    It is so upsetting that most Anesthesiologists don't get a lot of credit for their job, they are usually shadowed in my opinion. I admire Dr. Jesse Hill because being an anesthesiologist is not an easy job!

      I'm hoping to go to medical someday, I'm starting college this fall and hope to do something in the medical field. I heard it's really competitive but most importantly you need contacts to get a job.

    I was very impressed with this video. I have worked with your friend, Blake. As a patient who needed epidurals in the past, it is very important to have a Dr who is not only skilled but possess a calming manner. You have a wonderful, easy going manner that puts patients at ease, especially before any surgical procedures which can always be very scary. Best of luck to you and I know you have a wonderful future ahead of you.

  • @veryannoyingname
    @veryannoyingname 12 років тому +1

    The risks of infection in putting an epidural catheter in theatre or on the labour ward should be similar apart from being on a ward room instead of theatre. Also catheters are long and very flexible so have a risk of accidentally touching the forearm during insertion via the needle. So best practise would be to wear a sterile gown and usual other precautions to minimise risks of infection. Same had been recommended in the NAP audit report in the UK as far as I remember.

    The thing is I feel like those doctors were trying there best to deal with me.Because they didn’t really know what to do with me.I didn’t talk to them at all.Because I don’t talk to strangers and I don’t even talk to some family relatives.It’s nothing against you truly.I think those 2 nurses had a heart,truly cared about me,and loved me even though I panicked.Because I have always hated shots,they give me anxiety,make me afraid,and they can be very stressful or traumatic for those who have a fear of shots.I just think if some people knew what I truly thought.I would be judged for it.It would probably stir into arguments or drama.I’m not a drama person.I stray away from the people who like to stir the pot too much and too often.

  • @sylvia3980
    @sylvia3980 6 років тому

    The 3rd nurse was so blunt and I am pretty sure she was a druggie or alcoholic.Because she wasn’t very friendly and welcoming to me.Despite the fact she lied about the stuff I did and so I got punished because of her.Thanks to that 3rd nurse for making life harder for me.As if my life wasn’t hard enough and I didn’t already have a lot of problems going on all at once.I can’t tell my mom or dad.Because they won’t listen to me.They just get mad and frustrated at me talking about that experience.

    I’ve had difficulty trusting others when it comes to surgery.Because I mean I think well what if it doesn’t go well and I freak out.Because of all those needles and syringes on the table.There would be no way to talk me down.That’s why when I went into to have surgery done.It wasn’t done.Because I flipped out seeing the needles and syringes there on a tray right in front of me.I wish they didn’t tell me what they were going to do and just waited until I was knocked out for surgery.

    Surely giving an epidural is a more complex process with more risks than an immunisation shot! Any person who had worked in neuro centres and gets referred epidural abscesses cases would know what I am talking about and recommended proper aseptic technique including gowning up in a sterile gown too

  • @Michael326
    @Michael326 13 років тому

    @DrSuperSixSeven During my third and fourth years, even after learning all of that "cool" endocrinology and pathophysiology bull crap, I still took abuse as an intern because no one would let me apply my knowledge since they thought I had no earthly idea how to apply it. They were right. I figured out then that the first two years of medical school were - for all intents and purposes - one big masturbatory session that has little to do with actually practicing medicine.
    Just my two cents.

      When you're in med. school, you should have ample opportunity to determine whether you find any particular area to your liking. Keep an open mind and you'll follow the right path that matches your needs and abilities. It's hard not to transfer someone else's enthusiasm to yourself, but you'll have to try. Know yourself first. In school, enter each rotation with a high level of enthusiasm and learn everything about it you possibly can. You will find that some areas attract students who are intellectually or physically lazy and other areas attract different personality types. It's an interesting journey.

    Is it ok if you’re in this job for the money? I have a little interest in being a doctor but not a lot.

      Doing any work just for money will make you feel desperate. Let alone the fact the money itself won't be enough motivation for med school itself (+ then residency)
      Find a job you like and you won't ever feel like you're working
