The fact detectives didn’t investigate the smell of a dead body in the basement while looking for a missing person is inexcusable.
the dog tried to tell them.
They can only do so much without a search warrant and the fact it was dead rodents they had to believe it but it definitely should’ve raised more suspicion
That's how John Wayne Gacy was eventually caught. Detectives were investigating the disappearance of a teenager and they noticed the smell of death coming through a vent in the bathroom. Fortunately they investigated instead of accepting Gacy's explanation.

Right, the smell of a decomposing body and positive cadaver dog result would have been enough for a search warrant.

Round of applause to the family for not letting this go and hiring the PI
Round of applause for hitting a new level of police incompetence, that they had to hire a PI when the police had already been meters away from the decomposing body with a cadaver dog, and just let that little detail slide. Honestly mind-blowing.
Rodney is the man! so passionate for his work.
Makes sense why the PI was more useful in the case than the detectives. The PI has to get results to improve their reputation and get more cases. The detective doesn't have to do shit, they'll get all the cases regardless and they have no need to have a good and reputable reputation.

Cops got nothing to lose
The police who were in the basement and smelt decomposition but didn't conduct a thorough search are grossly negligent and need to lose their jobs.
They were probably going to lunch. Priorities you know.
They were too grossed out to do a search.
Facts! This investigation was a 💩 show💯
I want to agree but he did it right. A good cop will stay within the constitution. They got her and they did it legally. If that's not good enough for you maybe you can be the next innocent person in prison.
@@mypov8028 The claim is not that she should have been arrested and jailed then and there...
Missing person + smell of decomposition = red flag and warrants further examination. They accepted that the smell came from a few dead rats and some garbage and went on their merry way. Even after the missing person was missing for a much longer time, they did not figure to go back and reexamine.
I think we can all agree that the most shocking part of this entire story is that two men wanted to sleep with Rose.

I cannot believe the police didn't get a search warrant immediately after the cadaver dog alerted them to the fact that there was a corpse in the basement. That is seriously bad policing. Shockingly bad.
Having the guy you were cheating on your husband with move into your house months after his disappearance is a good way to make yourself look guilty as fuck even if you aren’t.

I hope he haunts tf out of both of them.

She seems a little soft in the head. I wonder if she framed his life insurance policy and put it on the mantle.
She waited a couple months. Sure, he's still missing under extremely suspicious circumstances, but you can't expect her to dwell on the past forever.
Bringing her 4 year old son with her as she disposed of his dad’s body?! That’s a whole new level of evil and grotesque.
I'd argue it's still endangering the welfare of a child, despite it being overturned. The absolute trauma of knowing you were riding in the car with your fathers dead body while your mother went to dispose it is going to plague that child for the rest of their life. It may have not been a direct physical risk, but does mental health mean nothing? Would the argument then be, "Well, the child was never meant to find out?"

This story makes my guts churn !!!!
Also as a person that has smelled a decomposing body it’s not the same smell as decomposing animals. I don’t know if it’s our diet or what but it’s a uniquely awful smell.
2 things I learned from this horrific story:
1. Cops are not trained to smell a dead body which is unacceptable.
2. It is acceptable, however, to have a child in the car while transporting a rotting corpse.

They probably figured they weren't getting paid enough to deal with the smell
You would think the dog can differentiate between garbage, and dead animals and humans. Humans have a distinct smell. So it makes no sense police did not do a thorough search. It was so freaking obvious that she did something to him! She said the odor in the basement was dead bats, and the investigators believed her. They told the family this isn’t like CSI!! Horrible police work! The PI certainly broke the case. We tried to vote the sheriff out that year! Very embarrassing for the county! Thank God the PI got justice for this poor family! RIP Adam!

Whilst its unlikely to know that it could cause his death, she was so keen to get one up on Rose that she didn't factor in how her son would feel upon receiving the information. i live less than an hour away from ontario county and i never knew about this case. the things she did are absolutely deplorable. rest in peace, adam
Horrible tragedy. And since the Chase family had to hire and pay for a private investigator to solve this case and do the job that the local police never bothered to do, will the family get any refund of the taxes they paid for services not provided? Why do we have police at all if people need to hire their own investigators to solve crimes?
Yea... Focus on the least common issue right?... Funny thing about people who don't like police they're usually criminals... Your opinion doesn't matter here
ACAB
If the police ceased to exist you would be dead sooner rather than later whining about tax dollars.
Ha, if it only worked that way! I paid for my kid to go to private school, yet I still had to pay ta money to the awful school district we were in. Same as people with no kids, they have to give tax money to schools so these lazy, pos, entitled, mean, unruly kids have babysitters from their lazy arse "parents" that don't actually parent. They are too busy on their phones to raise their own kids.
Bingo
What a horribly sad video. I’ll never understand why people murder when all they have to do is get a divorce! So unfair!💜💜
Greed, I think is the main reason.
impulse and loss of morals
Guess you'd have to have been there.
This. How does one become so detached that they'd kill someone they once loved enough to have a child with? It's honestly so scary and makes me glad to be single.
Are you sad for the woman?
The cops saw all that trash, smelled a foul smell, had a cadaver dog that signaled a dead body and they just went "Meh!" Makes me wonder how many other murders went undiscovered in this town.
Or because the family couldn’t afford a PI
I can't imagine the stench that was filling that foul house. That little boy had to live with the stink of his dad's decaying body for weeks, and then had to sit in the car with his dad's rotten remains in the trunk. 🙁
The police were investigating a missing man, possibly murdered, smelled decomposition in the basement of the estranged wife and did nothing!? Wow, I guess anyone can become a cop!
No, not anyone. If you have an IQ in excess of 90 - forget it.
So her reason for not turning herself in was because of the way his family acted? Because they made her mad? Really? I mean, if she had said "because of my son. If I was in prison he has none of his parents left" I'd get it, that could be an understandable reason for not turning yourself in.
But because his family annoyed her...I hope the kid was brought into a loving home and has a good life now, though. Despite of what his mom is and did.
💯👌
The problem here is you are expecting empathy/sympathy/rational thinking from a murderer who killed her highschool sweetheart without remorse...its like expecting a lion to feel sad for the zebra that it killed
that poor kid. My heart aches for what he will have to deal with for the rest of his life.
Rodney, the private investigator, did an amazing job cracking Rose and making her confess. Even though the victim would never come back, knowing the truth and getting justice is the best closure the family can have in that situation.
She couldn't pretend to be innocent for the life of her, wow.
I know right! Narcissist are a different breed fr
@@pinkskyyyy The fact she refused to apologize because "her friends knew she wasn't a bad person", like what?!
Excellent police work. Other than the fact that they overlooked a stinking, rotting corpse less than 5 feet from where they stood! Have the officers/detectives still got a job?
They probably are still employed, if not in that same place probably somewhere else, similar to doctors and nurses they seem to be able to move around in the system as long as their infractions don't become a news headline or they don't piss off the powers that be. Can you imagine you or I doing the antithesis to our job and then being able to go to a different state but in the same company or field and our former company not say anything about what we did wrong? Seems so messed up
They must live in the same conditions to miss that.
It’s Canada after all
@@pale_saintIt's in Ontario County, NY, USA you fucking retard, lol.
@@pale_saint ...no it isn't, child. It's Ontario County, NEW YORK
"I didn't want anyone to think I purposely murdered him. So I chopped him up & burned his body." 🤦🤦
I would say “your” family to my wife, because I am part of that family. It wouldn’t make sense to say “our” family. That would imply only the children were the family.
Yeah that was the only thing I disagreed with. Other than that he was spot on.
Rodney is the only normal person in this entire video.
Never was there a person with less reason for being a narcissist.
What a nice way to politely trash a horrible Hyannis monster of a person.
You would be surprised how many unattractive narcissts are among us. It is not about how we see them, but how they see themselves.
Narcissism isnt about looks. Its a personality disorder
This isn't a narcissist. This is a sociopathic murderer. The narcissist label is so overused now it's ridiculous.
No conscience = sociopath
Real simple
All the men that saw her on those pillows should definitely call the cops and report it for vandalism if they don't comply
I’m only 2 mins in and I already know I’m gonna like this channel!
You can see it in her eyes, her demeanor, her *everything*. She has absolutely zero remorse for the absolutely vile acts she committed. The darkest pits of hell are likely awaiting this sorry excuse for a human.
'Huh, missing person, basement smells like a dead body...nothing wrong here, have a nice day ma'am'
A police investigation should have been conducted on the disturbed individuels who wanted to sleep with her. That crime is equally unacceptable.
Not to mention that they were willing to live in that house
Tiko, so many love you and only want the best. The best for all. ❤❤❤❤❤
It’s NEVER dead rats, nor a mannequin. And if your hubby has a SECRET room, your married to a killer.
I AGREE WITH YOU 100. WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE YOUR KIDS CAN PLAY ANYWHERE AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOCK YOUR DOORS??
That trashy basement was definitely needing to be searched. The cops dropped the ball because they didn’t want to mess with it. Shame on them.
1000%,.Talk about LAZY~
