True pros. Great reaction, I really enjoyed it!
I just rewatched his reaction and while scrolling noticed your comment. I think the emotions ... they knew that she would be given the letter after the show and it would be public the next day ... actually added a lot to the raw performance. The song fit the developing situation. As you mentioned to be able to nail this was a tribute to their professionalism, how they all felt both about Pink Floyd and frankly Tarja - no one was happy what it had come to. Anyone who's ever listened to Poet n Pendulum knows how deeply it affected Toumas. I will admit I'm a bit more of a fan of Floor's style, but damn it Tarja is so good too! And now of course we are a year into Marko stepping away with no word yet if he will come back - I suspect he isn't going to but perhaps another 6 months to year from now he will be refreshed and wanting to get back out. The problems he has voiced have not changed ... all the demands put on them. Expectations for appearances, social media and so forth and in many ways giving up control of their lives for long periods of time. Hoping Marko and everyone out there is taking care of themselves.
I think the lesson here is never challenge Nightwish to a battle of the bands, even if you're Pink Floyd. I loved the original, but Nightwish totally owned this song. Even David Gilmour says he loves this version.
Marko had a botched throat surgery and is lucky to be able to speak let alone sing. Emppu shines in this song. THE Electric Hobbit definitely paid tribute to Dave Gilmour here and put his own tweaks into the solos. Love this performance.
I agree with you, and I never thought I would be saying this, but I think Nightwish improved on the original, which I also love. As I have posted elsewhere, you could be forgiven for thinking this was written specifically for Marko's voice, so good are his vocals. And those solos from Empuu - sublime. This is a 15 year old cover, of course without Floor and since the end of this Concert without Tarja and the end of the "End of an era"-tour. While they playing High Hopes she's changing her wardrobe Backstage. After this Concert the Band handed over THE LETTER to Tarja. Look into their faces. They all are so serious, Jukka had (allegedly) strong migraine, Marko were sick and Thomas looks like he doesn't know how or if the band will further continue. High Hopes is the apt title at this moment. And so they played the best PF cover ever .
Pink Floyd has been my favorite band since I first heard them when I was only a few years old and I'm 42 now. High hopes has always been one of my favorite songs and Nightwish, Ayreon and Jinjer are now tied with them as my favorite bands but the Nightwish version of High hopes is so much more powerful Floyd's.

I had not heard this song before and I am so glad I had the opportunity to hear Marko be the focus of this great song. Just amazing. There must be something in the water in Finland.
Good stuff, huh? It is the best solo Emppu does. Sometimes I wish they gave him longer solos. Enjoyed your enjoyment! 🤘
Love your reaction. It made me subscribe...
I Love Pink Floyed and Nightwish amd I feel the same. Without shame I can say that this version really is amazing and my preference. Marco's voice being less monotome but more emotional. They upgraded an already great song and honestly...only Nightwish can do that.
Had to come back to this after watching a couple of reactions to this piece.
I did like those.
I still LOVE this. The jumping up on the last chorus after Emppu...
Might not show it often recently... But I love this channel.
Paz y amor.
Hey amigo! Thanks a lot. This is one my favourite reactions to watch back. Such a great show. 🤘❤
I feel exactly the same way every time I watch this. ❤️
So Great!!!! It is the best cover! None can compare.
Btw That pic of the Metal heads skipping through a field is Gold!
Haha, it's so wholesome 😂
Thank you so much, the best reaction on a nightwish song ever for me, so sincere, i saw you becoming emotional and we understand that, nightwish is so amazing , they do it to all of us, i am happy for you. You got floored and she wasn't even in this song, 😊😊marko is fantastic ,the passion from everybody in nightwish is amazing , again thank you, i subscribe.
Hey there! Wow, that is such a huge compliment. I'm not sure I deserve that but thank you so much. I'm really happy to share the joy of this music. Glad you enjoyed it! I'll see you in the next one! 😁🤘
This is just soooo amazing!! Crying my eyes out!!
I have watched every High Hopes reaction there is and this is by far the best. Absolutely magnificient performance by Nightwish.
Looking forward for more reactions from you, they have tons of great songs!
Wow Nina, that is such a kind compliment!! Thank you so much. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Much more Nightwish videos to come! :)
Just revisiting because I love this song and you seem to feel this the same way I do. 😄🙋🏼♀️
This song is so nostalgic itself and on top of that the band looked so young there😢
Pink Floyd has been my favorite band since I first heard them when I was only a few years old and I'm 42 now. High hopes has always been one of my favorite songs and Nightwish, Ayreon and Jinjer are now tied with them as my favorite bands but the Nightwish version of High hopes is so much more powerful Floyd's.
Wow! What a great and honest reaction.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you, what an honest and wonderful reaction.
I have seen them live so many times but this concert I missed 😔...
This one is an awesome Tribute to the great giant, Pink Floyd!
+1 🤘🤘
Thank you! :)
Your reaction perfectly encapsulate my own the first (end every) time I hear this tribute. It is amazing! ❤🔥
I always loved and will love the original, but holy christ nightwish cover is amazing and even more darker than pink floyd. Thanks to Tarja who was changing her clothes while the band nailed this song.
Same here, every time I also get double, if not even trible goose pumbs listening to this Masterpiece.
By far the best Cover I've ever heard. As a Finn I'm so incredibly proud of this Band.
Thanks a lot for sharing Your thoughts with us 🤘I enjoyed it very much.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Kiitos! 😁🤘
Thomas Pearson

@@mailen5187 Thank you for subscribing! I shall be making many more NW videos I think. :)
This is better than a fan could hope for in a cover.
Every day i look to your channel, you became more and more my favorite man for reaction.
Wow Frauke, thank so much! I'm so glad you enjoy the videos. 😊
@@ThomFoolery1 🥰
Don´t missunderstood me, my Name is Jürgen and Frauke is my Wife. We have only one account. I am so happy to see Nightwish two times live. First time 2013 in Wacken and this was awesome and phenomenal, but the second time i see them 2018 in Oberhausen Germany in a lodge with many disabled people. This was my most emotional concert ever. This People are so happy to see Nightwish, i must cry the most time.
@@fraukehammer4624 Hi Jürgen, sorry for my misunderstanding. That's great that you were at the famous Wacken 13 concert. The second concert also sounds very special and emotional, I can only imagine! :)
@@ThomFoolery1 Don´t say sorry, you can´t know this, you are now the only person who now this.😂
My dream is that Nightwish takes like every good rock song ever and covers it in their manner, with the dramaticity and build ups they usually put in their beautiful music. I think that would be such a treat for us all!
Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen, the coolest guy ever. Love that guy
Hello from Finland👋Injoyd it indeed and subscribed 😀👌 Such a Great cover by them🤘 Waiting for your next reaction.
Kiitos! I really appreciate it. See you in the next one. 😁🤘 🇫🇮 ❤
Simply incredible.
I haven't been able to go a single day without Nightwish since discovering them, not that I'd want to.
And I love even more all the reactions on UA-cam such as yours, it feels nice to share the amazement with someone else!
Haha I know what you mean. I feel like I'm playing catch up for not listening to enough Nightwish before haha. I'm so glad to hear you enjoy the videos. It's wonderful sharing the love of music. :) 🤘
