  • Welcome to part 2 of our 3-part DIY series on replacing the N55 engine in a 2011 BMW F10 535i xDrive. In this video, we'll be taking a used engine and getting it ready for installation.
First, we'll be placing the engine on a stand and tearing it down. Then, we'll be replacing the following gaskets to ensure a smooth and reliable repair:
    Valve cover gasket
    Oil filter housing gasket
    Oil pan gasket
    Front crank seal
With these gaskets replaced, the engine will be ready for installation. In the next part of the series, we'll be showing you how to install the engine and finally get the car back on the road.

You'll definitely have to reset some parameters with ISTA. Such as flywheel calibration, increment wheel reset, recode the injectors etc.. I'm sure you can get the engine started without doing these but they will optimize the engines performance.
