Take out Mo's antics, and all the other ones (Barry, Robin and even Stigwood) were their usual polite and adult selves.
I was at the late '70s and loved The Bee Gees, Saturday Night Fever was that rare phenomenon a bit like Thriller later, they don't come along too often, I was too young to see the film at the time as it had an adult rating, seeing the Film later on in the Video era it was a bit of a let down, Stigwood produced Fever and Grease but Sgt Peppers was a big miss, it was a stinker and marked a down turn for Bee Gees and Frampton, dumb idea messing with Sgt Pepper, a bit like wanting to give the Mona Lisa are few changes, just leave it alone.
Always kind of felt sorry for Maurice, Trying to get attention……he must have felt inferior. Course, Barry was the songwriter and real talent, but Robin was my favorite…..
Robin was my favourite also, however, Barry was the main song writer back in the early 50s when the twins were small. That started to change as they grew older and Robin started to contribute when he was around 15 years old, and there are some old Australian footage of Robin singing lead sometimes, and it was this format that continued when they arrived in England. By then all the music was written by all three brothers with the rest written by Robin and Barry. There are a few songs written by the twins and 1 or 2 by Barry and Maurice. The dis-information came around the disco era when Barry used his falsetto on the music for the film. The US just assumed that he was the song writer and ran with it until the brothers cleared it up.. Prior to the disco era both Barry and Robin sang lead.
@@kthor Not entirely true. When the twins where small Barry did write most of their songs, however, Robin starting writing when he was around 15 years old, 14 songs from their two Australian albums were written by Barry including Spicks and Specks which went to no 1 in 1966, however, they wanted international fame. Hence their arrival in England that same year. All their hits from then on was written by the three brothers or Robin and Barry. They secured their first UK no 1 with Massachusetts with Robin singing solo, and the song written by the brothers. They secured a second UK no 1 hit with I Just Gotta Get A Message to You again with Robin on lead for most of the song and Barry for one verse. They secured their first no 1 in the US with How Can You Mend A Broken Heart sung by Barry and Robin and written by the brothers Around this time Robin was the voice of the group because of his unique voice. With the Bee Gees RCA managers Robert Stigwood and David English along with a famous DJ stating that Robin had one of the greatest blue eyed soul voices. However, there came a point when they were not doing so well and was in France writing for their album when Stigwood pestered them for songs in regards to a movie he was producing which turned out to be Saturday Night Fever. The songs they gave him were not disco songs but contemporary R&B songs but because they ended up on the album and film they were considered disco songs and people that didn't know the Bee Gees prior thought they were a disco group. The only difference with these songs was the brothers sang a lot more harmonies and Barry singing the falsetto. None-the-less, it turned into a blessing and a curse when their songs all went to no 1 along with the film soundtrack, but after disco ended their new songs went no where because the US was not ready for the Bee Gees returning to their original format even though Barry now used his falsetto which he was not doing prior to the film. That is when Robin, Barry and Maurice started successfully writing for other people, and how Barry ended up co producing on Barbara Streisand album, because Robin and Maurice were now writing and producing Robin's solo album. Robin's 1st solo hit got to no 2 in the UK charts with Saved By The Bell and no 1 in the Irish charts and 7 other countries and the top 5 in 17 countries, however, his album Robin's Reign didn't fair as well. This was during the period when he left the Bee Gees. The brothers got back together and secured that US no 1 mentioned above. Therefore, all three brothers wrote the songs that became hit with Robin and Barry being the main contributors
