.
At least I'm not too butt hurt over the META.

This type of shit is why since covid hit I outright stopped playing TCG / buying new cards

I dont really unnderstand konamy. For me all these choises makes people prefere to buy from the secondary marked more than from themselves...

Yep I'm glad I'm Asian American I can play both ocg and tcg it's good to be spoil
Ya I can see why. This is part of the reason I am learning Japanese (hiragana script).
