RIP to Dean Stockwell who played Charles Cain in this movie. He was a great actor. He is most known for playing the character Al Calavici from Quantum Leap. RIP to Gilbert Gotfried.
LOVE Gilbert. Sad to see him go. I was a fellow Monster Kid!
I swear Billy has a cousin named Tackleberry!
Haha! I believe so too! I'd love to see a BHC/Police Academy crossover
@@cocosinhayeah but unfortunately the actor David Graf that played Tackleberry passed in 2001
@jasonhearn5818 oh yeah, true - I completely forgot..such a shame. Maybe somewhere, some fan has done a splice of their respective scenes...
The Cobra poster is a double Easter Egg. Sylvester Stallone was originally going to play the cop in Beverly Hills Cop. But he wanted a movie more like Cobra and the producers wanted a comedy. Stallone left and wrote Cobra. Cobra also stars Brigitte Nielson, the tall blonde in Beverly Hills Cop 2 and Stallone's wife at the time.
I knew some of that but not all of it...good stuff.
Mickey Rourke was casted originally to play Cobretti's partner before the film's plans changed.
Brigitte was also in Rocky IV playing Drago's wife just prior to Beverly Hills Cop II
@@k.delpino1124 I knew that Rourke had been cast but I thought it was for Axel. Him being cast as Stallone's partner makes a lot more sense.
@@hshaughnessy17 from back then to the remake of Get Carter (2000) and then The Expendables, Stallone & Rourke were like brothers.
Rourke's career kept going because Stallone always had his back.
Eddie Murphy always believed that when you are given your break you need to bring other people along with you, as even the smallest cameo can lead to getting discovered. This is why so many other young comedians have small parts in his films. They were some of the first appearances of these comics on a hollywood film.
Rosewood isn't losing his mind, he's been set free. :D
"Rosewood is totally losing his mind"
"He's gone insane!"
The escalation of Billy is one of my favorite parts of BHC 🤣🤣🤣
I love the little glimpse into his apartment and how the guys react to Billy's oddities.
The joy on his face while collecting weapons in the finale is so hilarious.
Judge Reinholt returns for 3 and is one of the better parts of the lesser entry in the series.
Axel is such a bad influence on Billy. 😂
This was Chris Rock's film debut! Eddie Murphy met and saw Rock do a stand up set at a comedy club in New York. In fact, Murphy asked the owner of the club to let Rock perform.
It's funny.. I literally was watching a new interview with Tony Rock just last night, telling the story of how Chris got cast in this film..and I stumbled upon this today.
then in '88 he was in I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA! - which I think he was just hilarious in!
@@jollyrodgers7272 I believe that was my introduction to him. I saw it in theaters and that scene is still memorable to this day.
I'm sorry, but you guys doing the unprompted synchronized fist pumps at 8:51 when they said Bogomil was still alive was beautiful, wholesome, and the reason I love you guys lol.
💯✊
lol but what did they see that was so entertaining in Eddie Murphy.
One of the biggest zero talents america ever offered to the wrId. Bad singer, bad actor, bad producer, bad writer, bad director not to mention the fact that the guy has some Ray Cyst views about whyt america that are quite disturbing.
Now of course Ieftoid Psy Koes in hollywood would make this guy big.

Hearing you guys having dance parties with your daughter, to the Beverly Hills Cop theme warms my heart hahaha. I hope it is great and long lasting memory for your family.
First off guys. I want to say thank you. Watching and enjoying this one. This is my favorite out of the franchise, but I also want to say I'm glad that you're gonna experience the third one for yourselves every other first time movie reactor channels I watch. They always skip the third one. Without viewing it for themselves, they hear everybody else talk about it or just like listen to the critics. But they don't experience it. And I'm glad you guys are going to go through with it. I appreciate that.
Axel introduced himself at the Beverly Hills Shooting Club as "Richard James." This was a nod to Rick James, Eddie Murphy's musician friend who produced his 1985 album.
🎶I want to party all the time. Party all the time!🎶
As was his line in the first movie, "No, man, I'm from Buffalo." Rick James' hometown.
@@tevinwms1104 Rick James the SUPER FREAK!
The actor who plays bogamill was also in robocop the same year this came out which is why they had him out for most of the movie being in the hospital.
He was the bad guy in total recall
Ronnie Cox is a multi-faceted actor, and his villain roles in the 80s was a definite departure. Check him out in the 70s classic, Deliverance, if you haven’t already.
He's also Loudon's dad in Vision Quest. Another great 80's movie and killer soundtrack.
In the 80s, Ronnie Cox used to pop up in film roles like Samuel L. Jackson.
Taggart going the Rodney Dangerfield look
The actor who was the police capt. Was busy playing the corporate OCP guy in RoboCop which also came out in 87.
Ronny Cox's character in Beverly Hills Cop survives being shot, but his character in RoboCop doesn't survive being shot and falling out of a highrise window 😂.
i forgot Dean Stockwell from Quantum Leap was in this too. that was a great series. another really good review. thank you....and Gilbert Gottfried. R.I.P.
Yeah I miss Dean. Little known fact is that Dean did voice acting for DCAU. He did the voice of Old Tim Drake in Batman Beyond Return of the Joker.
Dean Stockwell and Jurgen Prochnow were both in the original Dune too.
My older brother works in Hollywood in the camera department of whatever film/TV/commercial/music video project he's working on. He was on the film crew of the upcoming Beverly Hills Cop 4, aka "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F". This next one is going to be absolute mayhem! Loved that you both loved BHC 2! Love your UA-cam channel, too!
@TBR Schmitt you can’t go wrong with watching the two 48 Hours movies after you finish the Beverly Hills Cop movies.
That's the way to watch

48 hours has gone on to become my favorite Eddie movie.
"What a showdown, where's the big b*tch" LOL man had me crying.
Yall got to watch Beverly Hills Cop 3. Regardless of the flak y'all have been reading. It's a good movie
No. It's not a good movie.
It's not as good but it has it's moments. Takes place in a theme park. (Disneyland knockoff) Sadly, Billy and Axle are the only ones that came back for the 3rd one from the 2nd but you do get to see Serge again...😆
Great reaction to this entertaining sequel you two...
If you're looking for a couple of films very similar to Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2, then check out Fletch (1985) and Fletch Lives (1989) with Chevy Chase as Fletch, a newspaper reporter who has a knack for uncovering crimes and wearing various disguises...even Harold Faltermeyer (who did the music for BHC 1 & 2) did the music for Fletch & Fletch Lives. (Fletch's theme is almost like the Axle F theme)...
The Main Bad Guy was the Captain from Das Boot
Jurgen Prochnow
Ja! Du hast ein gutes Auge! (You have a good eye!) 🙂
Beverly Hills Cop 4 will be out in about 2 weeks
I just hope it is good
After Coming to A America 2, I am terrified.
@@clevelandcbi Oh so am I, I liked the first but the 2nd I didn't really like.
Gilbert Godfrey loved him as one of the judges on those 1980's. MTV Beach Bikini contests.

The actor who played the Mayor, Robert Ridgely, also played Boris the Hangman, in Blazing Saddles.
I remember him in Boogie Noghts as well.
@@jdelark6428 The Colonel...sadly, his final film role.
44:33 Anyone that calls it a facility has definitely never been. I got ur back bro 😂😂😂
LMAO
Ronny Cox (Bogomil) was featured so little in this film because he was under contract for the overlapping shoot on Robocop as Dick Jones. As it was an entirely different studio they usually are not kind to releasing actors for other pictures. This is why his scene with the other actors was very limited and just crafted to appear as more interaction occurred.
Tony Scott likes his role as a father figure to the cops that happened in the first movie. So they emphasized this by giving him a daughter and pushing his scenes to a carefully crafted cameo. So if you look closely you'll notice all the interior office scenes with him are very close sets, wardrobe, and lighting. Although Cox's hair is pretty much always in a similar style, its identical in this scene in Bevery Hills Cop 2 and Robocop. The closeup of him running outside (the long shot is a stand in) has his hair grown out a little more.
Another unrelated unusual production detail is that the same 4 neckties in the movie keep floating between characters in the film in different scenes.
@@LogicalNiko really I didn't know that. So that's why we saw less of him in part 2. Thanks for the info I never really knew that until just now thanks for sharing that. 👍
@@philybarra2702 Yeah it does get silly when studios don't like their actors doing other works. I can understand that if you are actively on set on one studio's lot you are obligated to be there and ready. But if they tell you no you can't go down the street and do a scene your days off, that's a bit crazy.
OTOH If you are a top billed star I can understand that being an exception. You don't want two Tom Cruise movies coming out months apart from different companies. That level of star billing is a big component in the marketing.
If you like Tony Scott you should check out the movie “Unstoppable” from 2010 with Chris Pine and Denzel W. It was Tony’s last film I believe and not many UA-camrs have reacted to it!
Fun fact: The guy who plays Dewey is built like The Rock now.

No debate.

31:26 - Samantha is very smart.
34:09 - Taggert fires a shotgun. 34:10 - Taggert makes an impossible shot with a revolver.
35:48 - Car lands on its nose. In the next SPLIT-SECOND, we're given a profile view of it exploding.

Rosewood: Sarge would you just relax and trust me.
Taggart: trust you? You drive worse than Maureen.

Axel: JUST TELL ME WHERE THE SEATBELT IS AT?
😆😆😆😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
This is an excellent movie and my favorite line “sound the alarm you got a break in!! I need authorization. *shoots alarm* AUTHORIZED!” It’s just fantastic.
Fun fact: the posters of Rambo and Cobra in Rosewood's house was kind of a joke to Sylvester Stallone, who was initially given the part of Axel Foley but the studio didn't like his "dark" ideas for the movie so Eddie got the part. The blonde woman (Bridget Nielsen) was his wife at the time. She also appeared in Cobra with Stallone.
oh that's right.
And then after Billy takes out the truck with an rpg Taggert says "F-- Rambo!" 😂
The cement truck horn gets me every time.
Sam you’re on top of it tonight!! “C and D”!!👍
In the editing, they left out one of the funniest jokes in the cement truck scene. Axel to Billy: “Are you driving with your eyes open, or are you, like, using the Force?”
My favorite Beverly Hills Cop movie!!!!
And hey, a lot of people are bashing the third one, but the movie isn't that bad!!
Its hard to make a groundbreaking third movie when the first two were so great!
Sure its not as good as the others and basically fulfills the "just more of the same" trope, but to see the awesome cast on another adventure made it worthwhile!
I love Beverly Hills Cop so much i grew up watching these ,To Be honest i love the third one , and he is my favorite , i don't know why because the movie feels very different than the other 2 but i don't know i have something with that movie.
My mom took me to see the third part at the cinema on the opening day, and that's why it has a special place in my heart!
I think so too. They're all great but this one probably my favorite.
Only reason the 3rd gets a bad wrap is because of how good the first 2 are, it is better than most movies put out in the last 10 years.......
They tried to make it more family friendly. That's where it suffers.
Yeah, it's definitely not as good as the first two but still a decent movie

Definitely give Beverly Hills Cop III a whirl. It's the weakest of the 3, but it's still classic Axel Foley!
They can’t stop now. They gotta see the craziness of III
Eddie Murphy is the one who discovered Chris Rock. Rock pretty much owes all of his career to Eddie. Murphy first debut Rock's then new budding talent on a standup comedy circuit programs back in the day called, "Uptown Comedy Express" (1987).
“THIS is not my office?!” 😂 Probably already mentioned, but Jeffrey / Burke / Paul Reiser was a famous standup in the 80s / 90s, wrote a couple of books, starred in a few sitcoms, including MY TWO DADS and MAD ABOUT YOU, etc.
Also, MORE great soundtrack songs in this franchise 😊
Yes, the robberies were just to finance the weapon's deal. That's why them interrupting of the Federal Reserve robbery was so crucial. They literally needed that money.
I love that any money he acquires, he gives it back somehow(the $200, the vitamins in part 1)
From Tony Scott put on the list REVENGE (1990) with Kevin Kostner and Anthony Quinn, very good movie! serious, dark, violent, one of Tarantino's favorites of Tony's filmography, which is why he offered Tony the script of True Romance after having seen Revenge.
The tall blonde is actress Brigitte Nielsen. She used to be married to Sylvester Stallone at one point. And, if you can believe it, she used to date Flava Flav from rap group, Public Enemy, after they were both residents on a reality show called, The Surreal Life. Nielsen and Stallone both star in a pretty good crime/action movie named, "Cobra", that you two might want to react to.
Fun fact: the villain is played by Jurgen Prochnow, who played the U Boat captain in the Oscar Nominated DAS BOOT. He was originally going to play the role of Dr. Moreau in Richard Stanley's Island Of Dr Moreau until Stanley was fired after 4 days of filming.
Also the original Duke Leto Atreides!

III came out in 94 and had a real tonal shift, I believe mostly because the Director was John Landis who was going through a weird time, working mostly with Michael Jackson - coming off of some flops. BHCIII is one of those movies you see has an R rating and for the life of you, cant remember why. Axel is bold and daring as an detective.
So why would Billy not be inspired by that?
Ronny Cox was in Robocop (1987) at the same year as a villain.
His first ever villain role, IIRC. I'm sure I read that somewhere.
Every time I hear someone mentioning the urban legend that pretty much all sequels are bad (or always get worse) compared to the original, I automatically react, because there strictly is no true fact about that ; it can go three ways (badder, equivalent, better)... BHC2 is dire in comparison to the first one. Cut and paste of scenes from the first film without the magic. Compare Axel visiting the gun club in BHC2 to him visiting the country club in the first one and blagging his way in. No sane person can conclude BHC2 is better. Nothing works. A feeble attempt at recapturing the past for profit. Thread ended.
@@RobertSnook-mz6fh I too, prefer the first one and think that it is a lil better than the second one, but not by a big margin... And that was my point. I was not talking about my personal take regarding which sequels are better and which aren't... I simply was pointing out that there are tons of sequels that objectively are -at worst- pretty much equivalent to the original or -at best- are much better than the original... The list of such examples is endless ; which discredits the popular belief (or urban legend) that all sequels suck.

This was the next film for top producers Jerry Bruckheimer & the late Don Simpson with the late director Tony Scott after Top Gun (1986).
Everything taken up a notch.
Smarter bad guys, bigger stakes, more laughs and the action was off the hook.
Murphy continues to be the best as Axel F.
I like that Taggart & Rosewood get more growth in their characters than just 'one is serious, the other is still learning' kind of pair.
Brigitte Nielsen (Sly Stallone's wife at the time) made for a pretty good villainess.
This is one of the best sequels of it's era.
1987's highest-opening weekend debut and the highest grossing, opening weekend of that time.
Won 6 awards and nominated in the Best Original Song category (Oscar & Golden-Globe) for Bob Segar-Shakedown off a slammin' soundtrack.

In common, both films were smash hits about an main hero character of the Detroit police.
Veteran actor Ronny Cox was in both films, Bogomil in BHC2 and Dick Jones (first-ever villain role) in Robocop.
