Ive heard Shane slur, ive heard him forget lyrics, ive hear him sing out of time, but ive never ever heard him sing out of tune, he had perfect pitch. Genius.
someone give that drummer an award, for god sake...legend
He's Ace ! Andy "The Clobberer" Rankin.
And yet Spider couldn't manage 2 beats on the beer tray in time!
The drummer gets laid first, raw-dog, always. (That's why the drummer always has to have a day job; because he has lots of illegitimate kids, not to mention his wife/merch-wench, and the cost of driving around his drums and his kids in his gas-guzzling van, etc) ... Then the lead singer gets some, and then the guitar guy, and so on down the line. The bass-player gets the sloppy seconds/thirds and everyone else's STDs, but he has more fun than anyone.
Love this minimal punky style!
I was there, with school, at 16...
Beyond words now.. Didn't understand nothing beyond Punk.. 20:14 > i was impressed by that slap on thee head.

Watching this on the day of Shane's funeral. What gifts he left us!
Sometimes we dont know what we have till is gone, rip shane, you made Irish people proud
rest in paradise darling Shane a Pogue fan forever we miss you so already
Great recording, the Pouges at their best!!!Rest in peace Shane, we love you
Huge piece of history. Cheers to all fans of the Pogues, and R.I.P. to those who left the stage forever. Came here 2 days after Shane died.
No surrender. We live on
R.I.P LEGEND 👍👌💪💪💪💪😰😰😰⛑
Am I the only one that thinks it’s insane what that man can do with a couple of well tuned drums? Cheers🙏
The sound Andrew could get out of the minimal drum kit was impressive
@@HerFatherDidntLikeMe the Clubberer
@@Redadeg72*Clobberer
No, you're not on your own with this, it's more of a drummer thing.
He was extremely skilled.
Who needs a drum kit.
What a Feckin show!
Einfach nur geile Musik
Gotta love Spyder casually beating himself in the head with a dustbin lid to the beat 😂 RIP Shane, absolute legend
I miss live music, rocking out in a pit, getting pushed up against a stage, the smells of sweat, alcohol, etc all in the air. No one holding up a cell phone to record the moment, just being present in the moment and the music. I miss it so much, it hurts.
Ain't that the truth!
RIP Shane from Corsica
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant
Bravo my Friends from Irlande
Shane MacGowan......probably the finest lyricist of my generation. Pure genius
SHANE HAS GOT TWO ALBUMS 5* * * * * SNAKE, THE CROCK....
Pure Pogue. Young, strong and authentic
God rest you Shane. Will be different to listen to Fairytale of New York this year will be sad, We miss you.
That's lovely seeing this young German audience dancing to the Pogues - Music is a language we can all understand.
I'm a younger fan, Only became a pogues fan this year, RIP Shane
Don't fall for all the crap about him loving drink and drugs, he was a genius and done his best work in the first three albums but he was an addict alcoholic and never done anything good again. The drunk joke is not the real him. This kid was considered a genius even as a kid and got a scholarship to Westminster private school
I am Japanese.but I love their great music.
You no there all English
You don't have to be Irish to like The Pogues but it helps.
So sorry i didn’t get to see them live but at least I have it on my phone,Shane is and always a brilliant and talented artist. All the Pogues are amazing musicians and love all their songs.RIP Shane 🇮🇪🙏
Absolutely Pogues at their prime. Filthy, beautiful punk rock
This is by far the best live recording of a Pogues concert!! Such a strong example of a band at the height of their form, I don't often watch a full concert 2 nights running but you just can't stop watching this.
Oiöö0
he was contact by serge gainsbourg himself, one of master of poetry, to destroy to make a collaboration .....
they re respecting each other
I'm here.May 1st 2023....love you all
Some of later ones especially Shane Macgowan and the popes he was just hammered all the time and just mumbling words 😢 here is completely with it .
RIP Shane McGowan TY for the years of effort to make us smile. You will be missed.
This is one of the best 38 minutes of live music ever recorded, IMHO. The execution, energy and talent hits on all cylinders. When the Pogues were on, they were as good as it gets.
The chap playing the flute is fabulous ! Rip shawn .❤❤
@@carolburke9153 Flute? No flute there!
3-23-24 Still listening and LOVING the Pogues. What an awesome Band
WOW MAGIC BRILLANT SUCH A FAB BAND#*CHARISMA FROM ALL IN BAND AND THE ONE AND ONLY SHANE.THANK TOU RIP❤🙏☘️
Shane McGowan was a gift from above. An absolute poet
So true I couldn't have put it better 😊
Indeed he was
Props to Cait O‘Riordan … and Shane at his best. RIP Shane❤
thanks for uploading. rip to shane. what a life he lived
Super awesome sound! fuck yes!
Oui. Oser. Et chanter avec cette rage qui nous émerveille. De France
This is probably the Best Shane's performance ever, his voice was really powerful back then and he looks healthy here
ua-cam.com/video/1SigvSdzIWU/v-deo.html
Of course, he had hundret barrels of German beer.
It's amazing how youth can abuse their bodies so much and still bounce back. But we all pay the dues eventually.
It's a weird one... All Shane wanted was to stop touring for a bit to try and get his brain right but of course you had label ppl when they still had the power saying "go on it'll get easier after this" according to Shane it got "increasingly worse" (the work schedule) Victoria reckoned at the end by the time he and the pogues were falling apart Shane had to have a bottle of Gin to even FACE the crowd. Great to see him here, vibrant. Full of belief. Maith an Fear there Shane from not too far away from the oul boorisokane. Bejaysus u knew how to write em ya did.
Fantastic concert , RIP Shane. 🏴
What a privilege it would have been to them in concert at the top of their game as it is in the case here
死にたくなるほど好き
先月ティンホイッスルを購入しました
"One summer evening drunk to hell, I sat there nearly lifeless." Shane accompanied me on so many drunken tube rides home in London back in the nineties. RIP my brother.
I saw the Pogues maybe 6 times live and Shane and the Popes maybe 10 Times or more , in total i Think i was on more than 1000 live Shows but al Shows with Shane was the most and best memorable Shows ❤❤❤
YO ESTUVE ALLÍ..
1985 TENIA 21 AÑOS , ESTABA TRABAJANDO..
INOLVIDABLE...🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
It’s almost jolting to hear Shane so sober live. He is a genius.
How do you know?
Nah he could just hold his liquor more back then. Check out 4:20 lol he takes a swig after almost every song
@@amazonguitar22hahahah but I do not believe Long Island iced tea yet had become his drink of choice!
He’s himself always has been
Highly doubt he's sober. The drink just hasn't turned on him yet 🍻
My first !!! live Konzert in my life and the beginning of a long journey RIP Shane
This has got to be one of the very best pieces of footage of The Pogues at their peak. Shane's voice is just fantastic. Such great energy from the band. . Wish I was there.
Been there. Was great, I love to see this gig over and over again
Great, the band playing at their best, Shane together, not drunk out of his mind. Pure brilliance.
@@augsburgerpunker4330 Hey Mann, weißt noch in welchem Loch das war in München? Heute sagt man ja Venue dazu....
@@augsburgerpunker4330 wasn't born but top three gigs wish I could've seen is this, Bob dylan in 66 and the smiths
I have been there too. And a year later i have seen them in a Roadtrip around Italy. A few of concerts i have reached late and we followed them to see one Gig from the beginning. It was in Carpi. Organized from the youth of the comunithm party. It was great
inmortal Shane! Irish Soul is Eternal
Shane's voice is so soulful and powerful here, what a great frontman he was,the real deal
He was a good singer 1984 - 1990
Yeah knowing that teeth eff3xt the voice no one could accendentely coppie this. Nothing bad btw
You prolly dont care but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Aries Nathaniel instablaster :)
Come on Shane...never forgotten.
I remember the Pogues and Shane best from concerts like this. THIS was a really good experience.
RIP @Shane and have a lot of fun. - So sad that you've passed away. :(
This footage is the nuts i would of been 17 at the time they did this & its a shame i never saw it live cos oddly enough i was in munich in october 1985 for the munchen Oktoberfest beer festival! so wish i'd been there for this! Rip Shane your a true legend! ❤
Tschüß mein Freund !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I first saw them this year,1985, Battersea Park in London. Aged 19, i instantly fell in love.
I love how, even with all the folk instruments, the punks still mosh, which is proof that punk was never meant to be limited
Punk is an attitude.
Now this is Shane MacGowans voice, pure brilliance and a Master songwriter
YESSS ! Plus contrary to what all idiots say : he is handsome in spite of his teeth. Lovely thin face, tall and beautiful piercing-gaze-blue eyes ! Lovely Shane ! A French female admirer (from a Frog !) !!!!
In comparison, the one who outstandingly plays tin whistle is very ugly to me. He really looks like some plain French men here ; very common looking man ! Sorry for nastiness !
.... and guitarist!
Master? Is there something above that. Cause
It's always Shane no matter what, he just sounds better to you and me at times, but it's always Shane, God bless him for he blessed us
God bless you shane 🙏 ❤️
He had an amazing band behind him for sure.
God rest his soul. We all love you forever, Shane ❤
I would never put down Shane, but it's cool to see him like this, young and vital.
You can actually see how shane was a band leader when he was as sober/lucid as he is here..they're waiting and working off exactly what he wants. They're picking up what he's putting down! Great feckin vid man.
Es sun duda la mejor versión de esta triste canción , que es única...
Viva the pougues....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
…complete Performance…miss u from the bottom of my Heart…Rest in Peace
The band played waltzing Matilda is their song now
These guys were fantastic
Amazing
"Funny" as people have to die before I hear about them!
Great music!
May the Lord be with him :)
The best band of the 80s; Shane in his prime and such a strong, powerful voice until the "If I should fall from grace with God" album.
My fav frontman and what a great band they all were!
If only he had managed to stop drinking back in 1985.
What an amazing performance. Best I've ever seen on UA-cam.
He tried and tried and went to detox and rehab but kept relapsing but it's never said as he became a figure of someone who enjoyed what he became but that's pride and ego
Artiste formidable 😢
Thanks for the good Times. We never forget you ! RiF
A pair of brown eyes... Old irish magic right there, wonder if i'll get a taste of it one day...
so schone, so vichtig ! danke freunde !
Absolutely brilliant Shane McGowan right in his prime 👏 The master the poet the absolute Genius love it 👍
Yeah, der Soundtrack meiner Jugend! … Farewell, Shane!
It doesn't get any better than this. I was lucky enough to have seen this lineup in 1984 support Elvis Costello at The Top Rank in Brighton. Time stood still when they played A Pair of Brown Eyes. I knew they had something special.
Wow, have never heard Shane sing so well and sound so relatively sober as here. Fantastic set!
Nigelxman Relatively being key. Several shots of whiskey and hit from the crack pipe is sober for him
he does sound fairly sober in his younger days.. quite often
His voice doesn't sound raspy like on later records
Germany had run out of whiskey.
I liked him drunk personally, I related more :)
Another great Irish poet. His songs will last forever. I saw him singing them as often as could. Battersea Park in 1985 til Thetford Forest in 2014. Liverpool Fèis etc.
One of the best live performances ever, by anyone. It being one of my favorite bands of all time makes it all that much moreish. This is The Dead at Cornell 5/8/77, The Band's Last Waltz, Queen at Live Aid, The Who at Woodstock, etc. Phenomenal performance and the entire band is on fucking fire. Bass way up in the mix, killer set list, Shane remembers most of the lyrics, and enunciates quite well. For Shane. All timer. Thank you, Shane and the rest of the band. Thank you!
Where in the World are there 35 soulless backyards who have given this a thumbs down ?
Shane tu nous manques tellement en Bretagne mon ami pour toujours 😢😢❤
Just came across this evening.Wow! Never saw Shane sing better than this. What an exceptional talent he had.
Still has!
RIP Shane... you will be missed, and I'll love your music. I first saw the Pogues in Manheim, Germany. I think it was 1986, and since then I was an ardent fan
when Cait was there and Andrew was standing - I love that early period!
Yeah that was me 😉
@@ilTroubadori Ahaha
I have never seen Shane play an instrument before and he sounds great too
Buuuuuufffff, ésto es la leche❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is probably the best performance I’ve seen Shane do. His vocals are clear, he’s playing a guitar all the way through and there’s no slurring.
he was still a functioning alcoholic at this point. the Grace From God tour of '88 you see the change
do you know him or are you an internet trool???
@@cathalsinclair3602 neither. I have a functioning pair of ears, some nous & the ability to converse while being able to spell basic words like "troll"
@@cathalsinclair3602 imagine posting this comment.
I don't think he's actually singing here. He sounds absolutely IDENTICAL to how he sounds doing the same song on "Red Roses For Me". I may well be wrong - but I've got that suspicion.
So great! Love that Shane was playing guitar all night!
Grazie per questo dono ❤
Has to be one of the best live concerts Ever ❤
Top notch, they dont make music like this anymore. Miss these days....
Spider banging his head on "Battle of Brisbane" ... this is Irish punk!
Cait on bass, beauty
Bisous à vous
This band. Wow all such talents, but Shane McGowan, really amazing.
Eine einzigartige Band! Und die Texte sind echte Poesie im besten Sinne!!
Echter Punk-Rock eben nur mit anderen Mitteln
This is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
One of my first Lp ‚s in the Punk Rock Time was“ RedRoses for me“. In These circles had The pogues absolutly Cult statues… Greetings from Germany
Friggin phenomenal 💥 RIP Shane 💔 Such a Wonderful group of people all 💥 Thanks for sharing this with Us !!!
Los he descubierto hace muy poquito qué pena pero los escucho casi todos los días me encantan una pena que se haya ido tan pronto pero es normal por su adicción. Un saludo a todos los fan nada más
Je suis Breton et j' aime
It must be exhausting to play these songs. My hat's off to them.
Saw them a few years ago(2014) , and couldn't believe how professional and perfectionist they were, incredible experience, one of the best bands I've ever seen.
RIP Shane😭😭😭you’re dead but you’re music is immortal!
They had two other performances in Munich / Theaterfabrik in 85/86 both unbelievable good, especially the 86 one where the beginning was scheduled for 12 p.m., but they didn't start before 1 a.m. (as the Dubliners had the 8 p.m. gig). after two hours play and many encores (the lights were actually switched on and the plugs were pulled) they came back with the Dubliners and played another 20 minutes. Though they were drinking constantly the whole gig (and were drunk when they entered the stage) this was by far the best concert I've witnessed.
So geil
