Angel's friends is a perfect example of a show that needs to be redone because it truly has great bones but it was made poorly if it got a rewrite for the second season and better animation it would be a really awesome show

Honestly, this might be the ideal show to give an “edgy” reboot-a lot of fans acknowledge how much of a mess it is, and the plot line is pretty decent to build up on. I can’t imagine many people would care in the same way they cared about the winx reboot, at least

I owe my obsession with the enemies to lovers trope to Raf and Sulfus. These bitches had one intense dynamic. I mean, we got the forbidden romance, the hate to love, the fact that they couldn't even touch without it breaking the rules, the constant teasing and competitiveness, the "my angel" lines, the intense stares and the most scandalous kiss scene my 10 year old self had ever seen. As cringy as the show in its entirety seems to me now, I'll never not love Raf and Sulfus.
I LOVED Angle's Friends as a kid, I LIVED for the romance between Raf and Sulfus! I was devastated when the show didn't continue. To this day I still have the opening song play in my head from time to time. Looking at it now, it is amazing how much my child mind edited over the terrible lip sync.
They should have made Raph's mom a prophet or something like that, or Reyna because having a child between a human & an angel was a big taboo biblically and Ralph being a half breed would have been interesting

i wouldn’t say the writing is bad. They clearly had more planned on the series after season 2 but never did it. There was so much more things that could’ve been learnt especially about raf’s mother as well.
A reboot is only justified when the original had great potential but poor execution, and with better writing, effects, and a bigger budget could give it the life it deserved. Angel's Friends needs a reboot.

I actually hear a lot of staple 4kids voice actors in this besides Dan Green and Jason Griffith. Mike Pollock is voicing the angel headmaster, and I definitely heard Lisa Ortiz playing several roles.

I binged the first season in bed while I was recovering from getting my molars extracted and all I remember is how freaking invested I was in the angel/demon romance. So it's nice to hear they got a happy ending.

It makes sense but it's not really good. A lot of languages have names mean actual thing. (The closest I can think of is russian, where Vera / Lubovj / Nadezhda all mean Faith, Love and Hope.) But they are not meant to be translated. Same as places are not translated.

In her introduction scene her friend says "She's Sweet, I mean her name is Sweet" and Sweet says "I'm sweet like sugar, ice cream..." and there are a lot of similar lines (like "She's Sweet both in name and personality") so, I think that if they kept it "Dolce" it wouldn't make much sense and the name would lose its meaning (But I have to admit, Sweet is a little cringy as a name in English) (Also, I don't know why I over analysed the translation choices of an unknown Italian kids show, I'm sorry 😐)

Italian here too and yes, I agree, but I think that's funny too, you know. This series has become some sort of cult classic (both ironically and unironically) considering also the huge amount of fan-content fuel it offers due to its actually interesting concepts combined with lackluster writing and the lack of a proper conclusion. The cheaply animated Winx Club knock-off (do you think they just "happened" to pick the Mondo TV pilot over the Stranemani one because they liked it better or because it was more profitable marketing-wise?) aired on Italia 1 first and Boing later, that hadn't even got an actual finale (neither the comics for that matter, but had they picked the Stranemani pilot things would have been way different, I can bet it) being discussed about by foreigners more than Italians even though it's an Italian series what we're talking about: that's so weirdly funny. U didn’t watch the movie, I am guessing? Since it concluded the story when Raf and Sulfus actually found and went through to become humans. I loved the movie, it also brought some old characters.
There is a movie, but it is set between the first and second season. In the movie, Raf and Sulfus don't decide to become humans, but they actually find out about a way in which they can become humans, the 'Path of Metamorphosis.' In the end, they promise each other that they will consider wether the want to go through the Path of Metamorphoses so that they can be free to love each other, which is where season 2 starts off. At the end of season 2, that's when they decide that they will become human, but we never see that happening due to the show's cancellation.
It's weird how if the concepts and ideas from Angel's Friends were executed competently, we could have gotten a series like Good Omens. Because the forbidden relationship of Raf and Sulfus and the war between Heaven and Hell give me so much Good Omens to them and it could have been great if it was executed better.
I'm Italian and I still have the comic!! (not all the volumes but many of them) Guys, belive me, the comic was SO GOOD. The character design, the story.. I loved it! Then, I don't know why, it was abruptly interrupted. In the last volume I got, they announced the decision to make the comic a web comic and to continue it in their official website.. but that never happened. Instead, they made this show, that compared to the comic, is literally trash. I remember being so disappointed! They changed so many things, the quality in general is so low, it looks like a bad version of Winx.. Anyway, thank you for the video, loved it! I was going to say exactly the same thing, they totally ruined the comic version, they transformed the story in a kid's show when it was a more teenage story, The characters became some sort of cutie version of the original drawings and everything went south after that. I really liked this show as a teen (cause I found out about it when I was about 11ish, long after seeing every winx club, totally spies, witch and scoobie doo episode. btw I'm a 17 year old from Poland). The polish dub was actually really good and I loved the first season and the movie. Tho I have to say the plot of the second one was not as good, but the relationship of Raf and Sulfus ( Siarkus - in polish) was soooo good. Literally the best romatic tension in a kids animation. I was really bumbed to find out there was no season three, especially since it ended on a cliff hanger.
I’m 20 and same! I loved our dub, it was actually pretty good and imo much better than the English one. This show actually started my obsession on the enemies to lovers trope. The main concept of the show is actually really good and with better animation, more mature theme and less plot holes it would make an incredible show.
I know it is a franchise that's still running, but if you haven't checked it out I think you would love and could do a great job talking about the Pretty Cure franchise.

As a rewatcher of angel friends and hoping this comment doesn't get lost, have u watched the movie? It is the middle between season 1 and season 2 and give some backstory to them becoming humans through going through the stages and how the previous angel n devil couple that they met before failed but they want to try together. It makes some of plot of season 2 make sense.
One thing you didn't know about, which not many people do, is that it was actually based on a comic of the same name. The main plot was different but the premise was somewhat the same. The main difference besides the character designs is that on the comic the angels and devils are much younger, and Raf was actually in love with a human. There's actually a trailer for the comic on UA-cam in english dub.
The story in Angel’s Friends is super good. The delivery is super bad. It sucks because I was actually invested at some points in the show and then the bad delivery ruined it :| Also I kinda liked the episodes with the humans?? Idk it was sort of nice to see, my favorite one was the grotto arc. Also they hardly used the ‘Angel’s Friends’ spell lol
This reminds me of a book series called Angel Academy, where the girl dies and wakes up in heaven to train as a guardian angel and she falls in love with a demon. You should read it, the stories are quite short but written well :)

I think it would have been better if Malachai wasn't killed like that. It would have been much better if they had him go back to his life and see him and Raph building a relationship maybe even giving her advice in s2 leading to a better writen conflict between her and the other angels

Also, I have a few news to share. So I found out that Angel Friends was discontinued because the director Orlando Corradi passed away, and they decided not to continue the show. Many people are saying the author passed away, and that got me puzzled, that is not true. Simona Ferri is the author of the Italian series Angel friends, and she is still alive, I found her instagram account when I did research. I understand why people are hoping for season 3, I am too. There is a live movie called "Darkly" from 2016, but based on what I read from tiktok, people are saying Sulfus, Raf, and Reina both die. I never watched the movie, but it does sound dark, and I'm not planning to watch it. I also don't think angel friends season 3 will be done, because season 2 came out in 2012, it's 2024 right now, which is way too long. This show needs to get a reboot, but luckily the fans are alive, and people wrote season 3 Wattpad stories so you can take a read.
I adored the comic as a child, and my favorite character was Miki, the badass inuk-coded best friend. I never even touched the cartoon when I found out they cut her.
Maaaan angel and demon version of winx club sounds like a great concept on paper so it's a crying shame season 2 flopped so hard... It would have been a great direction of Reina was actually trying to help the two instead sincerely and they both ended up turning against the school but its clear that's expecting too much from the writers. 😔
My super obscure magical girl guilty pleasure!! Honestly though, I like a lot of the concepts of this series. The shoulder angel/devil in battle thing, the lore, the big bad trying to get the MC's to hookup for her plot, Raf's family mystery with her kidnapped mom and henchman dad tied to both Big Bad's story etc Kind of wished they where in a better executed series.

It makes sense but it's not really good. A lot of languages have names mean actual thing. (The closest I can think of is russian, where Vera / Lubovj / Nadezhda all mean Faith, Love and Hope.) But they are not meant to be translated. Same as places are not translated.

In her introduction scene her friend says "She's Sweet, I mean her name is Sweet" and Sweet says "I'm sweet like sugar, ice cream..." and there are a lot of similar lines (like "She's Sweet both in name and personality") so, I think that if they kept it "Dolce" it wouldn't make much sense and the name would lose its meaning (But I have to admit, Sweet is a little cringy as a name in English) (Also, I don't know why I over analysed the translation choices of an unknown Italian kids show, I'm sorry 😐)

Italian here too and yes, I agree, but I think that's funny too, you know. This series has become some sort of cult classic (both ironically and unironically) considering also the huge amount of fan-content fuel it offers due to its actually interesting concepts combined with lackluster writing and the lack of a proper conclusion. The cheaply animated Winx Club knock-off (do you think they just "happened" to pick the Mondo TV pilot over the Stranemani one because they liked it better or because it was more profitable marketing-wise?) aired on Italia 1 first and Boing later, that hadn't even got an actual finale (neither the comics for that matter, but had they picked the Stranemani pilot things would have been way different, I can bet it) being discussed about by foreigners more than Italians even though it's an Italian series what we're talking about: that's so weirdly funny.

There is a movie, but it is set between the first and second season. In the movie, Raf and Sulfus don't decide to become humans, but they actually find out about a way in which they can become humans, the 'Path of Metamorphosis.' In the end, they promise each other that they will consider wether the want to go through the Path of Metamorphoses so that they can be free to love each other, which is where season 2 starts off. At the end of season 2, that's when they decide that they will become human, but we never see that happening due to the show's cancellation.
It's weird how if the concepts and ideas from Angel's Friends were executed competently, we could have gotten a series like Good Omens. Because the forbidden relationship of Raf and Sulfus and the war between Heaven and Hell give me so much Good Omens to them and it could have been great if it was executed better.

Guys, belive me, the comic was SO GOOD. The character design, the story.. I loved it! Then, I don't know why, it was abruptly interrupted. In the last volume I got, they announced the decision to make the comic a web comic and to continue it in their official website.. but that never happened. Instead, they made this show, that compared to the comic, is literally trash. I remember being so disappointed! They changed so many things, the quality in general is so low, it looks like a bad version of Winx..

I was going to say exactly the same thing, they totally ruined the comic version, they transformed the story in a kid's show when it was a more teenage story, The characters became some sort of cutie version of the original drawings and everything went south after that.

Purtroppo lo hanno stravolto così tanto da farlo diventare qualcosa di completamente diverso.. Da uno stile super puccioso, paffuto e originale sono passati a uno anoressico e completamente asettico 😑 per non parlare della caratterizzazione dei personaggi.. È un vero peccato, perché aveva un enorme potenziale secondo me, come fumetto italiano!

I really liked this show as a teen (cause I found out about it when I was about 11ish, long after seeing every winx club, totally spies, witch and scoobie doo episode. btw I'm a 17 year old from Poland). The polish dub was actually really good and I loved the first season and the movie. Tho I have to say the plot of the second one was not as good, but the relationship of Raf and Sulfus ( Siarkus - in polish) was soooo good. Literally the best romatic tension in a kids animation. I was really bumbed to find out there was no season three, especially since it ended on a cliff hanger.
I’m 20 and same! I loved our dub, it was actually pretty good and imo much better than the English one. This show actually started my obsession on the enemies to lovers trope. The main concept of the show is actually really good and with better animation, more mature theme and less plot holes it would make an incredible show.
I know it is a franchise that's still running, but if you haven't checked it out I think you would love and could do a great job talking about the Pretty Cure franchise.

As a rewatcher of angel friends and hoping this comment doesn't get lost, have u watched the movie? It is the middle between season 1 and season 2 and give some backstory to them becoming humans through going through the stages and how the previous angel n devil couple that they met before failed but they want to try together. It makes some of plot of season 2 make sense.

One thing you didn't know about, which not many people do, is that it was actually based on a comic of the same name. The main plot was different but the premise was somewhat the same. The main difference besides the character designs is that on the comic the angels and devils are much younger, and Raf was actually in love with a human. There's actually a trailer for the comic on UA-cam in english dub.
The story in Angel’s Friends is super good. The delivery is super bad. It sucks because I was actually invested at some points in the show and then the bad delivery ruined it :|

Man I loved angel's friends when I was little, I would love to see a reboot or something of that kind because I truly believe it has so much potential
Also, I have a few news to share.
So I found out that Angel Friends was discontinued because the director Orlando Corradi passed away, and they decided not to continue the show. Many people are saying the author passed away, and that got me puzzled, that is not true. Simona Ferri is the author of the Italian series Angel friends, and she is still alive, I found her instagram account when I did research. I understand why people are hoping for season 3, I am too. There is a live movie called "Darkly" from 2016, but based on what I read from tiktok, people are saying Sulfus, Raf, and Reina both die. I never watched the movie, but it does sound dark, and I'm not planning to watch it. I also don't think angel friends season 3 will be done, because season 2 came out in 2012, it's 2024 right now, which is way too long. This show needs to get a reboot, but luckily the fans are alive, and people wrote season 3 Wattpad stories so you can take a read.
I loved this series so so much, I'm so glad people haven't forgot about it, thanks for the great video👼👿

Maaaan angel and demon version of winx club sounds like a great concept on paper so it's a crying shame season 2 flopped so hard... It would have been a great direction of Reina was actually trying to help the two instead sincerely and they both ended up turning against the school but its clear that's expecting too much from the writers. 😔

Honestly though, I like a lot of the concepts of this series. The shoulder angel/devil in battle thing, the lore, the big bad trying to get the MC's to hookup for her plot, Raf's family mystery with her kidnapped mom and henchman dad tied to both Big Bad's story etc
Kind of wished they where in a better executed series.
