    The sound of a Porsche flat 6 to me is the most beautiful sound an engine can make. A perfect engine for a perfect sports car.

    Very cool video! It's the rare video in which you can actually see and hear how much sliding there is in a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car. Very interesting moment also after the long straight when the rear wheels locked and the car became slightly sideways!
    Kind regards from Belgium

    It is sequential, and YES it does!!
    But racing gearboxes like that also have straigh teeth, which is more efficent and also adds that high pitch whistle that increases with speed.

    This is great! Love this! I was surprised to see the hands get a little squirrely during braking at the end of the long straight. Weight transfer under braking must be scary in the GT3!

    Chassis setup will cause rear lock also btw.. Our bias bubble was very tight because some corners we would have late entry front lock up and then rear lockup high speed like in the video in others.. This is caused by the low grip slick we use in the series..

Also i can guarantee a Sebring 12h and Nurburgring (possibly night time) video in the next couple of months! In GT2 cars.. Leh Keen

  • @kingleh
    @kingleh 11 років тому

    It really depends on the curb at the apex of that turn and speed of the turn.. In the low speed stuff at COTA there is a harsh curb which we try to stay off... In the esses there is bolted down curbs that we run straight over!.. Normally in a slow speed corner you are trying to power down after the corner.. It is kind of hard to power down with only 2 tires on the ground!!

    Congratulations for earning this seat in motorsport, the Brumos Porsche is a legendary team. I started racing 25 years ago and go through periods of "retirement", but the passion for driving is always present. It is a pleasure watching you drive. Two questions:
    1) Is it necessary to double-clutch your downshifts to be gentle on the equipment, or is that a thing of the past?
    2) The Porsche is known as a very difficult car to drive quickly, any comment on how style differs from other marques?

  • @_wyans

  • @madi0505
    @madi0505 11 років тому

    the couple of moment over steer that you had, will u go back to the pits and report that as something you would want changed with the set up? or would you adapt your style to compensate for it? I noticed that it seemed as one of the moment of correction was when u hit the curb in turn 5. was that a mistake or set up?

  • @redman332

    I'm curious what you were looking for in this practice. Was your main focus to learn the track? learn the car? examine some tuning/setup parameter? Just get yourself into a groove for the race?

    That's so cool! The braking zone on turn 1 has to be one of the shortest on any track going that speed. Would love to drive this track, guess I just need to get an F1 car or be a Porsche factory driver or something...

    If they can make a video with about 3-4 COMPLETE laps that would be great.

  • @Pogost1ck
    @Pogost1ck 11 років тому

    SWEET. Was the car setup like it would be in the race? It seems really nervous on braking and fast corners, doesn't that wear you out during a race?
    What is the reason for such a setup, is it quicker (turn-in?) or because the porsche has so little weight up front to reduce understeer/pushing?
    No racing background, don't get too technical ;)

    No ABS.. It was rear lockup.. This was at the end of a bedding process for pads and rotors and the bias was migrating back to the front but still a bit rear bias..

  • @rustlerboi1052
    @rustlerboi1052 11 років тому

    He locked up the rear tires under heavy breaking on the back straight. This is due to the brake bias not the chassis setup.
