Just did this on my 01 Tahoe, she went from having a lot of steering play, while still to having very little, but the drive was smooth! Definitely will be hitting the freeway this morning with a little bit of speed. Thanks again!
Also it’s good to inform, only tighten if you don’t have any fluids coming out of gear box, mines oem but it’s still good, definitely gotta save for a new one in the next year. Also before I did this adjustment, I had change the whole front suspension trying to find out why I had so much play, so make sure you check ball joints, control arms, axels too.

@@NYAG The problem is that I am exhausted all means to loosen the nut to adjust the play, even used commercial air tools, crow bars for leverage and still will not loosen the nut any ideas?

@alexshatner3907 Have you tried heating it up and using a air gun?

Don't tighten it too much, or you'll regret it. I did that years ago and went too far. When I tried backing the center screw out it folded the lip of the seal over, causing a pretty bad leak and I had to get another steering gear box. After the fact, I read that you should only tighten it about a 1/16 of a turn at a time, at the most and then check your work.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, indeed. I do believe I mentioned not to tighten it too much in the video, and a little at a time. 👍

@@NYAG Yes, I did hear you say that, but you only said "not too much" if, I recall correctly. I thought I'd add a little specificity to it after my costly mistake and researching it after the fact. I could have saved myself the cost of a rebuilt gear box if I had researched the spec prior to trying the adjustment. Live and learn, right and hopefully keep someone else from making my mistake. By the way, I liked your video, good job.

@benvenegas8708 it could be that, also could be something else besides that. (Joints)

If i dont have my steering wheel held in place while doing this is it possible for steering wheel to end up upside down?

Would take quite a bit to turn the wheel upside down.

Hey was trying to do this today but my wrenches are too damn long was wondering if just using a socket to loosen nut then tighten the screw in would be a problem

It may possibly move the adjustment screw. It's worth a shot but may not work aswell. If you have a small crescent wrench (adjustable wrench), that would work instead of an open end/ box wrench.
