Rejuvelac is a cultured probiotic-rich drink made by fermenting freshly sprouted grains in water. It first became popular in the 1960s under the influence of living food enthusiast Dr. Ann Wigmore, the original founder of the Hippocrates Health Institute. Born in Lithuania, "Dr. Ann", as she was called, is believed to have acquired the recipe from her Baltic origins.
The beverage is closely related to the traditional Romanian drink, called Bors, a fermented wheat bran used to make a sour soup called ciorba. Rejuvelac is a cultured probiotic-rich drink made by fermenting freshly sprouted grains in water, traditionally wheat is used, but we also use rye as well as gluten-free millet and quinoa. Plus, we show you how to make rejuvelac from sprouted wheat as well as sprouted quinoa.

At 4:44 you say you don't recommend using buckwheat, but I have made rejuvelac from buckwheat with excellent results. A comment for 11:58 it is also possible to reuse grains without problems as long as you keep everything clean, although the drink will get weaker every time, the first batch is the best. Otherwise good info.

NaturalVee67 wouldn’t you think that all of the people going to Ann’s clinic were sick with the ailments listed at the end ?! I think they had to add that as some sort of disclaimer. Anyone living on a standard America diet has a leaky gut and most likely one or more of the others, like IBS. Our health begins in the gut. I’d encourage you to try it 1-2 Tbs at a time, just to start out. I sure will be 😊

For those that would still prefer to avoid gluten, I would suggest using quinoa, millet, amaranth or teff gluten-free grains as well as legumes such as french green lentils. I question whether the fermentation process completely neutralizes the gluten protein in wheat, rye, kamut, etc... And with so many other options, why not just give up on wheat altogether. It's definitely not your grandfathers wheat as it has been hybridized over and over again. Perhaps this is why so many people are now allergic or sensitive. Watch 'Wheat Belly' (the documentary). Also 'Grain Brain' is excellent.
Gluten sticks to the villi in your small intestine reducing the amount of nutrients that get absorbed.

Going Natural & +Superfood Evolution, I heard when sprouting to rinse it several times and get rid of the water cause it has a natural substance that prevents the seeds to grow and that hurts the stomach, intestines. which I believe because it is hard to digest and makes you sick... use the vegetable, kefir fermenting processes. My family did have digestion problems with this. The sprouting of grains like the lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, barley can irritate, bad to digest especially for a leaky gut these are suppose to be cooked in order to digest in any case.... the alfalfa, radish, broccoli stomach are great for fermentation.

I don't understand this. You show how to sprout the seeds but you don't actually show how to "farm" the liquid. Do you add water to sprouted seeds? Then how long does this water sit before using- this is a little vague to me but I'm old so maybe everyone else is clear?? But these are the best and most informative videos I have ever seen- good job guys, I will have to go to website soon to be able to digest this:-) This information has given me a way to help myself and others .

Thanks for this great tipp. There would be two open questions for me:
    # Why not using a canning jar with a rubber ring? It lets out a bit of the gas if the pressure gets too high, but also pretty much seals it off.
    # Following that recipee could the sprouted grains be replaced by a mixture of sprouted seeds, such as alfalfa, green lentils, radich etc. (I am sprouting such mixtures regularly in a sprouting station)?
    With best wishes, Hans

As long as it's without fluoride or chlorine it will be fine. That's what most purified water takes out. You will be fine no matter what water use in actuality. Just to what purification level you desire, not anyone else. I'm not a physician just a 35 + year retired cosmetologist who had to take some nursing in school. But I am not a doctor and I am constantly researching.

There is something vmajorly important missing in your instructions. Once the grains have roots coming out, you said nothing about filling the jar again with some amount of water, not specified and letting it sit in a quart or 1/2 gallon of water for 1-3 days until it tastes tangy and tart. You went from rinsing to sprouts to drinking the rejuvelac. Did I miss something????

Sorry but I have no experience with leaky gut or other issues, I drink it almost every day but I'm not sick it's only for the sake of me and well-being. Unfortunately, I am not a doctor and these are just my experiences with it. I use 1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glas of warm water and maybe a bit of honey half an hour before eating. The Ginger Tea I drink mostly in the evening before i go to bed. Look for Dr. Berg here on UA-cam or Dr. Axe they are good and have many healthy tipps! Sorry for my bad english I'm from Germany.

No mine sprout in a couple of days. Get organic. Dead grains won’t sprout.

Do not know why you would not want to use it if you have leaky gut or intestinal issues? Usually fermented foods are used to 'heal' those things, why can't Rejuvelac be used for those conditions???? What is wrong with Rejuvelac??

As a vegan and mostly raw vegan I have researched and found that grains are not good for us because we are not cattle. We're coming to find that humans are quite different from animals although having organs. We don't chew our cud and we're not a goat to drink goat's milk or a cow to drink cow's milk which is why our immune system also known as the gut, small intestine large intestine colon is the basis for all health and should be pampered. We shouldn't throw just anything in it. Especially sugar and fluoride which is the most poison on the planet. We should research everything we eat before we eat it. Make sense? Animals can't read so of course research would be a bit impossible for them. I don't believe they eat meat. I've lost at least 20 friends in the last 3 years and losing more as we speak because of, you guessed it, the colon. Our immune system. I'm definitely staying with fermented foods but from Mama Rosa as well. I follow Markus and Cara rothkranz and Kristina raw vegan. They are phenomenal vegans! I don't believe they ferment anything which is why I'm here. Thank you.

My parents attended a "seminar" advertising the "benefits" of a Miraculous Rejuvelac Process in the late 1980's... The Chief Attendant, according to my parents, stated that "The benefits were as such, that the (Guide) could cut off his own arm, and it would regrow. My Father, reportedly, upon hearing this Drivel, told the Gentleman in General, to "Cut off his arm, and that (He'd watch) it Actively regrow...! As you might guess, this "Bet" was left , unanswered...!

Fake News! Sauerkraut does NOT require a starter culture. Does the author really know what he is talking about? I think I will stick with homemade Sauerkraut which is easy to make and definitely works.

We do have quite a bit of experience. We don't usually use a starter culture ourselves either. I would have to review that video to see why we said that back then...
