i removed the starter disc but i dont remember seeing that magnetic piece your talking about, could it be stuck to the back of the disc? on an n54 engine. this just n55 specifically?
Pretty sure on the n54 too. But I would make sure. Check realoem.com to verify!
ill sub but i have ad blocker 🤣
Hey I have Passat 2011 1.6 tdi oil leak top engine can use this?
Yup!
No worries, the Oil Pan Gasket will come right after the rear crank seal 😉
Lol, don't jinx it!
( my opinion) beware once you find the leaks ya gotta cleanout the fluid. if its Radiator dye do a full flush or it will contaminate any future fluid you use even a little dye left over will change your fluids color. i wouldnt use it in any other place that cant be flushed without damaging stuff like the oil or gas departments
Good tip!
Accidently I ordered the coolant dye , can I use it for power steering pump?
Not sure about that. I would get my hands on the proper dye to make sure!
you can only use it once. how do you clean the dye off once you find the leak.
Brake cleaner works
If you don’t have an oil leak on a bmw then there’s a problem
If you cant detect an oil leak then take it to a repair man instead of putting into your engine that might seiz your engine!! OMG 😂😂😂
This is what it's designed for 🤷♂️, no chance of seizing anything lol
You make it look easy my guy 💯
do u have to remove all the oil first?
No
Here's a tip, to avoid oil leaks, drain the oil and run the car without it.
@@dasun2960your so smart
HOW LONG DID THIS TAKE?
About 3 days total from start to finish
What kind of light is that?
UV flashlight!
I have a R320 CDI and I am planning to swap it on a Ml320 Bluetec. Are they interchangeable and what else you think might be needed? I am sure both are 0m642
I'm not 100% sure but I would compare the oil pans first and foremost
Hi, nice video! I've similarly destroyed engine on my F20 :) Also cylinder 3, n55 2014 ewg. Question: how did you make your crank turn to access all torque converter bolts?
Mine rotated fine as the connecting rod was completely gone. You might need a really long breaker bar.
@eurotechca Thanks for the reply! My conrod is also totally separated, botom part is freely spining on the crank. I can move it with my fingers via that massive hole, lol., I will remove the whole front end of a car, pull the engine and transmission trough front and try it again on the ground, but I'm bit skeptical. It seems seizes pretty bad. I already removed spark plugs, but there was no change.
Did you have to reprogram to ECU or anyting if it's the same year motor I'm doing the same thing right
I'm not sure if you 100% need to, but I did reset all engine related parameters using ISTA
You can't fix oil leaks on beamers, its a normal feature from the factory
Haha automatic undercoating
😂😂

Am looking for used Mercedes-Benz ML 320 CDI 4MATIC engine. Engine No.WDC1641221A135926
Have to change oil after ?
The UV dye is fully compatible with engine oil and can safely remain in the system. That said, oil should be changed when you fix the oil leak. 👍
LiquiMoly MolyGen has a die as well, this is a good solution as well
👆👍
So what really caused the engine to explode?
I'm not sure, the car was purchased with the blown engine. That said, I may teardown the damaged engine soon to find answers.
Is it easy to replace a engine? How much would it cost to replace a 2011 bmw 535i gran turismo engine?
A used n55 will cost around 4-6000$ in Canada plus labour costs for replacement. I wouldn't say it is an easy job, it involves alot of hours of work and special equipment/tools. Thanks for watching
Is it worth for profit? Ive got space and time and tools. If i buy a 2010 535 for $1000 and buy new engine and install new engine and sell car, someone will buy yeah? @eurotechca
Or. Break all the bolts before you raise the tire? Learned that in high school
Agreed. This vid is meant for when we forget. 🙂
how about you do it like all professional mechanics and crack the wheel nuts before you jack the wheel off the ground
Even the pros forget sometimes 😉
Or use an impact that is worth using 😂
💯
😂 or go to the dealership and save yourself some money :-)
🤣
@@eurotechcabro I love this. Lmao.
@@eurotechcamy gf was like stop spending so much money on the car. Lol haven’t seen nothing yet. See what happens when I take it to the dealer lol
Or become smart and educate yourself and save yourself thousands of dollars.
@@anorsegoddess9797 you know if you learned how to sew you could make your own jeans and cover alls and I bet it's not too hard to make a hat and a hat while you're at educate yourself and make some cotton socks maybe throw in a little while to stay warm in the winter months:-)
What was you pumping fluid in it for
Vacuum filling the coolant system to prevent trapped air. BMW recommends filling cooling system this way before the bleed procedure. Thanks for watching!
Hi Bro. Can you tell me what did you do with gearbox during and after engine removal? Did you supported gearbox when it was without engine or it was fix free ? Regards from Poland.
Thanks for watching! I used a block of wood and floor jack to support the gearbox and made sure the wood was on the aluminum, not the plastic oil pan.
The E320 has OM642 too but it looks different than the Sprinters engine. Do you think I can still do a swap of those engines?
They made multiple om642 engines with varying outputs. Although they are interchangeable for the most part, It's best to match your engine codes best you can.
Hey sorry for a real layman's question... On a 2010 ml cdi 350 ( 6 cylinder 3.0l) If the intercooler or the engine had a major issue, i am toying with the idea of putting in an an american muscle car chevy type engine nothing crazy but seen some new v8 430hp engines. Is it possible to do a transplant? Are the electronics just too difficult to overcome with various computers for different functions of the vehicle ie getting suspension and driving modes to talk to the new engine? Cheers richard in New Zealand
What if I can’t even see the seal anymore ?
Did you lose your serpentine belt?
N20? Front crank seal. Yikes
Thankfully, it's a N55, so not so bad
Question.. I’m also doing an engine swap on my 11 535 xdrive. Would you said removing the engine attached to the transmission would be easier?
From my perspective, I prefer to remove the engine assembly only. This way, I avoid dropping the exhaust, removing shields and driveshaft, drain trans, on top of having to fish out the trans. But as they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat!
Very good job ! Question : what is your program for all the technical spec ? I'm looking for the tightening torques of the cylinder head and the timming chain
Thanks! I find them online through research and various bmw forums.
MB NEVER GOOD CAR 🤣🤣🤣
Haha!
What did the new engine cost you?
6k CAD 😭
@@eurotechca Oh my lord😨 I need to get rid of my 135i. I don't have that kinda money
Great Video ! Good Job.... Next Month want to Removal CLS350 CDI / Bluetec Enjine. This Video Help me tomuch. Thanks for Video
Thanks for watching and good luck!
Did you ever do the install of the CDI motor
What year was the new engine?
2011
@@eurotechca I have a 2012 n55 and I have a engine from a 2011 do you think except for the starter do I need to swap anything else over?
@@gmanvuk7740 I'm not 100% sure but i think you might have to swap the HPFP and maybe more. Best to compare them thoroughly when the engine is out.
great work im abouth to do same thing im putting a 2013 f10 535 engine in a 2012 f10 535 will i have to do so programing on ecu or is direct replacement? tnx
You'll definitely have to reset some parameters with ISTA. Such as flywheel calibration, increment wheel reset, recode the injectors etc.. I'm sure you can get the engine started without doing these but they will optimize the engines performance.
Hey quick question @pattycam does the flex plate have to sit in a certain orientation on the n55 for TDC on cylinder 1
@osbm100 There should be a dowel on the crank hub that ligns up to a corresponding hole on the flex plate. Hope that helps!
I am curious why you chose to go out the top? I have a 2014 that I am planning to do soon, I am thinking it will be a lot easier to just drop the entire subframe out the bottom
I measured and I did not have enough clearance while using jack stands. That said, if I had a 2 post lift, I would take it out of the bottom.
That is correct
BMW LOL
Right? Lol
its normal, its free rust prevention.

If ur doing front crank seal... I hope it's not after a serpentine belt went in like mine
Replaced due to leak. Hopefully the belt didn't cause more damage to yours! Thanks for watching.

Great video ! Good job….!!! Sorry to bother you, I just swapped my engine on a W164 and have difficulty lining it up to the transmission…. Cause of the angle, height etc etc. Is it recommended to do that part with help from anyone. Or should it be a one man job ?
Sorry for late reply. You can do it solo. It only takes a little longer 😋
