Hey!! I seriously like your videos very much they are soooo entertaining!!! Anyways I was wondering if you would make a remake of winx club video ( because of whole season 8 art style controversy ... and you also didn't talk much about the nickelodeon era and other transformation and all that you know...) I would really like if would make it!!!
Exactly. I loved Barbie, and owned a lot of them. But never once did it occur to me that I should look exactly like her. Sure, I always wanted an hourglass figure (though that was not because of barbie), and to be attractive, but at the most, maybe I took some inspiration from Barbie in my younger years (such as hair, clothes, mascara), but even a child knows that you are not meant to look exactly like a doll.
I've been trying to introduce my friends to the Barbie Cinematic Universe. It was just beginning to get interesting, too. Life in the dream house had so many self-aware jokes, like Barbie not being sure how old she was turning and her having 50 different jobs. She's become a complex character, and she finally had parents and a history.
Honestly I never ever looked at a doll when I was younger and thought “I want to look like that, I need to look like that” and I will never do that it’s a plastic toy-
"We were too busy torturing our dolls to care!" Legit. I didn't even think about Barbie's shape, I was too busy making elaborate and evil storylines that could rival the worst soap opera.

If barbie doesn't make me a serial killer in the future, than I become a cleaning lady. But... I'm neither so that sucks.

Nope Mattel is cost cutting. They don’t really interview kids, kids doesn’t have a wide knowledge about dolls and everything, all they want is to play that’s all.
2001-2005: primarily fairy tales, excellent pacing, villain actually poses a threat, overall absolute masterpieces 2006-2015: switched from dolls on covers to CGI, animation style changes, fantasy themed (mermaids, fairies, with a few Christmas movies which also include magic), villains progressively less of a real threat but still interesting 2015-present: more real-world scenarios, with some sci-fi themed movies (space travel, spies), animation changed to a more 3D model appearance, includes relevant topics of today though still geared toward children, storytelling goes down (lazy writers?)
I won't lie to you I could write an entire essay on barbie as the princess and the pauper, it's not just incredibly well written and acted, with AMAZING songs (did you know the London symphony orchestra performed them?) but has so many incredible underlying messages like how such a large class divide can create villains or victims out of the working class and make them turn on even each other (Erika is a victim of Madam Carp, who likes to think she's a member of a higher social class, even lying about being close friends with the princess, wearing extravagant clothes and mistreating the seamstresses, and preminger is the son of a peasant, who likely despises royalty because of how poor he grew up). like I know they created the barbie movies in order to sell doll lines but with this movie you can seriously tell how much they cared about actually creating something *good*. I still think we need a live action remake, the only thing holding it back is the animation.
The economic theory makes me laugh though "The nonrenewable resource is gone now! Let's replace it with this new nonrenewable resource from the same mine!" I know it's a Barbie movie, but it's still a very unsafe thing to pin your entire country's economy on
I love your passion, and, honestly, same, I may just do an essay on it for fun someday But, please, don't curse us with a Lion King or Mulan level remake of Barbie movies, for the love of everything that's good I would rather have my eyes burned out that have to see these masterpieces and amazing songs being poorly butchered just for company profit The only good remake possible would have to be made by a passioned team, for, like u said, better animation, with talented character designers and a decent director But I really don't see it happening, unfortunately, Mattel doesn't seem interested, and bc of copyright and also money, no fan or indie company could do it And, honestly, that's really a shame I would love to see an earnest remake of so many barbie movies, they really deserve it, the stories are amazing and hilarious
I will always defend the Princess and the Pauper with my life! That was my favorite movie when I was I child Edit: *📣 watch any movie made from 2001-2012*
There are only 3 really good newer barbie movies, pink shoes, rock'n royals and starlight adventures Dolphin magic and princess adventure are also pretty decent
Mattel has said they'll do anything for Barbie and that becomes less wholesome when you realise they probably cancelled Monster High because it started selling more than Barbie.
My favorite movies that I recommend is - Barbie: The Island Princess -Barbie and the Three Musketeers -Barbie Fairytopia trilogy -Barbie and the magic of the Pegasus -Barbie in the 12 dancing princesses -Barbie: Dolphin magic
Yes, but the characters really look terrible in the first Fairytopia and a bit awful in the sequel (I won't complain about Fairytopia 3). The movies are alright. I love the villain in Barbie: The Island Princess, because she has a backstory.
5:48 i remember that era, that particular wave of barbie movies had all the characters look 100% like their doll version. also, swan princess was my shit back in the day
@@3rebella 2012 is amazing ,Barbie Princess and the popstar is amazing,my favorites movies: 1 Island Princess 2 Princess and the popstar 3 magic of Pegasus 4 12 dancing Princess 5 Princess and the pauper 6 Barbie diamond castle 7 Barbie fairytopia,Magic of rainbow
I, as a boy in the 2000s, actually grew up with the Island Princess movie, it's basically what if Barbie was also Tarzan/Pocahontas. I remember the songs being nice.
Island Princess is by far the best Barbie movie ever for me. It has some of the absolute best songs. A strong female protagonist that is also kind and gentle, the other romantic "competitor" is actually also a kinda, educated and compassionate person. The story is actually kind of dark. It just gives you all the feelssssssss.
I remember that when I first saw Barbie I was like: "I wanna live in a house like that! I want a closet like that! She looks so girly!" and I loved how she was independent but also girly as heck, she wasn't a bad girl or a boring business woman
The last Barbie movie that I really cared about was The Secret Door. Then Mattel tried too hard to be "hip" because of the huge presence of social media. Internet wasn't as present in 2004 so they took more liberties with the plot, and I think that was for the best. It made Barbie magical. And yes, Life in the Dreamhouse is amazing. Fantastic.
You should definitely watch barbie in a Christmas carol it is really fun to see barbie portray a whole different personality other than the usual sweet and funny character we are used to.Also my favorite barbie movie for the longest time was barbie in the three musketeers but in general recommend any barbie movie that came out before 2012
I made one of my Barbies a electrical tape outfit, many years later I realized it was more of an S&M suit because that's what I saw in a magazine at my cousin's house because he left it out and 6 year old me didn't know any better. 🤣
My recommendations for other Barbie Movies: - Rapunzel (I'm still feeling satisfied whenever I watch the ending) - Nutcracker (The music of Tschaikowsky, the colors and the storyline, especially the twist at the end (if you want to call it that way). It's my all-time favorite Barbie movie) - Swan Princess (The music of Tschaikowsky and the lighting during some parts of this movie make it a candy for your eyes and ears) - the first two Fairytopia movies are not as great as the earlier movies, but still good (and I still believe that they carry strong messages for young girls) Basically I believe all earlier movies were better than the new ones. The reason might be that I grew up with them but the newer ones often don't feel right. Sometimes it's the lighting or the color scheme or the pacing of the story (to fast or to slow) or even the whole storyline which is either too ambitious for 90 minutes or it's just bullshit. So my basic rule for Barbie movies is "The first few ones were the best."
In my opinion the newer movies are way too pink, the bright magenta on everything hurts the eyes, and I won't even talk about the obsession over puppy movies. The older ones were pink too but the soft and light tones added a dreamy and magic atmosphere to the story, it felt right in some way. Or I'm just nostalgic, who knows
you should watch Startlight adventure, visually its the best barbie movie and I will not be told otherwise. also Island princess because that is a barbie movie about a murder plot, im not kiding... or exaggerating-
For barbie movie recommendations, most of the older princess movies are a safe bet. Rapunzel is one of my favorites, it definitely stands out for me as an adaptation of the fairy tale. Princess charm school also holds a special place in my heart.
Remember when Barbie introduced a line of dolls that were made to represent every type of body type (and some even with skin conditions)? That was pretty cool
Strangely enough I’ve become more interested in Barbie as an adult thanks to youtubers like Hextian and Azusa Barbie. The way the brand has stayed relevant is super impressive and I love that they’re open to changing in order to keep up.
I had Barbies growing up, I also was overweight. It never once crossed my mind that I had to look like her. Perhaps children aren't impressionable as as adults make them out to be.
Awesome video! And I actually recommend Barbie: Swan Lake (since I don’t really see anyone commenting about it). It has Kelsey Grammar as Rothbart, and it’s just a lot of fun. Barbie: Magic of Pegasus is also really great!
It's so weird to think that Brie Larson sang a song for Magic of the Pegasus, now that I know that info xD My mind cannot put Barbie and Captain Marvel into the same compartment and it frustrates me :")
I honestly love how they’re handling this era of Barbie. She’s relevant, encouraging, and a pretty convincing teenager. I do want them to go back to making movies unrelated to whatever show is going but Dreamhouse Adventures and that universe is really charming and fun
Lillie: “Wait a minute Lillie doll... I’m now wondering how I look barbizied?” *Lillie sees herself as gamer barbie outfit then a Princess then Malibu summer design* “That would be a royal cute but also gaming nightmare.”
I grew up with the "classic" barbie movies of the 2000s as a kid. I loved the 12 dancing princesses, fairytopia and mermaidia, the island princess, magic of the pegasus, rapunzel, swan lake, the diamond castle... and so on. 😆 The nostalgia is crazy, and they're kind of my comfort movies. Ahh, the simpler, innocent times!
The barbie online vlogs have the voice actor sit at a table and do the recording while wearing a motion tracking suit. That's why they were able to get fairly realistic movements with her arms and stuff in the animation. Also the barbie vlog about blm and racism does a pretty good job at explaining systemic racism to kids so there's that.
To answer your question about if the characters in that 3D movie were supposed to look like plastic on purpose, the answer is 100% yes. The movies started using that style after toy story 2 came out and some of the movies even like to cheekily imply that they take place in the same universe. That particular era had a lot of great meta jokes about it. My favorite is one where Barbie goes camping and she’s trying to start a file rubbing sticks together (that squeak like plastic) and all of a sudden she just looses it yelling “UGH! How am I supposed to start a fire with PLASTIC STICKS!?” I swear between the Barbie movies and the direct to video Cinderella sequels being such a riot low budget girls media is a lawless wasteland and I am living for it.
I hate to tell you, I know multiple people who STILL say Be-Tee-Dubs out loud. Also, I adore the dedication of painting your whole face blue for 1 jump cut. Also also, there is a Barbie cannon. So, like, they do this really cool thing where some of the movies are Barbie, as Barbie, who is cannonically an actor (at the moment) doing things, and then they have Barbie movies where Barbie is acting as someone else, like an actor. Ohkay, so, good example, in Barbie... In a Fashion Fairytale, I think?... There's this moment where they're looking for a hidden panel, and they stop and try to work out where it is, when Barbie goes 'oh, I acted in a movie where there was a hidden panel that you had to press, and you got a secret passageway!" which is actually a reference to Barbie and the Three Musketeers. My favorite Barbie film is Barbie and Three Musketeers, by the way. And, one other thing, I recently saw a Ken doll that you can shave, and the beard grows back. Which is awesome. I stopped collecting Barbies about 3 years ago in favor of Lego, but I still love the internally consistent cannon.
I am so surprised you haven't seen the original first 4 movies before! Rapunzel, Princess and the Pauper, The Nutcracker are my favorite. Oh and have you watched Miraculous Ladybug yet?
It's amazing how Erica from the princess and the pauper, being of a darker skin tone immediately turns 2 shades lighter when she puts on the blonde wig. 😹😹😹💔💔💔

I missed old Barbie movies with good stories and memorable characters especially meaningful songs. Many modern Barbie movies are too generic than the old ones. Princesses, popstars, fashion is too much in the modern movies. Barbie Starlight Adventure is one of the few modern Barbie movies that I think is amazing and unique. The recent movie (I forgot the title but the switch princess movie) is good so maybe the movies will get better.

I don’t think so. I own some Barbie Fashionista dolls. I love buying the black ones and the Asian ones and the Hispanic ones. I’m thankful, however I wish they had more made to move dolls
@onyx fyre I love them because it used to be so hard to find a doll that looked like me so it’s a breath of fresh air. Also I like their knees for some reason lol. My opinion
Honestly, I grew up with Barbie movies and Barbie dolls as a kid. I remember some of my favorite Barbie movies were Barbie in Swan Lake, Barbie and The Nutcracker, and Barbie as Rapunzel. The one I remember really loving was Barbie as Rapunzel since it just seemed so cool and, now that I'm older, creative how they handled that movie and it's story and magical objects and story beats. Highly recommend that one for an interesting movie, to say the least.

Shiver is one of the cutest pets Barbie ever had. Bibble is the best but shiver is my no.2
@Celestial Cielo Bro, did you try to teach your friend how to sing the believe song? Like I did, I want to know if I was the only one?
2001-2005: primarily fairy tales, excellent pacing, villain actually poses a threat, overall absolute masterpieces
2006-2015: switched from dolls on covers to CGI, animation style changes, fantasy themed (mermaids, fairies, with a few Christmas movies which also include magic), villains progressively less of a real threat but still interesting
2015-present: more real-world scenarios, with some sci-fi themed movies (space travel, spies), animation changed to a more 3D model appearance, includes relevant topics of today though still geared toward children, storytelling goes down (lazy writers?)
I would so read it
The economic theory makes me laugh though
"The nonrenewable resource is gone now! Let's replace it with this new nonrenewable resource from the same mine!"
I know it's a Barbie movie, but it's still a very unsafe thing to pin your entire country's economy on
I love your passion, and, honestly, same, I may just do an essay on it for fun someday
But, please, don't curse us with a Lion King or Mulan level remake of Barbie movies, for the love of everything that's good
I would rather have my eyes burned out that have to see these masterpieces and amazing songs being poorly butchered just for company profit
The only good remake possible would have to be made by a passioned team, for, like u said, better animation, with talented character designers and a decent director
But I really don't see it happening, unfortunately, Mattel doesn't seem interested, and bc of copyright and also money, no fan or indie company could do it
And, honestly, that's really a shame
I would love to see an earnest remake of so many barbie movies, they really deserve it, the stories are amazing and hilarious
The OG Barbie movies are definitely superior. “12 Dancing Princess” & “The Princess & the Pauper” are top tier 😊
Those two movies are my favorites! I never get tired of watching them no matter how old I get.

-Barbie and the Three Musketeers
-Barbie Fairytopia trilogy
-Barbie and the magic of the Pegasus
-Barbie in the 12 dancing princesses
-Barbie: Dolphin magic
Yes, but the characters really look terrible in the first Fairytopia and a bit awful in the sequel (I won't complain about Fairytopia 3). The movies are alright. I love the villain in Barbie: The Island Princess, because she has a backstory.
I use to watch 3 musketeers on repeat
The 12 dancing princesses and Barbie fairytopia were AMAZING!

SAME♡ I never see people talking about Island Princess:( but it's so goooood
Absolutely seconded! I loved Island Princess growing up.
Island princess is my favorite
Island Princess is my favorite Barbie movie too!
I love that movie, but Tika her elephant was the ABSOLUTE WORST 😭
I remember that when I first saw Barbie I was like: "I wanna live in a house like that! I want a closet like that! She looks so girly!" and I loved how she was independent but also girly as heck, she wasn't a bad girl or a boring business woman
The last Barbie movie that I really cared about was The Secret Door. Then Mattel tried too hard to be "hip" because of the huge presence of social media. Internet wasn't as present in 2004 so they took more liberties with the plot, and I think that was for the best. It made Barbie magical.
And yes, Life in the Dreamhouse is amazing. Fantastic.
You should definitely watch barbie in a Christmas carol it is really fun to see barbie portray a whole different personality other than the usual sweet and funny character we are used to.Also my favorite barbie movie for the longest time was barbie in the three musketeers but in general recommend any barbie movie that came out before 2012
I love the Barbie movies to 2001-2012 i don't recommand Any Barbie movie after 2012
The Barbie movies before 2012 were the golden years.
@@ThePoeticAngel no,the Barbie movies before 2013 were the Golden years,Barbie was good to 2001-2012 after 2012 the Barbie movies are boring
I made one of my Barbies a electrical tape outfit, many years later I realized it was more of an S&M suit because that's what I saw in a magazine at my cousin's house because he left it out and 6 year old me didn't know any better. 🤣
My recommendations for other Barbie Movies:
- Rapunzel (I'm still feeling satisfied whenever I watch the ending)
- Nutcracker (The music of Tschaikowsky, the colors and the storyline, especially the twist at the end (if you want to call it that way). It's my all-time favorite Barbie movie)
- Swan Princess (The music of Tschaikowsky and the lighting during some parts of this movie make it a candy for your eyes and ears)
- the first two Fairytopia movies are not as great as the earlier movies, but still good (and I still believe that they carry strong messages for young girls)
Basically I believe all earlier movies were better than the new ones.
These are my favorites too :)
I am starting to hate newer Barbie movies ever since Thumbelina.
I agree with you on this- other than Barbie and the pink shoes. That shit slaps
@@L16htW4rr10r Agreed! Since Thumbelina it stopped being good with Barbie Princess Charm School being the only exception for me.
"Barbie in the Three Musketeers" was my favorite as a kid.
you should watch Startlight adventure, visually its the best barbie movie and I will not be told otherwise.
also Island princess because that is a barbie movie about a murder plot, im not kiding... or exaggerating-
She wants to kill the whole royal family because her family got in trouble for doing the same thing
Also she was a borderline sugar baby
For barbie movie recommendations, most of the older princess movies are a safe bet. Rapunzel is one of my favorites, it definitely stands out for me as an adaptation of the fairy tale. Princess charm school also holds a special place in my heart.
I love This movies but i love too,Island Princess,Princess and the popstar and diamond castle and of course,12 dancing Princess
Remember when Barbie introduced a line of dolls that were made to represent every type of body type (and some even with skin conditions)? That was pretty cool
Barbie as The Island Princess. That one sticks in my mind as one of my favorites as a child.
it's a very good movie and is one of my favs

Strangely enough I’ve become more interested in Barbie as an adult thanks to youtubers like Hextian and Azusa Barbie. The way the brand has stayed relevant is super impressive and I love that they’re open to changing in order to keep up.
The princess and the pauper is SO GOOD. It's legit one of my favourite movies and it had a massive impact on my childhood
Me too. I even wanted the dolls so much. At the end I only own a Erika dolls. I want Annelise as well..
I had Barbies growing up, I also was overweight. It never once crossed my mind that I had to look like her. Perhaps children aren't impressionable as as adults make them out to be.
I liked the CGI Barbie movies; they made my childhood. I just don’t care much for the newer ones
The jokes and sloppy writing makes me wince a little bit
It’s the overall voice, personality, and design for me for the”Dreamhouse Adventures-present versions that bug-eyed bootlegged “thing” ain’t Barbie. 😣
And talking about sensitive topics like depression. She is iconic as she has always been
I love it too. Especially when they let her talk about racism. I do want to see Barbie acting in more stories like the old movies too, however.
Lillie: “Wait a minute Lillie doll... I’m now wondering how I look barbizied?”
*Lillie sees herself as gamer barbie outfit then a Princess then Malibu summer design*
“That would be a royal cute but also gaming nightmare.”
I love coming back to this series where you talk about these shows, the topics are so nostalgic and your take on it/humour is refreshing lol
To me, those were the "originals", because they were some of the first stories I watched and liked. No one can say otherwise, haha
"We were too busy torturing our dolls to care" - Negative Legend
Barbie is the Conan O'Brien of toys, constantly adapting to our more technology driven world WITHOUT feeling like a sellout...most of the time anyway
How am I supposed to start a fire with PLASTIC STICKS!?”
I swear between the Barbie movies and the direct to video Cinderella sequels being such a riot low budget girls media is a lawless wasteland and I am living for it.
I went onto Netflix a few days ago, and I literally went, “wait. There’s no more seasons?”
(BTw I'm one of them 😳 I blame it on having lived in CA 😅)
